Photographic Memory : Photographic Memory – 5 Tips to Improve Memory

Photographic memory has been considered impossible to acquire since you need to be born with it to acquire it. However you don’t need to remember everything using a photographic memory. You can use it just to remember certain things you want to. Here are 5 tips to improve your memory using a photographic memory.

1. Associating Pictures

When you read some material and want to remember the facts, you can make up a story which explains the facts in a humorous way. For example, if you want to remember the components of a computer, you can picture each component using a funny image.

The motherboard can have your mother’s face on the side. That’s easy to remember. The RAM (or computer memory), can look like a battering ram, the CPU can look like a brain since it’s the brain of the computer.

Using these images, you can picture in your mind, all these components together with the associated images. If you have a test on what are the components of a PC, you can imagine the picture and write out all the answers.

2. Remembering Faces

When you try to remember a person’s name or face, you need to look at their features such as hair, eyes, mouth, nose and shape of face. Then imagine their names on their foreheads.

You then need to imagine the picture in your mind of the this person. The more you practice doing this, the better your photographic memory becomes.

3. Photograph Games

A good exercise you can do to remember pictures is to play games where you train up your brain in relation to photographic images.

Take a picture of a magazine, look at it for a minute and then write down everything you can see. After playing this game for a few weeks, many people have stated that they have improved tremendously in remembering images they’ve seen.

Here you are training your brain on how to remember pictures you’ve seen when you concentrate on it.

4. Practicing Photographic Memory

Another game you can play to improve your photographic memory, is to look at your desk or room, for about 5 seconds and then close your eyes and think about the picture in your mind.

Can you recall all the details you’ve seen? Can you see all the colors of the items?

5. Concentration

If you want to improve your photographic memory, then you need to practice concentration. Let’s say for the above games and exercises that have just been discussed – you won’t succeed unless you focus on what you want your brain to remember.

Children have better photographic memories than adults. They also have a better short term memory. The reason is that they focus on what they see and thus it’s easier for them to remember.

Adults prefer multi-tasking, where their thoughts jump everywhere and they’re doing something with their hands simultaneously.

Focusing your attention on one task will improve your memorization of the task at hand. If you mutli-task or get disrupted, your memorization ability falls.

Having a photographic memory can be trained up. As long as you train your brain to remember images when you concentrate on a particular scene or objects. Having a complete photographic memory is impossible unless you are born with it.

But do you really want a true photographic memory? You’ll remember everything you see. You’ll go crazy. Practicing a photographic memory, is just one of the techniques to improve memory. You need to read up more on memory improvement to understand other exercises and techniques so that you can improve your memory for the long term.

Photographic Memory : Photographic Memory Techniques – Exposed

There are many photographic memory techniques claimed to be able to help you develop a photographic memory. There have been many studies showing that eidetic memory, also known as photographic memory, is questionable. It is a rare ability found in less than 10% of the population, and whilst you many not be born with this ability it is possible to acquire it. Many photographic memory techniques assist your brain by boosting your ability to remember information. Your study habits also play a part in this, as different people learn differently.

Having a photographic memory has many advantages which should not be discounted. However, it is not necessary to have a photographic memory to improve your studying abilities. It can be substituted with other methods such as mind mapping, or developing an efficient information categorization system. Alternatives also include only jotting down the main points that each chapter or book is trying to convey, and making sure you understand the concepts. Most people are unaware that whilst a photographic memory is an enviable skill, it is not without its disadvantages.

One of the key problems with having a photographic memory is that you tend to suffer from information overload, having been exposed to a lot of information that may be unimportant or irrelevant to you. Having to deal with such great amounts of information means that you are less efficient in recalling the specific information that is needed, and you may also have difficulties in forgetting things which are irrelevant to you. Having a good memory is not just about remembering, but about being able to forget.

Having said all that, if you are still interested in developing a photographic memory, you should turn to instruction on how to develop this skill. There are many books available, as well as tapes and DVDs that provide such instruction and techniques. The human mind functions in a similar way to a computer’s database, and it is important to find the right linkages in order to call up the right information. Humans are not designed to be databases for storing information. Your memory should be used to recall information that is relevant, rather than just for storing purposes! Keep in mind that a good instructional tool should teach you about learning, and not just about remembering.

Memory loss is a very serious complaint with many people these days. It is a term which is given to an abnormal degree of forgetfulness or an inability to be able to recall past events. It may have either a sudden or gradual onset, and it can be temporary or permanent.

There are many different causes of memory loss. Pregnancy and aging are two very common causes, but just because there are situations which cause memory loss this certainly does not mean that you have to deal with it.

There are many things that you can do to help improve your memory, but using games to improve memory is by far one of the best things that you can ever do:

* Using games to improve memory tends to be much more effective than most other methods, particularly because they are fun and enjoyable.
* This means that rather than being a task they are something that you will absorb, and this will offer you more significant results in terms of memory improvement.

What Games Are The Best?

If you are wondering what games to improve memory you should use, then you should know that there are quite a few, for example:

1. Crossword puzzles are always a great idea, and they are simple so they are suitable for people of all ages.
2. Jigsaw puzzles are also effective because they awaken and stimulate the brain, and
3. Match games are just as good.

You can even come up with your own games to improve memory, and to make it really fun you can get some of your friends and family members involved. This makes it a group activity and not only will you then have people you love around you to support you but they will be improving their memories at the same time so it is really a win-win situation.

Besides games to improve memory, there are also many other things that a person can do to help them deal with a memory loss condition. The best idea is to speak to your doctor if you are dealing with a condition such as this. They will help you to assess and diagnose your condition, as well as determine whether or not your memory loss is the sign of something more serious.

This is important because even short-term memory loss is often the sign of Alzheimer’s or a similar disease or form of dementia, and at least if you determine that there is a larger problem at hand you will be able to deal with it appropriately, as promptly as possible, therefore saving yourself from more serious, long-term damage.

Short term memory loss is a fact of life as we get older. Is there anything that can be done to help? There are some foods that have been proven to boost brainpower.

Organic Rosemary

Rosemary contains a wealth of antioxidant phytonutrients, including flavonoids and the phenolic compounds carnosol, rosmanol, and rosmarinic acid wich are great for short memory loss.Rosemary extract has shown the capacity to scavenge the peroxynitrite radical, one of the molecules responsible for causing cell death and aging. Consumption of its volatile oils, those that give it its memorable fragrance, help to enhance recall and increase alertness.

To retain nutrients, it is best to wash fresh rosemary under cold running water and pat dry with a paper towel. Do not soak it. Add fresh rosemary to omelets and frittatas. Rosemary is also a wonderful herb for seasoning chicken or lamb dishes. You can also add rosemary to tomato sauces and soups.

Organic Oranges

Oranges are great sources of folate which helps with memory loss. A recent study in The Journal of Nutrition found that a diet rich in folate - which helps lower levels of homocysteine, an amino acid related to memory loss - is associate with faster recall and information processing.

Eat 2 oranges a day. Eat the orange on its own or cut in to small pieces and add to you salad!

Other great sources of folate are: Romaine lettuce, spinach, asparagus, calf’s liver, collard greens, broccoli.

Black Beans

This fiber rich food is an excellent source of vitamin B1, a nutrient that helps synthesize the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is crucial for memory. Low levels of acetylcholine have been linked to age-related mental decline and Alzheimer’s disease. Eat 1/2 cup a day!

Other great sources of B1: Romaine lettuce, asparagus, crimini mushrooms, spinach, sunflower seeds, tuna, green peas.

Sage

Two trials have showed that taking an essential oil extract of sage - which inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine - significantly improved recall in adults for up to 4 hours after consuming. Consume 1 tablespoon fresh or 1 teaspoon of dried sage, or 1 teaspoon sage infused olive oil. Add it soups or use sage infused oil in meat marinade.

Eating super food like the healthy food described above won’t magically bring back your short term memory loss but over time you will notice a significant difference. Remeber that organic products make a huge difference in the effectiveness of these healthy foods, so please consume organic products when ever possible.

High-school, college, and for some of us after college, we spend a great deal of the time of our lives in studying. Studying can either take the form of serious studying to pass institutional examinations, or it can also take the form of leisurely reading to increase the wealth of knowledge one stores in his psyche. Regardless of the purpose or form of studying that I discuss here, I stand for Effective Studying. Effective studying, according to my dictionary, is to be able to read blocks of educational texts, comprehend the information presented, analyze the information, develop your own hypothesis, and then finalize the learning process by writing it down. Of course, in many cases of academic reading, we don’t need to abide by the ostensibly complex learning process that I’ve mentioned here. In this article, I’ll focus on the very basics – which we often seem to forget! Here is the sequence of steps that I’ve followed all my life successfully:

* Critical reading: this refers to reading any block of text slowly and getting the bigger picture. Here, you ask meaningful questions about the information you’ve just read and then answer them all by yourself. If you can’t answer, just note it down and ask anyone who seems to be much more intelligent to you!

* Critical thinking: this goes hand in hand with critical reading. Instead of just reading through paragraphs and memorizing the group of words, it would be much more generative to actually grab the core meaning of the text.

* Critical listening: previous studies on education have proved that we memorize information easily if we actually hear the words. Our brains first store the information in our short-term memory. After continuous revising and writing, the information is transferred to our long-term memory. The reason why I call it Critical listening is because you only read aloud those sentences from the text given that give you a summary, or you read aloud some sentences that you have formed in your own mind while critically analyzing the information presented in the text.

* Writing and revising: writing is definitely a good habit! I once read in the Reader’s Digest about a highly-successful neurosurgeon whose mother worked as a maid in her community. Not knowing how to help her children grow up, she took her children to the nearest library and asked them to write down summary reports of each book they have read. This was the turning point in the life of the future surgeon, from being a mediocre student in an unknown family destined to die in poverty and humiliation, reading and writing gave him the inspiration to gather knowledge and gain a strong foothold to survive in society. Now, you should definitely remember that your learning process is not finished after writing down any summary. This is because when we write down anything, our brains automatically ignore any new information relating to the written down text. You should periodically revise the written text and try to memorize to make sure that you have actually grasped the idea.

This is the way to consume information and transfer them from your short-term memory to long-term memory. I hope you have a great day studying!

Learn How to Use My Photographic Memory

I used to believe that brain power was more of a term you gave to some Nasa Astronaut referring to how “brainy” they must already be to take on such a brain intensive training regime…

Truth is Astronauts are taught How to Develop their Photographic Memory as a compulsory part of their training. In order for them to be able to store and retrieve massive amounts of vital and intricate information, they certainly need this skill.

We can all decide to take on and hold more information. In fact you only have to put aside about 10 minutes a day to start developing your Photographic Memory and achieve outstanding results… it really is this easy.

For the most of us we may remember learning some Photographic Memory Skills at a very young age.

I remember how I learned to recognize the alphabet…my teacher would say “D” is for…Dog…I learned very quickly to use association to remember the alphabet this way, you probably did too.

So if we start to use association in everyday things as often as we can we will start to Develop Our Photographic Memory very rapidly indeed.

So Perhaps Start with something Simple…

For example if you are not so good at remembering names and you are about to meet a new group of people, first just try and remember as many names as possible

1. Look the person in the eye and repeat their name immediately. Hi “Roy” nice to meet you.

2. Try to repeat their name again at least once without sounding unnatural, “look Roy nice to finally meet you” or something…

3. Use some form of “visual” association immediately. For example…”Roy is a Boy” …maybe more creative than that…or you could imagine ROY tattooed on his forehead etc

The thing is you can make your own rules on how you do this …

If you make it fun then chances are you will remember it easily.

So the next time you want to remember something attach some kind of feeling to it, this will help you when you need to recall it again. Once you use association – the brain then neatly stores it in the filing cabinet (memory) where it can easily be retrieved when called upon.

There are various ways or techniques that can be used to improve your memory. There are some who use mnemonics to remember facts while there are those who remember information by being attentive. Whether you use different ways to improve your memory, the important thing is you do what works for you.

Knowing a variety of techniques in improving memory is not enough, though. Food, nutrients, and lifestyle – all of these can affect your memory. How to increase short term memory with these in mind? Here are some things to remember if you want to know how to increase short term memory with a change in your lifestyle.

First, is to exercise daily. Having a routine exercise daily helps improve circulation in the body including the brain which means that an adequate amount of oxygen is delivered to the brain. Oxygen is like food for our brain and it helps the brain function well. This in turn, can help minimize or prevent the memory loss that comes with aging. Also, the mind is relaxed after physical exercise which is good for the body. You can go for a brisk walk, cycling, jogging or swimming daily. Not only does it help to keep the body fit but it also helps the brain to function well.

Another way to improve your memory is to eat well and eat right. Your choices in food can affect your physical appearance and overall health as well. The brain cells also need essential nutrients and vitamins. Feed you brain with supplement to improve memory
such as Thiamine, Vitamin B6 and Niacin which can be found in potatoes, okra, squash, wheat, chicken, beef and other vegetables. Have a good helping of vegetables and fruits daily because they contain a lot of vitamins good for the brain. Drinking tea, coffee and chocolate drinks in the right amount is also good for the brain as they contain caffeine which is a brain stimulant. Just remember that too much caffeine can cause too much excitation which can interrupt memory function.

Research has also shown that eating foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids like tuna, kiwi, walnuts and foods containing antioxidants such as broccoli, blueberries and spinach helps to promote healthy brain functioning. Also remember to drink 8-12 glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration which can impede good function of the brain and avoid drinking too much alcohol and smoking which can deteriorate and damage your brain.

Aside from eating and exercising well, the brain also needs the body to rest. While sleeping, the brain stores new memory, hence, the amount of sleep affects the brain’s ability to recall recently learned information. Have a good uninterrupted sleep for a minimum of seven hours a night. Insomnia and interrupted sleep would impair the ability of concentration and storage of information.
It is also important for you to reduce stress. Stress which is prolonged can affect the brain and can physically damage it. It inhibits the formation of new neurons needed by the brain to function well. Although stress could not be possibly eliminated totally, you can reduce and control it. Have relaxation time for yourself by reading a book, singing, going out with friends, going for a vacation or whatever works for you.

Having a healthy lifestyle is a good way on how improve memory. Not only does it promote good memory but it also promotes the overall condition of your body too.

Every individual wants to enhance his memory power especially for those who are getting older. This is because as our age increases, we experience short term memory loss. Thus, we want to find ways on how to improve our memory so that we can keep focused on the things that we do. But the concern on improving the memory power is not just for adults but also for the young people who want to have increased mental focus particularly to students who desire to excel in school.

How We are Losing our Mental Focus

Our age is the only factor and the older we get, our brain deteriorates. Our brain will show signs that its capacity is already declining which leads to memory loss. But, this can be controlled and even reversed. To maintain the efficiency of our brain at peak, we have to take a lot of rest, more oxygen, along with proper nutrition. This is because as our arteries harden as we grow old, our brain absorbs less oxygen.

Our lifestyle and diet will also determine the rate of mental loss that we will experience because our brain needs the important nutrients to function well. At the same time, the stress that we encounter and other mental problems that we have will prevent our mind to rest well.

How Can We Improve our Memory Power?

Good thing there are a lot of ways where you can enhance your memory power. You can start with taking natural herb supplement instead of prescription medications for they have side effects. Your body will respond favourably with herbal supplements and you will have sharper minds in no time without damaging the other parts of your body.

Change of Lifestyle to Help Improve Memory Power

Change your lifestyle by replacing your bad habits with healthy routine. If you do this habitually, you will experience sharper mind with no short term memory loss. With this, you will have greater productivity and with greater satisfaction with your daily activities.

• Eat healthy by making sure that you are taking daily the right amount of grains, fruits, vegetables, and those foods that are high in potassium and magnesium. Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water to improve your blood flow.
• Have a regular exercise to keep your body fit and at the same time to stimulate your brain through increased blood circulation.
• Make sure you keep your brain working by learning new skills and knowing new facts or information. Play mind games, read, and many others to reduce memory loss.
• Have enough sleep and rest and try to sleep eight hours per night for you to wake up refreshed and recharged the next day.
• Reduce stress in your life by resting your brain from stress through meditating or using Yoga to unload your daily pressures. You will have more focus if your brain is relaxed.

Conclusion

Your memory loss can be reversed if you have a healthy lifestyle and through taking a natural herbal supplement.

People who use Laminine say a lot of praises about this super food supplement. It has made a big impact on their lives and they are spreading good words about it. They have a lot of energy and stamina and even their appetite is easy to control. People are even more amazed when they discover that Laminine has the benefit of memory enhancement.

All of us suffer from lapses of memory and we begin to wonder if it is time to take memory enhancement supplements. We forget an item from the grocery or pass by the drugstore. We keep looking for our keys only to discover that it is already in our pockets. These situations are irritating and sometimes a nuisance. Good thing there is Laminine, a supplement that helps us to be healthy not only physically but also mentally.

People who discover Laminine have stories to confirm their experiences in memory enhancement, improvement in mental health and ability to focus more in whatever they are doing. Here are some of them.

Memory enhancement testimonial by Jonathan O.
An active athlete in his mid-twenties, he started taking Laminine to see how it could improve his mental focus at work and in sports. At first he did not experience any sudden change except for some extra energy at night but when he missed taking Laminine for a couple of days that is when he noticed the difference. He has less focus and less energy and he lost the desire to go into the gym after work. So, he began taking the supplement again.

Memory enhancement testimonial by Connie L.
She had 3 consecutive concussions in 2002 that resulted in the loss of her short-term memory ability. It was frustrating for her especially at work where she takes orders from customers. By the time she has to punch the order into the computer, she had forgotten the orders. The situation upset her so much that she has to take anti-depressants for years.
After taking Laminine, Connie said that she felt good and her mind feels clear.

Memory enhancement testimonial by Stephanie F.
She decided to buy Laminine to discover how it would affect her ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). She had previously tried various prescription medicines and would like to try something new that has no side effects. She noticed that with Laminine, her attention span was enhanced and the side effect she experienced was relief from her insomnia.

Memory enhancement testimonial by Les H.
Perhaps the most astonishing story that confirms Laminine as a memory enhancement supplement is about the father of Les H. who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease back in 2008. The disease got worse that Les’ siblings decided to put their parents in a care facility for safety and his father’s driver’s license was pulled out. By the middle of 2009, the doctors declared that his father will deteriorate by Christmas in terms of memory loss and life skills and they should prepare themselves for the changes. Les was in Russia or Dubai during his fathers’ worsening condition and was asked to come home for Christmas.
By September, Les decided to try Laminine on his father. After a couple of months, his father underwent a mini-mental checkup and the doctor said that his father seems better. Even his mother and siblings also noticed some enhancement in his memory. Although the result was short of being a great miracle, it was something to celebrate. His father was even thinking of driving again.

If you are thinking of taking memory enhancement supplements, you should buy Laminine and discover the many benefits that the stories above described.

Lets go back a step and try something that may help the association game.

Go into a quiet place in your house/home. Start looking around at stuff you have in the wardrobe on the shelves walls etc…. Find one thing that “brings back a memory” really try hard (you may not have to) to remember everything that you can about that memory, smell, touch, sound, feel… exercise the memory.

Having a good memory is important in any walk of life but it is crucial when you are running your own business. Without your memory there would be chaos. Most of us don’t trust our memory but how can you improve your memory in order to become more successful in business?

There are memory techniques that can be used to make the process easier. After all when you are running your own business there are so many different names of people to remember (and let’s be honest nobody instantly looks like their name.)

In order to improve your memory you will need to first of all learn to relax. Statistics show that amazingly more people fear public speaking than dying. Therefore it is imperative to learn how to relax and to find an easy method of storing information into your long term memory rather than just into your short term memory.

One of the easiest way to do this is by using association using your imagination. For example if you are due to meet with a Tony then try to visualise a famous person that you would associate with that name e.g. Tony Blair. Or if you are trying to remember a list of a different countries that manufactures items that you need to purchase then try again to use association to store that information into your long term memory. For example if the countries are China, France and Germany then why not imagine a china tea cup for China, the Eiffel tower for France and a famous tennis player like Boris Becker for Germany . It is a proven fact that it is far easier to remember a list of words by using images associated to those words that you are trying to remember.

If you are trying to learn a long list of numbers, which is quite likely when you are running your own business, again try breaking down the list of numbers and using your imagination to visualise those numbers as images instead.

For example if you are trying to remember the number 1915927525 then try breaking it down as follows:

1915…Try to visualise a clock showing that time

9…Think of a balloon on a string that resembles the number 9

2…Imagine a swan that resembles the number 2

7525…Think of something outrageous like a man of 75 marrying a woman of 25

Suddenly that important list of 10 numbers has been broken down into 4 images which will now make it easier to store that number into your long term memory.

The power of using association is that is allows us to store boring information in a more interesting way.

I have found these simple methods have helped me enormously within my business.
The simple memory techniques that I have learned have helped to improve my memory no end. Previously I had struggled to remember names, especially when I was meeting with so many new contacts, but I now just use the power of association in order to instantly remember their names and store them into my long term memory. I also use these methods when I make videos to promote my business as I find that I am far more relaxed and able to remember my script by using this simple method.

Indeed my ten year old daughter can even recite the first 10 numbers of the mathematical Pi number by using this simple technique and my eight year old daughter instantly remembers that there are 22 bones in an adult human skull merely by thinking of 2 swans that resemble the number two rather than trying to remember a number.

It is reassuring to know that in our ever busy lives there are quick and easy ways that we can improve our memories, which will help us to run our businesses more efficiently and in the process will enable us to relax and gain more confidence when meeting or speaking with others .All we need to do is to program our memory and to use it properly.
