Your Brain Power And Exercise : Brain Power

Article by Don George

Some simple adjustments by you while working out can do wonders for your brain power. Get yourself back to nature. When you take a walk with nature you not only do great things for your cardio but you will also improve your memory and your attention span. You can expect to improve your memory and your attention span by about twenty per cent by merely taking a walk in the park versus taking a walk in an urban environment. This natural setting will have a restful effect on you.

Once you are in a restful state this will allow your brain to better process the information you put into it. Now when that little voice in your head starts talking to you, you can quiet it down and resolve your issues. Yes, we all have that little voice that talks to us all the time and we all have issues. Busy surroundings, noisy traffic, beautiful billboards, and loads of people clamor for your attention and surely do distract you. Your iPod will do the same thing, so leave it at home during your walk with nature. For sure after this walk in the park you will arrive at home to emerge calmer, much more focused and you will better be able to tackle that to-do list that you have created.

Another great tool to use to connect with your senses is tai chi. Why is it a brain booster you ask? It has long been a fact that tai chi improves your balance. But it also may protect the area of your brain that is responsible for your sense of touch. This just happens to be an area that tends to fade rapidly after forty. Improved sensations can help you thread a needle, savor hugs from a loved one or enable you to react quickly when something you touch is too hot. And it helps you prevent falls, a major source of injury as you age. With practice, tai chi will improve your controlled movements of your fingers and your toes; your fingers and toes become less responsive without practice.

So as you can see, exercise does improve your brain power, so what are you waiting for, get started! As always you must live well to be well.

Improv and Brain Training

In today’s fast paced world there is nothing like improv comedy training to sharpen your mental skills. Who is the person whose ideas most often get heard, the man who sits in a meeting and thinks and ponders or the woman who jumps on the questions posed and comes up with an idea?

I am not saying either way produces a better idea, because in reality either method could be used to come up with the ultimate solution, or more likely the two will be combined to offer the best plan.

So how does one start to develop these skills? To start with, searching the internet one can find loads of information on improv comedy whether you are looking for books, articles, groups or anything else.

The beginnings of improv are a matter of debate, but most would point to Keith Johnstone, the creator of Theatre Sports, Viola Spolin, the “Grandmother of American Improv.” For two great reads on this subject, Johnstone’s “Impro: Improvisation and the Theater” and Spolin’s “Improvisation for the Theater” are chock full of exercises and information.

But for real experience, reading about improv is like watching a movie about taking a bath. You can’t get clean with the latter and you can’t get your hands dirty with actually getting into a workshop and putting yourself out there on the chopping block.

Some would say being on stage is the ultimate test of an improvisational actor, but most people aren’t looking for that level of exposure. And it is exposure. You have to be totally open to complete disaster, and be willing to embrace it and learn from it, if you are going to climb onto a stage. Therefore group work in workshops is probably the safest format for the average citizen looking to sharpen his or her mental skills.

Most improv is based on some sort of ‘game’ where the players are going to assume some sort of role and have random characteristics thrown at them and then they have to create something interesting out of it.

Being put on the spot gets your mental juices flowing, or you can just freeze. The difference is experience and the willingness to lay it on the line.

The first time you have a reaction from those around you, (which doesn’t necessarily have to be laughter, it could be groans or tears) you can become hooked and want to do it more and more. More traditional actors may welcome the scripted role, but I have found the freedom of improv to be exhilarating.

If this interests you at all, I would strongly urge you to go online and search for an improv workshop. You may be surprised to find one within short driving distance of your home, as many community colleges are embracing this new form of brain training.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 21, 2013

Syntermed, Inc., announced today that their SyncTool nuclear cardiology imaging software is being used in a large global clinical trial for the diagnosis of heart failure. The VISION-CRT trial, sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a branch of the United Nations, involves heart failure patients in nine countries (Italy, Algeria, South Africa, Pakistan, India, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Vietnam). This study will include phase analysis for LV Dyssynchrony. SyncTool is a phase analysis software tool that analyzes the benefits of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) in heart failure patients.

SyncTool software is currently available for myocardial perfusion SPECT and PET, as well as, FDG-PET nuclear cardiology studies. Its inclusion in the global clinical trial underscores the flexibility of this technology for heart health around the world, said Michael Lee, CEO, Syntermed, Inc.

You cannot perform a 3-D or stress echo in all patients, adds Ernest V. Garcia, PhD, Director of Nuclear Cardiology R&D at Emory University and a principal investigator in the VISION-CRT trial. But all patients can undergo a nuclear cardiology gated SPECT study. The VISION-CRT clinical trial is designed to help improve the heart failure diagnosis in at-risk groups of people and to improve patient selection for cardiac resynchronization therapy. Given the morbidity and mortality from heart failure, as well as, the considerable resources that are used to diagnose and treat these patients, appropriate diagnosis and prognosis assessment are vital.

Emory University nuclear cardiology researchers have been at the forefront of research evaluating SPECT MPI versus Speckle Tracking Echocardiology (STE) for the diagnosis of heart failure. Ji Chen, PhD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Nuclear Cardiology R&D at Emory University says, Of all heart failure patients, about two-thirds of the patients getting CRT will benefit from that treatment yet one-third will not. Phase analysis of left ventricular dyssynchrony can help with two critical issues: First, how to select the right patient for CRT; and second, where to put the left ventricular lead. Studies show that the patients respond more favorably if the left ventricular lead is positioned in the right place.

About Syntermeds Advanced Cardiac Tools: Since 1999, Syntermed has added and refined advanced diagnostic software tools as part of the Emory Toolbox. SyncTool for phase analysis /LV Dyssynchrony has been proven to be more sensitive than TDI Echo to analyze LV Dyssynchrony. SyncTool analysis takes just one minute and uses the same data from perfusion studies. The reporting process can also be applied to any Gated SPECT MPI data set or previously stored image, and provides prognostic information from the 3D perfusion images about the presence and location of scar tissue. In addition to myocardial perfusion SPECT and PET studies, SyncTool can also be used with FDG-PET studies for patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy.

The technology for SyncTool is based on multi-harmonic phase analysis research originally developed by E.V. Garcia and J. Chen at Emory University. [Disclosure: Dr. Garcia, Dr. Chen and Emory University receive royalties from Syntermed for the licensed technologies. Additionally, Dr. Garcia and Emory University own equity in Syntermed. The terms of the arrangement have been reviewed and approved by Emory University in accordance with its conflict of interest policies.]

About Syntermed, Inc.: The Atlanta-based imaging and informatics software company serves nuclear cardiology and nuclear medicine labs with its quantification and decision support software analyzing SPECT and PET images of the heart and brain. Emory Toolbox 4.0 (now in its fourth generation), SmartReport (powered by Syntermed IDS), and Syntermed Live delivers improved workflow, new levels of efficiency, fewer clicks, fewer screens, and no redundant data entry. Emory Toolbox is one of the most widely applied methods of cardiac imaging. Syntermed Inc. was established in 1999; Michael Lee is the CEO and Ken VanTrain is President. Brain Waves Entrainment – Is This For Real?

Have you ever heard of “Brain Waves Entrainment” technology? Sounds like something only a NASA scientist would know, doesn’t it? Fact or fiction? Let’s explore further.

Brain waves entrainment has its roots way back in 1839 when a German scientist by the name of Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered methods of influencing brainwaves.

Brainwaves are electrical signals emitted by your brain, and the 100 billion neurons that make up the nervous system. All of your senses communicate via these neurons – including your memories, your habits, and your emotions.

Each cell creates a tiny electrical charge when “activated” – and using specialized equipment, such as an EEG machine, we can detect this activity within the brain. This electrical activity occurs in “waves” – hence we can record the patterns of such activity as “brainwaves.”

Brain waves entrainment technology uses a highly specialized audio process to create sounds that assist in achieving advanced states of meditation. Each ear receives special sound frequencies and when your brain hears these frequencies, it tries to follow those frequencies.

It’s what happens when you listen to the sounds of waves, or gentle rainfall. The brain follows the soothing frequencies and influences your brainwave patterns, helping you feel more relaxed. The sounds change your state of mind.

These are some of the benefits that brain waves entrainment claims to produce:

Improved understanding and retention when learning new things.
Relief from stress and tension.
Boost in creativity and problem-solving skills.
Increased energy and motivation.
Better control of emotions.

So far, many brain waves entrainment products in the market seem to be working as claimed.

Indeed, there are lots of positive customer reviews reporting enhanced relaxation, heightened concentration, and overall peak performance.

As of this time brain waves entrainment is still a relatively unknown technology with not that many users. However with all the remarkable results experienced by its users now, it may very well gain wide acceptance in the near future.

Photographic Memory : Photographic Memory – Is It for Real?

Photographic memory or eidetic memory is believed to be found in 10 percent of the population and is considered a rare event. This type of memory is controversial and not well defined at this time. It is believed to be found in some children however, they tend to lose this memory when they enter adulthood. Some neuroscientists, psychiatrists and linquists define photographic memory as a person’s ability to recall images, sounds or objects accurately as well as large amounts of information and do this quickly. Think of it as a xerox kind of memory. Perhaps you may think that this would be an advantage but in reality in many cases it isn’t. All too often you pick up too much information that is irrelevant and that can block the meaning of what you’re seeing. My father had a photographic memory with an IQ of 160. He could recite whole pages of text and tell you what page it was on yet had little grasp of the deeper meaning. On the other hand, I have brain connections between the math centers on the right brain with the frontal eye fields. This allows me to see equations in picture or graph form in my mind’s eye. I have found this to be useful in that I don’t have to remember a complicated equation because I can derive from the mental picture that I see. This has been an advantage in physics, chemistry and biology coursework.

Many people claim to have some form of photographic memory but in fact do not. Most of these individuals are actually using mnemonic devices to hold on to information quickly. Mnemonic devices means you play some game with the information with numbers, various shapes or position in space and rebuild the information from that image. This is not a photographic memory. Photographic memory remembers everything about the event with great precision as it stands. No game playing. This is what makes it difficult to determine if an individual actually has eidetic memory. How much an individual has learned interferes with the actual memory event. Eidetic memory should be quick and accurate.

Unfortunately the controversy over photographic memory stems from an overuse of this term to refer to unusual memory ability in general. Most unusual memory skills have been observed to come from learned skills and natural abilities as well as high level reading ability and not perfect recall. Eidetic recall is supposed to be unprocessed by the brain which is very different from regular memory which is processed and interpreted and has meaning attached to it. Early studies done on professional chess players were misinterpreted. I’m sure your aware that chess players can remember all the moves in a game and can memorize complex moves to the point they know all possible moves. This was once thought to be photographic in nature. However, further studies blew that myth away. Researchers placed chess pieces in places that were illegal moves and found that these chess players had no better memory than the average person. The professional chess player has ways of organizing chess moves in memory that made them look like they had photographic memories. Most people are capable of memorizing complicated chess moves if given enough time by using an alpha-numeric code.

There is no doubt that some people have incredible memories however, eidetic memory is an extremely rare event. In the strictest sense, eidetic memory refers to perfect recall of some information without mental processing of any kind or use of mnemonic devices. There is no doubt that the use of mnemonic devices can greatly increase you memory ability so make use of these devices. I often provide various devices to my college students to lessen the burden of memorizing vast quantities of data. Simple schematics with numbers/letters can hold a lot of information in a condensed form.

Awaken Your Photographic Memory In Depth Review

This book is made out especially for those that have a bad memory, or for those that want to improve their memory. This can be very important if you frequently forget things through the day.

The product attests some of the fact that is real in life, and uses the photographic memory as a way to remember things better. Some find that relying on photographic memory is a great method to retain much more information.

The snapshot technique, more likely. What this means is that some people can take a look at something and take a photographic picture that they can access every time they need to. The book can be useful, but it’s not a very good help in cases in which the patient really has a bad memory due to his condition.

The presentation of the book has a single big mistake. It says that people only use about 5% of their brain, and you might have heard the expression many times, but the correct percent is 3%, and it attests it can improve that.

Physically, this is impossible. As you can along figure, with 3 % capacity we can do a lot of things, this means that just a 0.001% improvement is a lot. And this does not refer to memory but to evolution. So, in light of this, does the book really work?

It basically depends. Photographic memory is something you inherit, but it can also be gained through practice. To practice and study photographic memory, this book is just the tool you need.

Popular Foodstuff For A Sharper Mind : Brain Foods

Article by Sharon Bell

Everybody knows that food is important for strong and healthy growth. Eating the right type of food will help in boosting the immune system and enabling the body to perform at its peak. However, not many people are aware that eating the right type of food is also essential in keeping the mind sharp.

The brain needs certain vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in order to function well. If you do not feed your brain with the right types of food, then you are depriving it of the things it needs to maintain optimum health. If you do not want to lose your marbles at an early age or if you want to keep your mind astute even when you are in your 90s, then you ought to include the following foods and herbs in your diet regularly:

Fish

Many studies have confirmed that eating fish regularly helps boost concentration and improve the performance of brain waves. Eating fatty fishes, such as salmon, tuna and mackerel, can give you added brain power because they contain essential fatty acids, such as omega 3, 6 and 9, that are known to help enhance memory and prevent clots and clogs in blood vessels.

Nuts

It has long been believed that nuts, especially walnuts and almonds, are brain food because they contain amino acids and other minerals that are helpful in making the brain sharp. In fact, studies conducted in Latin America show that people who eat nuts before exams fare better than those who did not eat nuts. However, more in depth research is needed to confirm the effectiveness of nuts in boosting mental prowess.

Olive And Canola Oils

Totally eliminating fats in your diet is actually not advisable, especially because certain types of fat are necessary for optimum brain functions. You really do not have to drink liters of oil in order to boost your mind. Just a few teaspoons of canola or olive oil in your salad are already helpful. By the way, olive oil and canola oil contain memory-enhancing mono-saturated fat.

Fiber-rich food

We all know that fiber is important in sweeping out toxins and waste materials in our digestive tract. However, fiber is also important in preventing brain fogging. You see, people who experience constipation and other digestive woes usually cannot think straight and perform well.

Lean Meat

You really do not have to be a vegetarian in order to help prevent Alzheimer’s or dementia. In fact, meat, especially the lean cuts, is considered as a brain food because it contains proteins that are needed in the production of brain tissues, neurotransmitters, enzymes and other brain chemicals. Skinless chicken, lean cuts of beef, and low-fat or skim dairy products are all good sources of protein.

Berries

Almost all fruits are good for your brain because they are rich in antioxidants and other nutrients that are essential in keeping your mind and body strong and healthy. However, if you are more interested in delaying your brain’s aging, you ought to eat more fruits from the berry family. Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, prunes, raisins and cranberries are all rich sources of brain-boosting antioxidants.

Wine

A glass of wine is not only good for your heart, but also does wonders for your mind. Wine contains a lot of antioxidants that are needed by your brain to function properly. However, you have to remember to drink wine in moderation because too much of anything is also bad for you and your brain.

Other brain foods include broccoli, brown rice, oatmeal, peanut butter, potatoes, soybeans, wheat germ, yogurt and cantaloupe. Aside from eating the right types of food to keep your mind sharp even when you are old, you also need to take nutritional supplements that are aimed at promoting the health of your brain. One product that is effective in improving brain functions is Neurovar. You can learn more about this supplement by visiting http://www.Neurovar.com.

Eating For Health, What About Brain Food?

Nowadays, it is always our topmost concern to eat a balanced diet and healthy food that would supplement and completes our body. We always strive to take those that will make us physically strong, trim, and fit. That more often, we tend to neglect a[art of the body that needs nourishment, too. It is an important part of body that also needs the quality food that it deserves so that it may function well and to the fullest, too.  This is our brain. We should not only be concern about the food that we eat that eventually makes sour body healthy.

We also have to consider and give much thought on providing the food that will improve our brain function. These so-called “brain foods” will be maximizing our brain’s potentials so that we may be able to use it well. A diet that is heavy and healthy with, for instance, with the fatty acids of omega-3. These can keep and help the vessels of blood of our brain to clear of the unwanted blockages and eventually allow the nerve cells eventually to really function at its highest level

This is a good reminder for you to eat your fish at least two times a week since it is a major and important material of omega-3s, or you can also start taking a supplement.

And if it is important that we know the good food for the brain, it is also equally important to recognize and know the foods that can also diminish our brain power. For a start, some drugs and alcohol, of course, can really kill our brain’s cells directly, but other than these, there are also many that are alarmingly less obvious foods that attack our brain. Those foods that clogged the artery can eventually lead to the act of restricting the blood flow directly to the brain, and those foods called high-glycemic-index, on the other side, can cause those blood-sugar swings that can really make both our body and our mind sluggish and irritable.

The following foods are considered Good Brain Foods:

Collard greens Peas Avocados
Bananas   Chicken Potatoes
Beef, lean Eggs Romaine Lettuce
Brewer’s yeast   Flaxseed oil Salmon
Broccoli Legumes   Spinach
Brown rice   Milk   Tuna
Brussels sprouts Oatmeal Turkey
Cantaloupe Oranges Wheat Germ
Cheese   Peanut Butter Yogurt

On the other hand, the following are the Bad Ones:

Bad Brain Foods   Drinks with High sugar

Alcohol   Hydrogenated fats
Artificial food colorings   Junk Sugars
Artificial sweeteners Nicotine
Colas   Overeating
Corn syrup   White Bread
Frostings

Accordingly, it is said that the best food for our brain are the complex carbohydrates. Since the molecules here are taking a long time, it will take longer for our intestines to eventually break them down into some simple sugars that our body can utilize. Hence, they can provide a steady energy source instead of a surge that is usually preceded by a plunge.

Take note that how we prepare and how we eat our food can also affect the way that our brain and body uses them. For example, when you eat sugar-loaded food after eating a meal with legumes can actually slow the sugar absorption; therefore preventing the thing called “sugar blues.”

Info is that proteins can also influence brain performance since they give out amino acids, and it is a fact that neurotransmitters are taken out of them. There are neurotransmitters that carry the needed signals from one brain cell and bringing it to another. So, the better that you take care of these messengers the surer you are of a more efficient delivery of these goods.

Then, amino acids like tyrosine and tryptophan are forerunners of neurotransmitters; these are the substances that make up neurotransmitters. You have to know that tryptophan is really an important amino acid and that it must be taken from your diet. And that tyrosine is really not a vital amino acid especially since the body can make it once there is a need for it.

One final note for all of us. Eating the right food in really helps, but it is important and try not to forget that even more when you have it out. This is why we can also give credit to fiber as the unrecognized brain food hero. So, include also a diet that is healthy with fibers.

Novato, CA (PRWEB) November 19, 2013

Green Swan Inc., a champion of safer cell phone usage, today announced the official launch of The Cell Spacer, a device that puts distance between a mobile phone users head and headset to help consumers ensure compliance with FCC and industry standard regulations for safer cell phone use. The launch of The Cell Spacer comes amid increasing concern in Europe for consumer safety when using mobile devices.

“It is important that people understand that there are real risks associated with exposure to the radiation emitted by cell phones and similar gadgets,” says Olle Johansson, Ph.D. at Swedens Karolinska Institute in the Department of Neuroscience. “We know that exposure to this radiation may impact DNA, leading to possible cancer risks, and also affects male and female germ cells and fertility. Beyond government regulations, it is imperative that each person educates themself and employs safer methods when using their mobile devices. The complete lack of biologically-based exposure standards or hygienic safety levels by our health protection agencies, and the lack of preventive actions, can turn out to be a huge mistake. To not act today would be deemed ethically and morally completely corrupt in the future.”

The reclassification of cell phone radiation as a “carcinogenic hazard” in May of 2011 by the World Health Organizations International Agency on Research for Cancer (IARC) was a key turning point in the battle to shed light on the connection between exposure to cell phone radiation and adverse health effects. However, while the U.S. remains idle in spite of ever mounting studies, many European nations are pursuing precautions to reduce childhood exposure to cell phone radiation and help their citizens use their mobile devices more safely. Below are just some recent actions by leading European nations to better protect their citizens.

On November 29, 2013, Los Angeles residents will have a chance to visit the newly opened Pico Union Project and celebrate Thanksgivukkah.

As has been reported in the pages of The Wall Street Journal and on the popular website Buzzfeed, Thanksgivukkah is the name given to the extremely rare convergence of the Hebrew and Gregorian calendars resulting in the first day of Hanukkah falling on Thanksgiving Day for the first time ever. It will also be the last time for another 70,000 years.

Deborah Gitell, co-creator of the Thanksgivukkah Facebook page, has teamed with Craig Taubmans Pico Union Project to create the Thanksgivukkah Festival scheduled for Friday, November 29. 2013 from 11 a.m. 4 p.m. at the Pico Union Project. The event will give all members of the community a chance to celebrate and reflect upon the “Once-in-an-Eon Overlap” of Hanukkah and Thanksgiving through food, beverages, music, crafts, and stories. Thanksgivukkah Festival is the only Thanksgivukkah event endorsed by the creators of the “Thanksgivukkah” Facebook page.

Im so excited to bring Thanksgivukkah to Los Angeles, said Deborah Gitell. Im asking Jews and non-Jews alike to pass over Black Friday and celebrate the freedoms America provides to Jews and others. I thank the brilliant and creative Craig Taubman for hosting this once-in-an-eon festival.

The brain child of Deborah Gitell, this celebration is a sure bet to bring in the whole community, said Craig Taubman. We will provide great food, fun activities, and stellar performances.

Laughter Boosts Brain Power : Brain Power

Article by Boost MacBrain

“I am content in my later years. I have kept my good humor and take neither myself nor the next person seriously.”â??Albert Einstein

Laughter Boosts Brain Power. Possibly the most important attribute of people who lived long, healthy, lives and still had sharp, vibrant minds and brainwave well into their nineties was their ability to laugh, especially to laugh at themselves. Researchers have found that humor stimulates at least three areas of the brain. The hypothalamus, the center that controls our basic drives; the releases endorphins, the bodyâ??s natural “feel-good” chemicals; the cortex, the thinking part, gets involved as you try to “get” the joke. And attention and memory are stimulated as you compare the joke to jokes you have heard in the past. These effects last for several hours after a good laugh. So smiling and laughing should be done frequently during the day.

Taking yourself less seriouslyWe’ve all know the tight-lipped sourpuss who takes everything with deathly seriousness and never laughs at anything. Ways to Improve Brain Power

To improve brain power, we must have a general understanding of how our brains work. Our brains are built for novelty. Learning new skills and information is actually fun for our brains. But once the novelty of a certain stimulus becomes familiar, we tend to become bored and treat we begin to treat that a certain stimulus as a routine. This can be explained by a learning pattern that we humans learned long ago through habituation. For our complex minds, once a certain activity becomes a regiment, it simply isn’t fun anymore.

When learning new tasks, our brain rewards us for a job well done by releasing endorphins. The release of these chemicals gives us a sense of well being. Simply put, endorphins are the chemicals that our brains produce to make us happy. Endorphins are released when we are exercising. This means that taking up a new sport will not only be good for you physically, it is also good for you mentally. For us to improve brain power, our minds have to be clear so that we are able to process information better, and endorphins bring about this clarity by relaxing us. Games and sports serve not only as a stimulus for the body, but for the mind as well, because most of these activities require strategy and thinking.

As with most of our bodily functions, if we fail to utilize it, they deteriorate and go into atrophy. Same goes with our minds. If you don’t use it, you lose it. One such sport that requires a great deal from both mind and body is surfing. It not only tones your body and strengthens your muscles it forces you to react to the right things at the right time. If you fail to do so, crashing into the water will help you remember. But the thrill of riding a wave releases loads of endorphins, which makes the hundreds of hours of effort physically and mentally, all worthwhile.

If being a sporty person doesn’t fit your personality, there’s no need to worry.

By simply doing an activity that requires your intellect, you are already giving your brain a workout. Basically all activities affect your brain, one way or another. It is important to know which ones are beneficial, and which ones are not. Solving puzzles and reading books are some of the things that involve our brains actively. It is important for our brains to be continually challenged, otherwise we start to become dull-witted, passive thinkers.

An example of a passive activity is watching television. Although watching TV will not decrease your intellectual capacity, the things that we learn from it come in the form of information bombardment. You only retain certain types of information when watching TV. Presently, most television programs are for entertainment purposes only. You’ll still learn something, but waste a great deal of time in the process. To improve brain power, is much like the same for almost any other skill. We need lots of time and effort in order for us to become better at it.

Memory Supplements That Boost Memory and Brain Function

Have you or anyone around you ever said you were having a “senior moment?” In defense of seniors, you can have one of these moments at any age. What it refers to are those moments when you can’t remember what you came into a room for or you can’t find your car keys for the billionth time this week. These moments are a common occurrence, but the older you get, the more you worry if something more is going on.

Alzheimer’s and dementia are conditions in which memory and mental cognition are greatly compromised. Mental deterioration can occur very quickly. So, what can you do right now to help with the minor forgetful annoyances and possibly improve your odds of avoiding a more serious condition? There are memory supplements that have shown to improve, to varying degrees, brain function and memory processes.

Here are some of the more common memory supplement ingredients and how they work:

* Ginkgo Biloba-The recommended daily dose is 240mg for the full memory boosting benefits of this memory supplement. This herb improves blood circulation which means that more oxygen is getting to the brain. It also acts as a natural anti-oxidant by helping fight the damaging effects of free radicals on cells.

* Ginseng-This natural herbal memory supplement is believed to reduce fatigue and is usually taken in conjunction with ginkgo. If you are less fatigued, your mental acuity is better and your concentration level is higher.

* Selenium-This mineral has been found to boost energy and elevate mood. If you are feeling active and happy, you will think more clearly.

* Folic Acid-A deficiency of this vitamin increases the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

* Omega-3s-The benefit of omega-3s to brain function is that it is believed to affect the neurons that transmit information by building new lines of communication in the neurons.

* Antioxidants-These include vitamins like E and C. Proteins and natural plant extracts also contain antioxidant power. These hard-working ingredients fight off the free radicals that threaten the cells and tissue of the body. Free radicals come from the environment, pollution and stress. They rid the brain of oxidized cells and help repair damage.

* Vitamin E-Taking the recommended dose of vitamin E may help slow the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. So, if there is a family history of this condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice for the same. Vitamin E is believed to help in circulation.

There isn’t a lot of research regarding these natural memory supplements so be sure to only take the recommended dose. Also, before adding any type of medication-natural, prescription or over the counter- always check with your physician or pharmacist first.

Make them aware of other medications you are taking so they can determine if there is a risk of drug interactions. Just because these memory supplements are natural doesn’t mean they can cause a bad reaction with something else you are taking. Give your brain a daily workout with the cross-word or Sudoku to stimulate it and take memory supplements to get the blood flowing.

Vitamins for brain can support memory, improve concentration and overall cognitive performance by aiding the circulation of blood and oxygen to the brain which helps remove unwanted toxins. Visit http://www.goodelements.com for high-quality supplements to promote optimal health.
