Have you ever tried to remember something only to forget it a few minutes later? Maybe you parked in a parking garage and you forgot what section you parked in, or maybe you went to the grocery store and forgot what you were supposed to buy, or maybe you even forgot your spouse’s birthday or your anniversary! If you had a portable MP3 player recorder, you could have simply recorded these things and then you could have played it back for instant memory retrieval.

The best MP3 players today offer recording capabilities so if you want a portable MP3 player recorder, you only have to splurge for one of the more expensive MP3 players. You’ll be happy to know that even the best portable MP3 player recorders don’t cost all that much money so you could have one of these players no matter what you budget looks like.

That’s Not All

Portable MP3 player recorders don’t just record your voice. They also play music. Some even play movies and offer more bells and whistles such as games, alarms and much more. That means you could be listening to your favorite song when you park your car in your local mall’s parking garage. You simply get out of your car, record your section into your portable MP3 player recorder, and then you can go right back to listening to your favorite song again.

With all of this offered in one tiny little device, no one should be without one. You know you’ve been in a situation where you needed to remember something and then you forgot it. It seems that the more you want to remember something, the quicker it evaporates from your memory. That makes a portable MP3 player recorder an invaluable tool for anyone.

You Must Play It Back

You must keep in mind that a portable MP3 player recorder won’t remember things for you if you don’t play your voice back. You cannot record your parking section, your shopping list, or your birthday or anniversary dates into the device and then just ignore them. That won’t do you any good. A good habit to keep would be to play back each item that you’ve recorded into your portable MP3 player recorder each night before you go to bed.

Write those things down and keep them in a place you know you’ll check often, such as on a note posted to the refrigerator door. If used properly, however, a portable MP3 player recorder will give you that photographic memory you’ve always wanted.

Learning Spanish Has Never Been Easier : Memory Exercises

Article by Douglas Bower

Mnemonic memory training is a memory system that allows you to store information in and recall it from your long-term memory, and, in the case of learning a new language, your speech center. Mnemonics gives you a way to organize information, store it, and recall it. The better information is organized and stored, the easier you will be able to recall it when it is needed and the longer it will stay in your head. If you do mnemonics correctly, you concentrate and focus on information you want to remember in a way that will almost guarantee you will never forget it.

Some twenty-five years after going through my first mnemonic memory course, I still recall vocabulary words in French and I do not speak French at all. In the course, as an exercise, we learned some French words using the Substitute Word System–a mnemonic device–and I still can remember them. Now that is Memory Training. This is what mnemonics does for you: it creates a way for a simple, effective, and efficient storage and retrieval system. In other words, mnemonics provides you a way to find the information in your head. It is essentially like a search engine on the Internet in your head.

Some offer criticism of mnemonics. They say mnemonic training does not teach you to understand the information you are trying to remember. I find this a nonsense objection. Why would you be trying to remember something you do not understand? The very fact that you want to recall something means, in some way or other, you have a need to recall it and it implies there is at least some understanding of the material you are trying to remember.

Another criticism is mnemonic training is time-consuming. The truth is that it is indeed time consuming–all memory work is. But would you rather engage in something that will guarantee you will be able to remember the information or engage in some rote memory exercise that will almost guarantee you will NOT recall the information? I find I can store more than twenty NEW Spanish vocabulary words per day and ALWAYS remember them. I know some who can do ten times that amount.

Example of How I do it:

1) despejado–clear as in a clear sky

Imagine a clear sky–a totally beautiful day–spades suddenly materialize in the sky and begin falling like deadly arrows. This causes you to have to hide under a huge mound of dough until the danger passes.

2) el dependiente–the clerk

Imagine “L” tells a restaurant check out clerk that he depends on begin able to come in each day for a spot of tea.

3) el pa

Brain Training : Brain Training – You Are Never Too Young Or Too Old For It!

Our brain is a wonderful thing! It does practically everything we need to do in our daily life, including moving our body, reigning the organs and feeling our emotions. It is probably one of the most – or the most – complicated ‘control centers’ existing on this earth. The only down thing: the brain declines slowly as we grow older. Thus making our lives more difficult than need be.

If the brain was to be trained and pampered the way we do our body and skin, we could all live to be a 100 and be as sharp as a razorblade till the final days. Fact is our brain is somewhat neglected until the discomforts of the older age are starting to bother us. Then we are willing to do something about it. Newest player in the field: brain training. But if we would start when we were much younger, then our brain would already be trained and all we had to do when we are getting older is some maintenance work. Therefore you can never be too young to train your brain!

When our brain is going to slip a little, we notice that our body does the same. We tend to forget things easily, get hearing problems without getting deaf, have trouble concentrating, and move somewhat slower than we used to. With a trained brain none of these discomforts are necessary. Training your brain keeps it fit, and a fit brain does the work for you like it always has. It is never too late to start (re)training the brain, because by giving it a work out on a regular base you will get all your capabilities back.

Online companies have found this niche in the market. They have websites full of games that sharpen your brain as if it were a knife. More so than video games, those are merely there for the fun. Not that brain training games are no fun… they just have a double function. Besides, the better companies are constantly testing their games, adjusting them to the newest research on how to work out the brain, and also give the possibility to upgrade in the games. That way the challenge remains and it is the challenge that makes your brain work harder and gets itself in better shape. Some sites may charge you a little fee to get access to all their games and updates, but that would hardly be more than a quarter a day. For that money you can train your whole family, as you are never too young… or too old to train your brain!

Why Brain Training?

The brain needs care just like the body

New scientific research shows that we can improve the health and function of our brains with the right mental workouts. In a study funded by the National Institute of Health, scientists found that memory, reasoning and processing speed can be improved by brain training. Moreover, they found that cognitive improvements persisted for at least five years!
