Photographic Memory : Photographic Memory Techniques – Exposed

There are many photographic memory techniques claimed to be able to help you develop a photographic memory. There have been many studies showing that eidetic memory, also known as photographic memory, is questionable. It is a rare ability found in less than 10% of the population, and whilst you many not be born with this ability it is possible to acquire it. Many photographic memory techniques assist your brain by boosting your ability to remember information. Your study habits also play a part in this, as different people learn differently.

Having a photographic memory has many advantages which should not be discounted. However, it is not necessary to have a photographic memory to improve your studying abilities. It can be substituted with other methods such as mind mapping, or developing an efficient information categorization system. Alternatives also include only jotting down the main points that each chapter or book is trying to convey, and making sure you understand the concepts. Most people are unaware that whilst a photographic memory is an enviable skill, it is not without its disadvantages.

One of the key problems with having a photographic memory is that you tend to suffer from information overload, having been exposed to a lot of information that may be unimportant or irrelevant to you. Having to deal with such great amounts of information means that you are less efficient in recalling the specific information that is needed, and you may also have difficulties in forgetting things which are irrelevant to you. Having a good memory is not just about remembering, but about being able to forget.

Having said all that, if you are still interested in developing a photographic memory, you should turn to instruction on how to develop this skill. There are many books available, as well as tapes and DVDs that provide such instruction and techniques. The human mind functions in a similar way to a computer’s database, and it is important to find the right linkages in order to call up the right information. Humans are not designed to be databases for storing information. Your memory should be used to recall information that is relevant, rather than just for storing purposes! Keep in mind that a good instructional tool should teach you about learning, and not just about remembering.

Memory Techniques
Several people need to enhance their memory so as to create their lives easier, and thus higher and to become better people. We have a tendency to all have those moments where we tend to can’t realize one thing like our keys. Or, we tend to go into a area and we have a tendency to cannot remember what we entered that area for. We tend to might read a page in an exceedingly book and when we reach the underside of the page, we have a tendency to have forgotten what we have a tendency to have read. These are all examples of memory challenges that happen to many people. However, these challenges don’t necessarily mean that you’ve got a medical drawback like Alzheimer’s disease. There’s hope though. There are plenty of memory techniques that you’ll be able to utilize so as to enhance your memory.
So as to enhance your memory, there are various techniques which will be utilized. It’s definitely possible to own a sharp and powerful memory well into your old age. Perhaps the most vital issue to know regarding memory improvement is, that if you want to boost your memory, you have got to start using it.
We tend to don’t use our memory as usually as we should. Usually once we need to remember one thing (like searching lists) we write it down, not even trying to memorize it. Of course, there is extremely nothing wrong with writing some things down, it’s the best method to record and preserve information. However, if you examine it from the standpoint of your brain, additional helpful would be to memorize the information.
Several folks (and maybe you too) use excuses like: “I’ve got a dangerous memory” or “my memory is not what it used to be”.

You may even suppose that there is no manner you’ll bear in mind long lists and numbers, different names and faces, birthdays, dates etc. However this is simply NOT true! There is absolutely nothing wrong along with your memory. Your brain is capable of storing vast amounts of information and recalling it whenever required; it simply wants training.
Another issue many folks worry is that they’re merely too old to start out improving memory. However actually, the age of an individual extremely isn’t that massive of a factor. Your memory won’t decline very much with age, only when it is not used! That is why there are even young people with a poor memory; they merely are not using it enough.
Therefore, we already know that it does not matter how old you are and if you memory is poor to begin with. But, what do you need?
The only things needed for memory coaching are time and devotion.
It will take a long time before you begin noticing real results and it is simple to get discouraged. So, if you can’t bring yourself to speculate it slow and energy into memory coaching, you will positively fail. However grasp this: the a lot of you exercise, the a lot of you may be in a position to memorize. With training, you will eventually get to the point where remembering something is possible.

Using Brain Power Through Self Hypnosis Techniques : Brain Power

Article by Karen Winton

When someone speaks about hypnosis, a lot of people tend to imagine magicians, or psychiatrists. Though it may be true that the usual persons who rely on using brain power to achieve something are magicians and psychiatrists, you should become aware that there is a type of hypnosis that can be done by you, your friend, your loved one, in other words, ordinary individuals: self hypnosis.

There are many self hypnosis techniques that you can learn about. In learning self hypnotism, though, remember that using brain power may be the top requirement for your activity to be successful. There are several pros offered by hypnotizing oneself, however, the best advantage may be your chance of totally controlling your own brain. Through self hypnotism, you no longer need to be afraid of other people controlling your decisions.

The following are common self hypnosis techniques that are more often than not effective:

1. Decide first why you have to hypnotize yourself.

A very important hypnosis how to: think about your purpose. Ask yourself first what it is that you want to accomplish, or what it is that you want to discover. Learn to make a firm decision of what your goal is and stick to that same goal once you are in session.

You also have to make sure that your goal is stated in a positive way. For example: ‘I am excited about snorkeling and look forward to seeing the beauty of the ocean floor,’ is the right goal and not: ‘I am nervous about doing some snorkeling, but I want to see the beauty of the ocean floor so I have to do it’. Notice how the first statement used all positive words, while the next statement was written with negative words used.

2. Look into the details of your goal.

After you have formulated your goal, one of the best self hypnosis techniques is to write down all the reasons why you want that goal achieved as well as your expected results once you’ve reached that specific goal.

Remember that learning to hypnotize oneself is just like using brain power, so it is important to list down stuff and commit them to memory. In this way, you give more strength to your subconscious mind, which, believe it or not, is very powerful.

It is also best to read to yourself what you have written and repeat those statements for a few times to boost your brain power. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you can write statements like: ‘I will run daily so I can have a sexier body,’ then read those statements over and over to yourself.

3. Hold your hypnosis session in a quiet location free from distractions.

Another excellent hypnosis how to: perform hypnosis in a place where you are sure you won’t be disturbed. Among the best self hypnosis techniques is making certain that you won’t be disturbed once you start self hypnotism. Turn off your mobile phone, lock your door, and put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door. Learning self hypnotism means being able to have good focus and being able to be in a relaxed state for hypnotism to work.

It is not very difficult to learn hypnotism on yourself. By applying the self hypnosis techniques discussed above and by doing more research about using brain power the right way, you can find yourself successfully accomplishing self hypnosis.

Karen Winton finds self hypnosis appealing. Want to get rid of all bad memories? Reformatting Your Unconscious Mind will do the trick. To have a more positive outlook, try: Better Living With Hypnosis.

Brain Enhancement Methods Techniques Software and New technology Tools : Brain Foods

Article by Leon Edward

Brain Enhancement can be attained with natural and technical methods both rather quickly and longer term more permanent results. You will be glad you spent the extra effort in optimizing your brain power and maintaining brain health for your entire life. Being smarter and optimizing your IQ, you will also be happier and more than likely financially successful.

Some short term fixes that can show improvent almost immediately include simply improving your posture, correctly breathing, modifying your diet – yes you can be more intelligent, smarter and be happier in life just by giving yourself the right fuel, having the right diet and even boosting performance with supplements as simple as caffeine in limited amounts.

A brain needs a lot of water and oxygen for optimal functioning. It is estimated that your brain will use about one fifth of your entire oxygen consumption. even though the brain makes up hardly any of your entire body weight. If you take away oxygen supply from us, our brain performance decreases immensely. If you start to feel drowsy, even lazy and not that alert, get some fresh air, walk down to the water cooler for a double dose of brain food, oxygen and water.

After large meals, our digestive processing uses up a good portion of the available oxygen in biochemical reactions and limits the oxygen percentage that the brain receives through the blood transport. Subsequently, many of us feel sleepy after such a large meal. A suggestion here is rather than eat three full meals a day, choose twice as many smaller meals or snacks. Many work lifestyles might prevent breaking throughout the day even for a few minutes, so there is another way. It is to chew up your food extremely well allowing some breakdown of food or digestion to occur within the mouth alleviating the stomach of the full oxygen depleting digestion processing.

Blood transports nutrients and oxygen to our brain which needs a vast amount of blood circulation. Of course blood is made up of mostly water, so its easy to see the role of water in optimizing brain functioning here, drinking water is essential for optimal concentration and mental alertness.

The brain needs a constant supply. So do not reach the point where your mouth is dry and your desperately needing water. At that point, you are already dehydrated. Keep a steady supply of water throughout the day, keep sipping it as you work or exercise or even watching television. Long term, brainwave patterns have been entrained to match electrical frequencies associated with advanced brain functioning. By listening to computer generated tones that are emitted at specific frequencies, your brain’s electrical impulses will match these generated electrical impulses. We can thank how we were created for our brain’s ability to in a sense learn without having to learn.

Brainwave entrainment can actually be a shortcut to success as brain wave patterns can be developed quickly instead of the method of many super successful in the past often requiring decades of training to form their neural pathways. The practice of entrainment relies on our brain’s ability to adapt to the preferred frequencies simply by listening to the corrected patterns in certain deep states of mind.

Meditation is a natural method that has been scientifically proven in some cases to effect the brain physically. First, meditation allows better breathing and with it the benefits of oxygen and improved blood flow as previously written here. Meditation can be learned from a beginner book from your library, articles on the web written by authorities in this field, and of course specialized training which can become quite expensive.

The benefits of meditation are worth it to many, as it is known to create a sense of heightened awareness, better focus, increased learning ability, improved recall and long term memory. Being quiet and listening in the learned relax state can provide your brain with better performance as actually processing information becomes more efficient as proven with the latest brain technology monitoring.

Simple self hypnosis has shown improvement to a limited extent in accelerated learning, absorbing information faster with eye movement and still increasing comprehension. Some hypnosis in repeated sessions will increase the processing of information and subsequently recall. This is an area that has definitely shown proven results in brain improvement, however the reliability has not been flawless as some people will not be changed.

The scientific community has also discovered that our brains have a hidden potential for improvement, creative thinking and optimal usage. Minimizing the detrimental effects that effect brain optimization is another field of study by many and a topic with too numerous fail modes to include all here in detail.

Besides the physical limitations by lack of oxygen, water, exercise, incorrect nutrients, there exists new causes of brain degradation all of which are not clearly defined. Poor effects are known already from harmful stress, negative thoughts, distractions, excessive noise, alcohol, chemicals and more.

There is new hope as well as great strides are being made in researching radiant thinking, mind mapping, linear thinking, creative visualization and effects, imagery, positive thoughts, positive surroundings and effects of affirmations…

Remember, your brain cells crave stimulation. Use your brain throughout life. If your work doesn’t challenge you, go out and play brain games even, write, keep a daily journal.

Some of the great minds in history as Thomas Edison, Isaac Newton, Thomas Faraday, Einstein, even Steven Hawking (electronically) were compulsive journal or diary maintainers and many people in a wide variety of professional disciplines have proven the IQ building effects of daily journal success, themselves being super high achievers.

At whatever intelligence level you are at now, you can improve your brain functioning and maintain optimal performance as you age.

Techniques to Boost Brain Power

The improvement of our brainpower is not a one off effort, but requires a long term commitment. It is not something that can be fixed from one day to the next. However there are a number of methods that can be applied straight away and just have to be kept up on a day by day basis. The idea is to stimulate the brain correctly by challenging the parts of it that have gone rusty. Here are a few ways to do this:

Use all your senses: most of the time we only implement two of our senses, sight and hearing. Try to imagine what would happen if we were to block out either of these. I will tell you what happens. Our brain will try to compensate for the lack of information coming in from one of the sources of information about our suuoundings by working harder with the remaining senses (you’ve seen the movie Daredevil). Joking aside, blocking one of our senses at a time will indeed stimulate the brain to make an extra effort and thereby make the remaining senses more powerful.
Provided you’re not doing an activity in which you are putting yourself or others in danger like driving or operating machinery, you can try to do some of your every day activities blindfolded or with blocked ears. You might want to do these things while alone as to not look like a crazy person. Try doing simple things like eating blindfolded or playing video games with ear plugs. You will find yourself straining the remaining senses in order to complete the tasks properly. Mainly, the more time you spend doing these exercises, the better you will become at them as your brain improves to make you proficient with the new handicap.

Normal objects, new use: This is another great exercise for the brain with which you will reap great rewards in terms of creativity, and completely for free.

This is how it is done: choose a single everyday object on which to focus.
Once the item is identified you want to start making a list of other uses that can be carried out by that object.
Obviously the aim is to not go for the obvious like writing with a pencil. Have a go at making up other ways of implementing that object such as poking a penguin with the same pencil. Don’t stop at one or two alternative uses. Aim for 10 or 20. Don’t stop until your creative muse has run dry. When this happens, move on to the next boring object to revamp.

Sample with the senses: Over time we have become so focused on visual stimuli that all the other senses are left to one side, their development stunted. What this ends up in is mental stagnation. In order to keep our mind on top form we need to try and get the other senses activated to a greater extent. Here are couple of ways to do this:
The next time you go to the supermarket buy a range of different products of the same element. Try a range of five chocolates, milk brands, bread, etc. Then, at home, try blindfolding yourself and trying to tell the product apart by smelling, tasting and/or feeling them.

The whole idea is to challenge all the parts of our brain that have been left alone without being offered to flourish to their full potential. This exercise is especially easy while travelling as we will encounter new foods all the time and will be able to make more educated decisions when it comes to our meals if we apply this technique once or twice a week.

Willingness to practice the memory improvement techniques plays the key part : Photographic Memory

Article by Jeff Thomas

Everybody wants to gain skills like that of the popular mentalists. So why are not everybody becoming like that? The only reason i can think of is laziness.I agree that i am not a mentalist. But since 24 months,i have been practicing hard and believe it or not,i will surely say that my performance at everything has grown in a monstrous way.I am a big fan of the photographic memory improvement techniques and i think nothing can beat them in increasing a person’s memorization power. But i may be wrong though since i have not tried any other method and am fully concentrating on the photographic techniques.Anyway, once i master this technique and i will move on to the other ones which have also been long known as the best techniques for memorization.

The photographic memory, according to me,plays the key part in teaching anyone how to memorize as quickly as possible. It is like capturing anything as a picture and later bringing that in focus and extracting details out of it.I can say it this way too.Suppose say there are a group of men standing in front of you and you want to remember all their faces. One thing you can do is photograph them and then see the photo again and again to recall their faces later in life.Similarly, instead of using a camera, use your brain to capture them as a picture visually and store in your mind.Retention is also important in addition to storage. There are three vital things you need to master to get the most out of your precious brain power:

1.temporary storage,

2.storing the data in permanent storage,

2.extracting the information when needed.

All these are required if you want to become a mentalist too.But all these need is your willingness to learn and practice all memorization techniques which is what most people lack as already mentioned at the beginning of this article.

How and Why does it work?

Simply put, if you can count and know your abc’s you can use these tips to improve your memory. We all have the ability to retain separate images in our minds quite easily, and by using this kind of system of combining different elements, the images remain quite distinct from one another. Since they are sequence based with a system we are already familiar with, that of counting, we know we won’t miss anything important.

Check out this FACT: When Albert Einstein died they opened up his head to look at his brain. It was actually smaller than average size! However, he used much more than most people. By practicing these memory “stunts” you will enable yourself to retain larger amounts of information. Being a genius is not so much as being smart or clever, but about seeing how one part of life fits with another part of life. The more you know, the more you can link them together. So let’s start thinking like a genius!

An example of this practice is remembering numbers. Let’s try an easy one 81476. Try to picture each number as a shape or object. (8) how about a snowman. (1) how about a paint brush. (4) how about a sail of a yacht. (7) how about a cliff. (6) maybe a trunk of an elephant. Now create a quick story linking them together. The snowman was using a paintbrush to paint his yacht on a cliff while feeding his pet elephant. While numbers tend to get jumbled in our head this method gives a visual that can be remembered a lot more easily. While this might seem complicated, having a standard shape or object for each number (at all times) will make it simple with practice.

Unfortunately, you can not decide where something goes into your memory – into short term or into long term! In fact, it will ALWAYS go into short term memory first and requires further effort to get it into the long term memory area. It’s like having a filing tray and a filing cabinet. You can only store so much in the filing tray until you need to get it into the cabinet.

It might not be too surprising to note that there is a significant link with good nutrition and a powerful memory. After all. The building blocks of the brain are organic, the electrical signals are produced from the body. The results are that the better you eat the better you are able to perform. More information on this and many other topics can be found at the authors website. Try to work these skills into your everyday life and you will guarantee results.

It’s frustrating to be continuously forgetting items, continuously being required to make note of names, phone numbers and necessary details. Then even more infuriating when you forget where you have put your records. Well, memorization techniques will let you lower that disappointment. You won’t need to have that little notebook, that PDA, that smartphone, to remember the important things since you can certainly coach yourself to remember a whole lot more than you ever believed was attainable for you. Appointments, nicknames, telephone numbers, plus more – they’ll all be easy for you to remember without whipping out those notes when you frequently take advantage of memorization techniques. There are a lot more than a few strategies to help the average person engrave data for a longer time, or even permanently, in his or her memory banks. Like for example , repeating what you are looking to commit to memory, associating them with illustrations or photos that could set off your memory, or writing them down in little ditties as well as stories.

Repetition

Repetition is a common practice when individuals prefer to remember things for the forseeable future. Everybody has had to make use of it one time or another. For instance, when somebody rattles off a phone number and you rush for the telephone saying it again and again. Repetition is also a memorization technique employed by a great deal of students who want to remember their lessons when confronted with a quiz. This is a quick fix for both long term and short term memory concerns. Saying the information to yourself frequently could make the mind recall more easily, may it be a group of numbers, people, information from your textbook, and many others.

Images are Simpler to Remember

You have heard of a photographic memory before, right? Individuals with such talents think in images, and this particular memorization technique is simply as efficient with just about every individual intellect as it might be with them. For instance, an individual who would like to keep in mind the numbers 0124 could possibly picture a clown smoking a cigarette while balancing four balls. Remembering that you might want two bulbs for example, could possibly make use of the image of a light switch which has two settings.

Tell a Story, Sing a Song

Generating a story or just a little song is usually both a fun and productive way to recollect things. You may make the story on your own, or modify existing ones. For instance, let’s take the ‘Ten Little Pigs’ ditty for children. Assuming you have a grocery list you need to recall, then start out: ‘This little pig went to market, buying tea, cookies, shirts, and apples. This little pig stayed at home, wanting tea, cookies, shirts, apples, and mint….’ And so forth. You get the drift. This is only one demonstration of the memorization techniques you may use to trap and secure the points that always manage to slip your thoughts.

Three Memory Techniques To Help You Learn A Foreign Language : Memory Exercises

Article by Maria Markella

Learning a new language can be a difficult task. But if you use these simple memory exercises/techniques you could be start learning a new language in no time.

Memory technique A: The One Hundred WordsThere’s not a lot to say about this particular technique. I know it works for me. The idea is that you only need a 100 strong words to cover over 50% of all words used in a conversation. By learning those 100 strong words you are one step ahead in speaking a new language or at least perform a basic conversation.

But what are those 100 strong words? It depends on the language and yourself. It’s up to you to decide on the strong words since each individual uses and/or is affected by words in a unique way. You can create a list of words and keep adding words to the list. Start with the ten first numbers from one to ten. Then add words you use very often. You must find the hundred top words of your everyday vocabulary.

After you’ve finished your word list in your native language write down the words from the foreign language next to the words from your native language. Exercise on learning/memorizing the new words and you will notice significant improvement in the way you talk to others using the foreign language.

Memory technique B: The MnemonicsThe idea behind this technique is to use images to link words between your native language and the foreign language. What you do is to associate all words with images in your mind. Then you start linking words by connecting images and create new.

Here’s an example of how to create images of words in your mind:You want to learn the Greek word for the English word “Eagle”. First you imagine an eagle opening its huge wings and flying over the mountains. After creating that image in your mind its time to look at the Greek word which in this case is “Aetos”. When you read/say the Greek word, try to picture the same image in your brain, the one of the eagle flying through the clouds. That way your brain will instantly create a connection between the new word and the image of the eagle. This technique will help you learn and remember new words effectively and easily.

Memory Technique C: The Environment MnemonicThis method is quite sophisticated and is based on the fact that the basic vocabulary of every language is somehow connected/linked to everyday things in your environment (You should define your environment, whether it is a room, a house, a village, a city etc). You should start with a place/location you are familiar with. The idea is to start connecting words with objects/locations in your environment.

For example you could associate in your mind the word “Library” with an image of the local library and the word “Book” with images of the books inside the library. You could associate the word “Park” with a park in your town and the word “Tree” with the trees in the park.

This method is so fun and easy when trying to create phrases by using a combination of the above memory techniques. You could easily create an image of a phrase like this one “..I went to the local library to get a book and then I went to the park to read the book..”.

It’s aggravating to be continuously forgetting things, often needing to make a note of names, telephone numbers and essential material. Then from time to time even forgetting the spot where you put the notes. Well, memorization techniques will allow you to ease that frustration. If you actually can learn to bear in mind the items you would like to remember, then good bye to that little notepad and pen. Is it workable? Of course! The human mind can always be prepared to gain better memory skills. Days, monikers, numbers, and more – they are going to all be simple for you to recollect without whipping out those notes if you consistently apply memorization techniques. There are much more than a few different ways to help the average individual engrave details for a longer period, or even for good, in his or her memory banks. For instance , repeating what you want to commit to memory, associating these with graphics which can activate your memory, or writing them down in little ditties or even stories.

Repetition

Repetition is a very common exercise when people desire to keep in mind things for the short term. Unquestionably you’ve used it. For instance, when somebody rattles off a telephone number and you dash for the telephone saying it again and again. Repetition also is a memorization technique applied by a great deal of students who would like to recall their courses in the face of a quiz. It’s actually a fast solution for both long term and short term memory issues. Repeating facts like names, a range of numbers, contact information, and the like can engrave them into the memory so you won’t forget easily.

Develop Your Image Association Ability

You have heard of a photographic memory prior to now, correct? People who have such abilities think in imagery, and this specific memorization technique is certainly as productive with each and every individual intellect as it might be with them. One example is, an individual who would like to bear in mind the numbers 0124 might envision a clown smoking a cigarette while keeping up with four balls. Recollecting that you’ll require two bulbs for example, may possibly use the image of a light switch containing two settings.

Tell a Tale, Sing a Tune

Setting up a story or a little song is often both a fun and valuable way to recollect things. You may create the story all by yourself, or alter existing ones. As an example, let’s take the ‘Ten Little Pigs’ ditty for children. When you’ve got a shopping list you would like to remember, then get started: ‘This little pig went to market, buying tea, cookies, shirts, and apples. This little pig stayed at home, wanting tea, cookies, shirts, apples, and mint….’ And stuff like that. You get the idea. This is certainly only one particular instance of the memorization techniques you may use to trap and hold the things which always appear to slip your mind.
