Everyday life becomes more and more complicated as we advance technologically. Just managing all the social platforms these days can be taxing on the brain and leave you exhausted. The majority of us suffer from information overload, and it only gets worse as we age. Focusing becomes difficult, energy dwindles, and our memory fades away without us even knowing.

I like to break brain power up into 4 important categories.

1) Memory/Recall – Memory and Recall is the brain’s ability to retain information and recall upon that information when needed.

2) Focus/Concentration – The ability to focus on a task amongst all of today’s distractions is a nothing short of impressive. Not everyone is blessed with the ability to shut out his or her surroundings. The ability to control this when needed contributes to brain power.

3) Mental Energy/Alertness – The ability to think quickly and react to situations is an important element of brain power. Sometimes, handling a lot at once and being able to think on your toes is desired.

4) Brain Health/Protection – A healthy brain is more powerful than a week brain. Aging, diseases, and the various dementias attack the brain and weaken its overall performance. Brain Health is the overall encompassing element of brain power. Without it, the rest would be irrelevant.

Luckily, modern science tells us how we can enhance each of these points. Obviously, being a healthy person, who lives, eats, and exercises properly will naturally have a healthier brain and improve their overall brain power. But how can we take it one step further? How can we improve our brain power above the average and achieve a competitive edge?

Trace elements in the body have been recognized that directly affect the 4 main components of brain power. These elements, naturally occurring within the body, can be increased and enhanced by modern science. The solution is supplements.

Our brain is a muscle, and like all other muscles in order to function to their optimal potential they need a routine of consistent and targeted exercise.

No Doubt most of us would of experienced using our Photographic Memory at some point in our lives. Its all about using association to recall the information quickly and accurately.

When we were growing up we probably remember some teacher/carer saying “A” is for ?…Apple, we were shown the picture of the Apple and repeatedly told to associate that picture of an apple with the letter A…

The same thing happened with mathematics when we were learning our times tables. Our teachers made us get in a rhythm when reciting them and other tricks of association may also have been used.

Next time you want to remember something attach some kind of feeling to it, this will help you remember it when you need to recall it again.

Once you use association on the brain then it neatly stores it in the filing cabinet (memory) where it can easily be retrieved when called upon.

Boost Memory : Boost Memory Power – Learn How You Can Meet 50 People and Easily Remember Their Faces and Names

The Face Method

The Face Method is intended to help a person more easily remember the names of the people that they meet, by associating a memorable and unique image with the name that helps you to recall it. This image is then associated with a feature of the person’s face that is particularly notable. There are five distinct stages involved with the method.

Firstly you must ensure that you correctly hear the name. Too frequently people will pay too little attention to the name that they are hearing, or will mishear it. This will make it impossible to correctly commit the name to memory, and so even if you have to ask for the name to be repeated it is essential that you correctly hear and understand it.

A name in and of itself is abstract and hard to remember. To make things easier you need to associate the name with an image that makes the abstract more concrete, and the more unique the image is the greater the chance that it will be easy to remember. This is the second step.

If you had met a man named Mr Madison you may for instance imagine a small boy who is so hopping mad that his face is red and there is steam coming out of his ears! He is jumping up and down on one foot and clenching his fists. The more unconventional the image the easier it is to remember.

Thirdly you need to find something about the person’s features that stand out. It may be a mole in a particular place, or big ears or nose, or a deeply clefted chin. The feature that you choose must be permanent, as opposed to hair colour that may be changed, or a moustache that may be shaved off. This facial feature must then be associated with the image that represents the person’s name.

In the fourth step you link the image for the name with the feature that you quickly picked out. The angry boy may jump up and swing off the man’s bushy eye brows in his ranting anger, that is if the eyebrows were the feature you thought to be most distinctive about him. When next you next see the man you will be able to recall the angry little boy (the mad son) swinging from his eyebrows, enabling you to recall the name Madison for the gent.

The association may be forgotten, especially in the minutes following your choosing it and so this is then the most important time to repeat it. The repetition helps to set the association to more permanent memory, and the time period between your reflections on the association should be increased from a few minutes, to an hour, a few hours, a day and upwards. If not occasionally reflected upon this association may be lost.

It can also help to set the name to verbal memory by using it more than once in conversation, at appropriate and natural seeming times. Ensuring at least that goodbyes are offered will give you a chance to repeat the name.
