Increase Brain Power With Brain-Boosting Supplements

Wouldn’t it be nice if taking two or three magic pills each day would ensure a healthy brain and increase brain power throughout life? Unfortunately, at this point it time, that is not possible. BUT – there are a few dietary supplements that are producing positive results in studies on brain health.

It would not be impossible to discuss, or even list them all in one short article; so, I have chosen six good possibilities that you may want to investigate further.

Gingko biloba has long been revered as a medicinal wonder and is one of the most commonly used supplements for brain health.

Studies have shown that gingko biloba increases blood flow to the brain, providing oxygen, which is critical to efficient brain function. An adequate oxygen supply must be continuous because it is the fuel that allows the brain to send signals to all parts of the body and keep it functioning normally

Since gingko biloba is widely cultivated, it is inexpensive when compared to other supplements and won’t leave a big dent in your monthly budget. Most gingko biloba supplements require a dose of only 1 to 2 tablets or capsules a day.

Omega-3 fatty acids improve memory, learning ability, and may also prevent depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and dementia. A large percentage of the gray matter in the brain is made up Omega-3 fatty acids. These help make brain cells more fluid and in turn, improve communication between brain cells. DHA also seems to slow down the buildup of a protein that forms neurofibrillary tangle in the brain, a contributing factor in Alzheimer’s disease.

The best food source for Omega-3 is oily fish, particularly wild salmon, but if fish is not your thing, there are other options. Fresh, raw refrigerated walnuts and chia seeds are excellent alternatives and both can be easily incorporated into your diet in a multitude of ways. In addition to Omega 3 fatty acids, they are full of Omega-6 fatty acids, which work as a natural antidepressant.

As you can see, Omega-3 is available in a number of foods, but if you choose to take it in capsule form, the recommended dose via food and/or supplements is 1,000 to 3,000 milligrams daily

Below are four additional supplements that you may want to consider.  These four are often found in combination supplement capsules or tablets.

1. Nattokinase (from soybeans) helps with blood flow in the body – including the brain, which is critical for lifelong mental acuity.

2. Alpha Lipoic acid (aLa) is one of the best antioxidants for the brain.

3. Phosphatidyl Serine (PS) helps with memory recall, especially numbers, names and faces, etc.

4. Acetyl-L-Carnitine helps brain produce a vital neurotransmitter and is often used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Herbal supplements are not always safe just because they have been derived primarily from plants. Many herbal plants are quite potent. There can be side effects, sensitivities and possible negative interactions with medications that you are taking.

Short Term Memory : Short Term Memory – What Is It And How Does It Work?

Firstly it is important that we define what we actually mean by the term ‘memory’. In very simplistic terms this is the human mind’s ability and capacity to ‘sort, store and retain as well as subsequently retrieve or recollect certain pieces of information’.

To aid you in your understanding of the human mind it is important to know that in effect the human mind has three distinctly different types of memory. These three categories being, the short term memory, long term memory and also sensory memory. Each of these classifications work together in unison and are also categorized to reflect the way certain types of information are stored. They differ in that they deal with the duration the information is actually stored and also as to the methods by which the stored information is subsequently retrieved and used.

Recall From A Few Seconds Ago

In essence short term memory is that type of memory that allows us to recall information regarding things we have seen, heard or experienced just a few seconds ago or even from as long as a minute past. It is usual for short term memory to allow storage of small numbers, perhaps four or five ‘objects’ or pieces, of specific information.

When you go about estimating the duration of time that short term memory can hold information for it is necessary to understand that as a rule there is usually only three to four elements such as words, letters or digits that can be stored at any one time. It is, however, possible in some situations to increase short term memory to as many as nine elements. This is in stark contrast to long term memory in which information is stored and recalled over many years and the amount of information that can be successfully recalled can be almost unlimited.

Put in other words, it would be correct to describe short term memory as being the human mind’s capacity for retaining ‘in an active state’ a minuscule quantity of data or information. This information and data can consist of things such as recently processed sensory contribution, information or items that were recently retrieved from long term memory. Finally, this short term memory could be as a result of some mental processing that recently took place although this form of information may better by processed by the mind’s working memory feature.

Scientific research and analysis has determined that all memories, initially stored in short term memory banks, actually pass from this area of the brain over to long term memory after a period of time. At this stage the studies have not conclusively pointed to how the mechanism that transfers information from short term memory to long term memory actually functions.

Ongoing studies continue to explore how the human mind functions and how it elects to store the information to which the person is exposed – particularly what makes the information eligible for storage in the short term memory.

Ontario, CA (PRWEB) November 07, 2013

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) and National Research Council called for a national system to track sports-related concussions last Wednesday. The sense of urgency came after an IOM report found that no one knows how often the youngest athletes suffer concussions or which sports have the highest rates. It also wasnt clear if better headgear would help. (IOM, Sports-Related Concussions in Youth: Improving the Science, Changing the Culture, October 30, 2013)

In the past decade more awareness has been given to seriousness of concussions and professional sports associations, such as the NFL, are finally paying attention to the problem. Despite this, the IOM panel found that young athletes still face a culture of resistance to reporting the injury and staying on the sidelines until its healed.

In a press release on October 20, 2013, IOM committee chairman Dr. Robert Graham said, Concussion is an injury that needs to be taken seriously. If an athlete has a torn ACL on the field, you dont expect him to tape it up and play. See More.

According to an article by the Associated Press, reports of sports concussions are on the rise, amid headlines about former professional players who suffered long-term impairment after repeated blows. Wednesdays report said 250,000 people 19 years old and younger were treated in emergency rooms for concussions and other sports- or recreation-related brain injuries in 2009, up from 150,000 in 2001. Its not clear how many concussions and other related brain injuries go undiagnosed. (AP, More study urged on concussions in young athletes, October 31. 2013)

Its a shame that so many of our young people are facing brain injuries at such an early age. Whats worse is that the sports culture tells them they should play through it. They dont realize that playing through can affect their mental stamina for the rest of their life. A concussion can easily cause long-term problems for a child, says Frank N. Darras, Americas top disability lawyer who is a regular expert guest in national broadcast media. Watch here.

The data is clear for high school, collegiate, and professional sports. Concussion rates for male athletes in high school and college are highest for football, ice hockey, lacrosse, and wrestling. For women, its soccer, lacrosse, and basketball. Womens ice hockey also has one of the highest reported concussion rates at the college level.

According to the IOM panel, theres no similar data on concussion rates for younger children who play sports, whether on school teams or in community leagues.

Every state except Mississippi has passed a concussion law following a 13-year-old in Washington who suffered permanent disability after returning to a football game despite a concussion. Yet, its not always easy to spot a concussion and most young athletes play without regular access to a professional trained to spot them. *

Starting in high school, trainers are there at every game. Students and professionals trained in sports medicine are watching for signs of concussions and other injuries. Earlier than that, theres not that protection and the father who volunteered to be your sons PeeWee coach isnt trained yet to recognize the sometimes subtle signs of a concussion. This leaves the youngest among us the most vulnerable. More research is needed to identify trends so we can start taking steps to really protect our kids from concussion disabilities, says Darras.

Boost your brain power

Have you ever wondered how you can actually increase your brain power without having to spend a lot of cash on seminars and personal mentoring? Well now you can – because you don’t have to spend a lot of money just to boost your brain power.

Everything you need to increase your brain’s capacity to process information and recall facts is already within reach. You just have to know the strategies that will help you achieve your goals. Below are some excellent strategies that will help you accomplish your brain-boosting goals:

Brain power tips

Be more creative and express yourself in different ways – The human brain has two main divisions that represent two very distinct thinking centers: the creative center and the logic center.

The logic center of the brain is often used for problem solving, rationalizing, etc. while the creative center is used primarily for self-expression.

Most of the time, people overuse their logic centers while completely ignoring their creative sides. It’s fine if you work in an environment that requires you to use your logic center more (i.e. you’re a computer programmer or mathematician); however, you still need to balance your use of both sides of the brain so your brain power won’t take a hit.

The easiest way to stimulate your creative center is by engaging in music, art, and writing. These three activities should be enough for anyone because once you start on just one of these activities, I’m sure your days and nights will be filled with pure personal enjoyment, and more importantly, brain challenges in the form learning how to do things right.

For example, if you want to learn how to sketch realistic human figures, you have to learn how to draw accurate lines on paper.

All that effort challenges the brain, and the brain responds by increasing the number of connections it has.

Don’t settle for plain, ordinary solutions – We live in a society that values instant gratification. Now I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with this type of thinking, all I’m saying is that if you settle for quick fixes and plain solutions each and every time, your mind will stagnate and you will feel uncreative and unmotivated.

This is the reason why you should always try to arrive at more creative solutions to problems. It’s not that you don’t want to solve your issues or problems with time-tested solutions; you can apply those solutions, but you can think of novel solutions at the same time. Spark those neurons and brain cells!

Challenge your beliefs – Each person has a comfort zone. It’s time to step out of this comfort zone so you can begin learning new things. For example, if you believe that sports aren’t right for you at all, maybe it’s time that you tried badminton or swimming. Who knows? You may have been holding yourself back just because you were afraid that people won’t appreciate your athletic ability. Why not prove them wrong by challenging yourself today?

Vitamins : Vitamin E – Just the Facts, Ma’am

It is important to understand that we are ultimately responsible for our own well-being and should do whatever is necessary to maintain our health and assist our bodies in resisting and fighting disease. Since health practitioners agree that vitamins are essential for life and health, we must ensure that we receive adequate amounts for our bodies to function properly and to protect us from illnesses. Vitamin E is one of the vitamins to which we should pay particular attention.

A vitamin is an organic substance essential for life that regulates metabolism and assists the processes that release energy from digested food. Vitamin E, discovered in the mid-twentieth century, assists in strengthening our immune systems and helps protect us from a variety of problems as well as several serious illnesses. This vitamin can be obtained from food or supplements.

There are two kinds of vitamins and both are needed by the body. Vitamin E, like vitamins A, D, and K, is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be stored within the body in fatty tissue. Vitamin B complex and vitamin C are water-soluble vitamins that cannot be stored and the excess amounts are excreted in the urine. Fat-soluble vitamins – with the exception of vitamin A – are measured in international units (IUs), and studies by the U.S. government’s National Institute on Aging have shown that at least 200 IUs daily of vitamin E are needed to garner any significant benefits from taking this vitamin.

How Does It Help?

o Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that protects tissue against free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that usually contain oxygen and can interaction with DNA and other molecules leading to an impaired cell function. Vitamin E, one of the chemical compounds that prevents oxygen from reacting with other compounds, neutralizes free radicals, and is, therefore, one of the body’s natural defenses against cancer and cardiovascular disease.

o Vitamin E is also important in the formation of red blood cells and helps the body use vitamin K. Vitamin E improves circulation, is necessary in the repair of tissue, promotes normal blood clotting and healing, and can reduce scarring, too.

o Women find it useful in the treatment of premenstrual syndrome and fibrocystic disease of the breast.

o Older adults take it to help reduce blood pressure, relax leg cramps, help prevent cataracts, and, perhaps, to assist in reducing age spots.

o Vitamin E also helps prevent anemia, maintains healthy nerves and muscles, and promotes healthy skin and hair.

Where Do We Find It?

Food sources of vitamin E are nuts (e.g., almonds), sunflower seeds, cold pressed vegetable oils, whole grains (e.g., wheat germ), olives, legumes, and dark and leafy vegetable (e.g., asparagus and spinach). There are also significant quantities of this vitamin in such foods as brown rice, cornmeal, eggs, kelp, milk, and organ meats. Some herb vitamin E sources are alfalfa, bladderwrack, dandelion, flax, nettle, and rose hips.

Vitamin E, like all other vitamins, is not only available from food sources, but also as a supplement. It can be purchased in the form of a tablet, a capsule, or a liquid, and as a powder that can be mixed with water or juice or added to gels or bars. It can also be administered by injection. Read labels carefully so that you purchase only those supplements that have been extracted from a natural food source and have no harmful additives included. A proper balance of vitamins are needed in the body because they work in synergy, or cooperative action, and high doses of one vitamin can induce a depletion of another. You can take vitamin E safely in a one a day multivitamin, or as single vitamin supplement if you wish to take an amount higher than is included in a multivitamin. Visit a vitamin store and watch for the opportunity to purchase your vitamins at a discount.

How Much Do We Need?

The amount of vitamin E you need depends on your age, your weight, and the problems you are trying to solve or prevent. Remember that supplements should be taken daily, and should be taken with food so that you will receive other nutrients to assist in their assimilation. Keep your supplements in a cool, dark place to protect their potency, and take them as part of your mealtime routine:

o To maintain good health, you should take a minimum amount of 200 IUs daily.

o To help lower raised cholesterol levels, especially in young adults, take 300 to 600 IUs daily.

o For reducing menopausal symptoms, take 400 IUs daily.

o To help combat coronary artery disease and poor circulation, take 400 IUs daily.

Be Careful:

It is important to understand the different functions of vitamins if you are going to ingest them separately instead of within a multivitamin where the formulation will ensure a proper balance. In the case of vitamin E, there are a variety of concerns of which you should be aware:

o Vitamin E should be taken under medical supervision if you are also taking blood-thinning drugs (anticoagulant medication). Vitamin E acts as a blood thinner, too.

o Remember that vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, and since it will be stored in the body in fatty tissue, it can reach toxic levels. People who decide to take mega-doses of vitamins and don’t know what they’re doing can suffer from too much of a good thing with this vitamin. If you are taking a multivitamin supplement and a separate vitamin E supplement, make sure you are not taking a toxic dose. Anything over 1200 IUs should not be taken without consulting a health professional.

o Be careful if you take iron as well as vitamin E. These two supplements should be taken at different times of the day because iron in the form of ferrous sulfate will destroy vitamin E. Organic forms of iron such as ferrous gluconate or ferrous fumarate, however, will not harm the vitamin. Read the label and make sure you know which form of iron you are taking.

o Diabetics, people with overactive thyroids, and those with rheumatic heart diseases should be especially careful not to take more than recommended dosages of vitamin E.

o If you suffer from high blood pressure, begin with 200 IUs of vitamin E per day and gradually increase the dose over a period of six weeks until you reach the desired level.

o If you are taking vitamin E, you must also take a minimum dose of zinc as well, and some supplements will include the necessary amount of zinc in the Vitamin E tablet or capsule.

Vitamin E is an important element in our arsenal of disease-battling nutrients, and there is an increasing lack of vitamin E in our diets because of our dependence on processed food and the depletion of nutrients in the soil. Fortunately, supplements allow us to obtain whatever amount of vitamin E we need to keep us healthy.

The Missing Ingredient For Good Health

The Missing Ingredient For Good Health

Photograph Your Special Memories

Special events like weddings and births only come around once in a while, so if you have an important event coming up it’s a good idea to get your camera poised at the ready to catch any precious moments as they happen. Whether you are attending a wedding, christening or just a fun night out there are several ways that you can make sure you get the perfect shot that you will treasure for years to come.

The first thing to do to ensure you get the best pictures possible is to make sure you know your camera settings. Often people just click away without checking how their pictures will turn out, but you don’t want to get home and realise all your pictures are blurry or too dark to even see. If you can, remember to take your camera manual with you so you can be sure you are getting the best performance from your equipment.

Posed photos are always nice but some of the best and most memorable shots come when people don’t realise they are being photographed at all, so get snap happy and try to take unusual shots so that your albums don’t end up looking too boring. Don’t forget to ask people to take some pictures of you too so that you won’t be missed out when it comes to looking through your photos after the event.

Once you have all the snaps you want from your day there are plenty of interesting and unusual ways you can preserve your photos. If you’re looking to give your photos to someone as a present you don’t just have to give them a bog standard photo album, instead opt for an unusual gift like a mug or a mouse mat, which have their special memories printed directly on them. This way, they can treasure the memory everyday, without having to shuffle through piles of photographs or albums.

Even if you are turning your photos into a special gift always remember to print out a copy so you have them to hand when ever you want to look back at the event.

More often than not people tend to store photos on a computer or their phone but these are easily damaged, and can be lost completely if you have a technical malfunction. Instead of leaving your special memories on a piece of technology, print them out or save a few copies in various places so you can be sure you won’t ever lose them. You can print your photos in plenty of different ways from ordering prints online to using simple and inexpensive home photo printers. Whatever way you decide to get your photos printed you won’t be sorry once you have them safely in your hands.

If you are looking to save some of the best and most special memories this year, remember to take your camera with you wherever you go, so you can be sure to catch that magical shot that you and your family will treasure for a lifetime

Boost Brain Power Following These Easy Steps : Brain Power

Article by Pat Hunter

Your brain is an incredible machine that is capable of far more than you give it credit for. Like any other muscle, the brain needs regular exercise to help it grow and function more effectively.

Here are a few effective steps to get you started on increasing your brain power:

Reduce your sugar intake. The sugar in your body causes insulin to flow through your blood stream to offset the effect of the sugar. This can cloud your thoughts and make it more difficult to think clearly.Exercise. Regular exercise is just as good for your brain as it is for the rest of your body. Even just a few minutes a day of getting the blood pumping is enough to improve brain functioning.Eat antioxidant rich food. Antioxidants play a major role in protecting the body’s cells, including brain cells. Foods high in antioxidants include many types of fruit and vegetables, such as, grapefruit, pineapple, berries, spinach, red cabbage, and Brussels sprouts. Take multi-vitamin tablets. It’s often difficult for most people to stick to a balanced diet, so taking a multi-vitamin tablet daily will help your brain, as well as body, receive those vital vitamins and nutrients it requires.Listen to classical music. Studies have shown that listening to classical music whilst studying can improve a student’s exam results. Some expectant mothers have also been known to play a bit of Mozart to their child whilst it grows in the womb!Engage your brain. It makes sense that to develop your brain requires using it. Exercise the brain by regularly giving it a mental workout. This could be any number of challenges, such as learning a new language, taking evening classes, or even just doing the daily crossword puzzle. Relax. Modern life is hectic, which can make it difficult to think straight at times. Making time to relax, whether that be soaking in the bath, listening to music or sitting in the park will help clear your thoughts. It is also vitally important to get plenty of quality sleep, as it will allow the brain to process all the day’s thoughts and recharge itself.

These steps are excellent ways to start increasing your brain’s power, but if you would like to take it even further, visiting Ultimate Brain Power will open up a whole new level of potential.

Brain Training – Why Bother?

Why bother with brain training? Why wouldn’t you bother with brain training? I believe that life is 90% mind set and as a result, if I could only train one thing it would be my brain. Our brain controls all our muscles, organs, it releases chemicals (that have long complex names) that control your feeling, it governs our perception of the world and there for our experience. Really life could even be 100% mindset, let’s stick to 90% for now.

As I have mentioned in my other articles on Life Coaching, Mind development and so on, I’m in life for a feeling, the feeling I enjoy the most is harmony. My definition of harmony is Feeling at peace with who I am being right now and therefore knowing that tomorrow will look after its self. When I am feeling harmony the whole world around benefits as a result. More than just my selfishness of wanting to feel good myself, at the same time want others to feel good and I have found that just like laughter, feelings spread. I would much rather spread harmony, happiness and love than fear anger and frustration.

I have trained my brain in many different ways over the years and I use this article as a medium to share my knowledge and experience to benefit you. I have completed memory courses, studied Christian philosophy, the yogi philosophy which both in their own ways convey ways, means and techniques to bring the mind body and sprit into harmony. And I say it in that order because I think unless your brain is geared in a way that is open and willing to learn and on top that able to process thoughts, feelings and emotions, you will be increasing limited to what you can experience on all levels.

I’d like to be able to say that I have the answer to solve everyones problems, “Here is my 14 step program to be perfect”.

For starters perfect in my opinion is an imagery state of being that humans have created. My approach rather than trying to “fix” people I teach people to be first content with what you have and to use what you have to the best of your ability, whilst being open to grow and learn.

I have spent many years of my life doing carpentry and there is no one tool that I can use to build and entire house. I can’t built an house with a hammer alone or just a saw I require several tools and even then what if someone wants a full brick home then my hammer and saw aren’t needed. When someone wants a full brick home I can choose to learn how to lay bricks or I can call in a brick layer. Either way I will be grateful that I can still do the doors and windows of the house and I will work with the brick layer to learn more about laying bricks because I like learning and increasing my skills. Which I now know is growth and half of the journey of being fulfilled.

One thing I have found that works for the majority of people that have done it for a period time… if you want to feel harmony, content, peaceful, fulfilled or the like give and grow in all area of your life.

A model for training the brain in any area that I have found endlessly useful is what I call the 4 Habit Model

Sub consciously incompetent – I don’t know that what I’m doing that isn’t working
Consciously incompetent – I know that what I’m doing isn’t working
Consciously competent – I now have change and concisely chose to do something that works for me
Sub consciously competent – I do what works for me without even thinking about it

I will give you an example of how I trained my brain with this tool. I decided that I wanted to give more smiles to people, because when people have smiled at me or made an extra effort to make me smile when I’m having a tough day, I really appreciate it, then in return I want to give that experience to others. Let’s apply this to the 4 Habit Model
Sub consciously incompetent – I didn’t know that wasn’t smiling as much as I could.
Consciously incompetent – I knew that I wasn’t smiling as much as I could.
Consciously competent – I now choose consciously to smile at people more often.
Sub consciously competent – I now smile almost all the time without even thinking about it.

I now have created a habit where I smile at almost every body. Does that work HELL YES!! I have increased my happiness because I smile more and smiles release those feel good chemicals. I help others increase their happiness by sharing a smile and then I feel even happier because I have helped brighten someone else’s day. Its good all round. Did this come naturally? No I don’t believe many things do. Let me explain. Most things even like smiling are a learnt habit, we simply forget when we learn it and when do we ever stop to think about it.

In my work as a Life Coach based in sunny Cronulla (Southern Sydney) I help people create the habits that work for them on a sub conscious level. I trust you have enjoyed and learnt something from this article. There are 4 more in this series or if you would like to find out more check out my website.

Memory Exercises : Memory Exercises – How to Easily Remember Numbers

If you have been looking for effective memory exercises, then there are a couple of quick and easy techniques to improve memory that you can use right away. This article describes how to remember numbers, using the ‘Power of Association’.

The Power of Association
Most memory exercises and techniques are based on ‘associating’ or linking what you want to remember with something you already know. A powerful memory is one that is created around a strong emotion, personal meaning or image.

For example, it is easy to remember all the events surrounding the time when you fell in love, because of the strong emotions you felt at the time, and because it was so meaningful to you.

In the same way, it is also easy to remember unusual things, events and bright colours because they ‘stand out’ from the more ordinary things we come across in our lives.

So the best memory exercises harness the power of association, making it much easier to remember things such as numbers.

Memory Exercise No. 1 – Remembering Your PIN.
This is a good memory exercise to try because you can choose you own PIN. It also works for any short number with only a few digits; for example, a security code.

Firstly, pick a number that is personally significant to you, but no one else could guess. It could be the date you shot a hole-in-one on the golf course – 14 March – which you could write as 1403. In most cases that association may be enough to remember your PIN.

Just to make sure, create a powerful image to link the card with your chosen PIN. For example, imagine yourself buying a new set of golf clubs using a giant credit card with the number ‘1403’, written across it.

Remember that the strength of this memory exercise lies in finding a number and image that means something to YOU.

Memory Exercise No. 2 – Remembering Phone Numbers
You may find that you want to remember a longer number, such as a phone number. Once again, the key to this memory exercise is to find something that is memorable to you.

Let’s say that your dentist has the following 8 digit phone number that you want to remember: 65494327.

The first step is to break it down into groups of numbers that will be easier to remember. Four digits is good for each group. The number given above would then break down into 6549 4328.

The second step is to replace each of these two numbers with a short sentence or phrase related to the dentist in some way.

To do this, replace each digit of each number with a word which has the same number of letters. That is, the digit ‘6’ would be replaced with a word with 6 letters.

For example, you could write the first part of the Dentist’s phone number as “Repair Teeth Soon Dentician!”, and the second part as “Sore Gum No Pleasure!”

So there you have it – 2 memory exercises you can use straight away to improve your memory skills. Remember, the more fun you have with this, the more enjoyable your practice will be and the faster your memory will improve!

Brain Food Diet

Much of a brain cell’s structure is made up of what are called “healthy fats”. The most important of these are the Omega-3 fatty acids. As your brain repairs itself and grows new neurons, it needs an abundant supply of Omega-3s from your diet.

The brain is the largest user of oxygen of all the different organs so any change in blood flow to the brain quickly effects its ability to function. Reducing fats is important in keeping those arteries free. In fact, researchers have noted that reduced blood flow is a contributing factor in cognitive decline in older people. Protecting your blood supply to the brain is critical in keeping function longer as you age.

Fish, for example, especially salt-water fish, is a good source of iodine. Before iodine was routinely added to salt, many people who lived inland lacked this mineral in their diets. This often caused a condition called goiter, where the thyroid gland enlarges and production of the thyroid hormone, thyroxine, decreases. Thyroxine is necessary for proper mental function. When a person who suffered from iodine deficiency ate fish, the thyroid was stimulated into producing more of the essential hormone. The person usually became alert and able to think clearly.

Vitamins and minerals are the building blocks of your brain. The brain needs a sufficient amount of Vitamins C, B12 and B6. Citrus fruits and cranberries are rich in Vitamin C. Vitamin B6 can be found in ready-to-eat cereals, potatoes and beans such as garbanzos. Vitamin B12 is especially important because it keeps nerve cells healthy and active. Liver, beef and seafood such as mollusks provide a healthy dose of Vitamin b12.

This is the most important thing for a person to be able to have a sensible and in the right frame of mind.

The relativity is very great that we should always think twice about the food that we are going to eat. If you do not know or does not have an inkling of that kind of food that you should eat, I will give you some advice that would surely become an eye opener to you. So, here is the list of food that you should eat and put together in your menu.

Fats are not totally villains, they are actually good guys when it comes to your brain. They are especially important and useful to Neurons. Fats made up about 33% of your brain. And we are talking here about good fats – fatty acids which your brain needs to perform complex, intricate functions properly.

Wild Salmon – Fish has long been known to be a great brain food choice. Wild salmon is probably the best choice of all because it is one of the best sources of Essential Fatty Acids, particularly Omega-3 without the contamination found in many species of deep sea fish. Some farm raised salmon is beneficial depending on the source but you really need to be careful. Other good seafood choices are sardines and smelts, both small fish with small livers that limit the amounts of mercury they can store.

Your brain food supplements should consist of fish, which is rich in DHA-omega-3 fatty acids that are very essential for the brain synapses and insufficient or lack of this nutrient hampers the intellect and can cause the onset of Dementia. And strict vegetarians can consume pumpkin seeds, flax seeds or walnuts that also contain omega-3 fatty acids. Eggs contain choline that is supposedly good for improving your memory.

This report studies the global minimally invasive surgical instruments, imaging & visualization systems and medical robotics market over the forecast period 2011 – 2016.

Minimally invasive surgical (MIS) procedure refers to the surgery performed with minute incisions in the body and treating, for instance, plaque blockages in the arteries of the heart and other vessel walls of peripheral organs such as lower extremities, neck, kidneys and brain. The principal advantage of these procedures over surgery is short recovery time, short length scars, low risk of infection, bleeding and shorter hospital stays.

The global minimally invasive surgical devices market is classified into handheld instruments, guiding devices, inflation systems, auxiliary devices, ultrasound, X-ray, CT & MRI imaging, electrosurgical devices and robotic-assisted surgery systems. MIS market is expected to grow at a faster rate with a CAGR of 8.2% from 2011 to 2016.

The global minimally invasive surgical market has seen challenging and dynamic market conditions, but still remains strong, with a size of approximately $ 23 billion in 2011 and an estimated annual growth rate of 8% over the next five years. A large number of technological innovations in the devices used in such procedures have been seen in the past years, with newer devices coming up with better safety and efficacy attributes contributing to widespread adoption of the minimally invasive procedures by physicians worldwide. Although widespread investment in research and development for MIS is still poor, venture funding will have a tremendous impact on the overall revival, as economic conditions improve gradually.

The worldwide market for minimally invasive surgery devices and imaging & visualization systems including robotic systems is principally commanded by major multinationals, such as Intuitive Surgical, GE Healthcare, Philips, Siemens and Covidien.
