Using Brain Power Through Self Hypnosis Techniques : Brain Power

Article by Karen Winton

When someone speaks about hypnosis, a lot of people tend to imagine magicians, or psychiatrists. Though it may be true that the usual persons who rely on using brain power to achieve something are magicians and psychiatrists, you should become aware that there is a type of hypnosis that can be done by you, your friend, your loved one, in other words, ordinary individuals: self hypnosis.

There are many self hypnosis techniques that you can learn about. In learning self hypnotism, though, remember that using brain power may be the top requirement for your activity to be successful. There are several pros offered by hypnotizing oneself, however, the best advantage may be your chance of totally controlling your own brain. Through self hypnotism, you no longer need to be afraid of other people controlling your decisions.

The following are common self hypnosis techniques that are more often than not effective:

1. Decide first why you have to hypnotize yourself.

A very important hypnosis how to: think about your purpose. Ask yourself first what it is that you want to accomplish, or what it is that you want to discover. Learn to make a firm decision of what your goal is and stick to that same goal once you are in session.

You also have to make sure that your goal is stated in a positive way. For example: ‘I am excited about snorkeling and look forward to seeing the beauty of the ocean floor,’ is the right goal and not: ‘I am nervous about doing some snorkeling, but I want to see the beauty of the ocean floor so I have to do it’. Notice how the first statement used all positive words, while the next statement was written with negative words used.

2. Look into the details of your goal.

After you have formulated your goal, one of the best self hypnosis techniques is to write down all the reasons why you want that goal achieved as well as your expected results once you’ve reached that specific goal.

Remember that learning to hypnotize oneself is just like using brain power, so it is important to list down stuff and commit them to memory. In this way, you give more strength to your subconscious mind, which, believe it or not, is very powerful.

It is also best to read to yourself what you have written and repeat those statements for a few times to boost your brain power. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you can write statements like: ‘I will run daily so I can have a sexier body,’ then read those statements over and over to yourself.

3. Hold your hypnosis session in a quiet location free from distractions.

Another excellent hypnosis how to: perform hypnosis in a place where you are sure you won’t be disturbed. Among the best self hypnosis techniques is making certain that you won’t be disturbed once you start self hypnotism. Turn off your mobile phone, lock your door, and put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door. Learning self hypnotism means being able to have good focus and being able to be in a relaxed state for hypnotism to work.

It is not very difficult to learn hypnotism on yourself. By applying the self hypnosis techniques discussed above and by doing more research about using brain power the right way, you can find yourself successfully accomplishing self hypnosis.

Karen Winton finds self hypnosis appealing. Want to get rid of all bad memories? Reformatting Your Unconscious Mind will do the trick. To have a more positive outlook, try: Better Living With Hypnosis.

Brainwave entrainment has been shown in numerous studies to help improve the powers of your mind. When you push mental performance higher and fine tune a brainwave state, it’s obvious why your mind can benefit. There are many different frequencies out there. The normal brainwave range is the beta level, of 12-18hertz. This can be worked quite quickly and made more specific through the focus of your mind. If you want to meditate or think more deeply about things, lowering the frequency to 10hertz or below will help you.

Cure Erectile Dysfunction – Naturally Using The Konov Principle : Memory Exercises

Article by sacha tarkovsky

ED, or erectile dysfunction, affects over 50% of men over 50, and as a man ages, that number raises dramatically.

The blue pills, have become one the world’s largest selling medicine due to this condition. However, all the blue pills have unpleasant side-effects, and some men cannot take them due to their need to take other medications, here is a way to cure ED which is little known and can be highly effective.

Can ED really be cured naturally?

The answer is yes! The method is the use of the Konov Principle, and learning about how to contact and engage your genetic memory.

The Konov Principle

First suggested by the Russian filmmaker and thinker, Sergey Konov, the Konov Principle suggests that each person can contact and remember (physically if not mentally) their genetic memory.

Genetic memory is akin to Rupert Sheldrake’s morphogenetic field, but more specific and concerned with the genetic storage of life events of each person.

By getting in conscious contact with one’s genetic memory, a person can trigger those responses the body made when it was young and healthy. A good example, when concerned with ED, is that one’s genetic memory has all the records of the body’s responses when it had no problem with ED.

By “remembering” via one’s genetic memory, one can induce those same responses, at least partially, and arrive at state where the body is receiving the same doses of hormones, and proteins it did when there was no ED.

Getting in Touch with our Genetic Memory

There are certain memory exercises that can be used to get in conscious contact with their genetic memory. For this article, here is the simplest one. By daily practice of this exercise, one will be able to recall his earlier pattern, and the body will respond to conscious will to repeat it.

While sitting in a comfortable position, one can practice breathing exercises to relax. This is a yogic exercise called “watching the breath”. While sitting comfortably, start mentally watching your breath. Feel and then see the air rushing in and out, and down to the lung, and into each small areole. Do this for about 5 minutes.

As you are relaxed, visualize you can see inside your body. Follow this new power and look into a familiar organ related to your problem, and in this case ED. Go deep into your body and come to the testicles. This is an obvious area, and indeed, the cells of the testicle are charged with male hormones.

Keep visualizing going deeper until you are in a cell itself.

Find the chromosomes (they are in the cell nucleus), and you can see them all twisted up together, as if strands of spaghetti.

Go deeper till you see the proteins themselves that comprise the DNA.

Go deeper still till all you see are the waves of atoms (as if watching the sea) and there you will notice pure intelligence. There is the place where the genetic memory is stored.

When you have visualized this, see the place when your body was at its very best moment.

You can see this as the area is surrounded by a bright and peaceful light. Now, simply gaze upon it, and when you feel you have irradiated that area with your thought, now remember yourself when you were young and virile. Recall your rock-hard erections, and burning libido. When those thoughts have become conscious, slowly go back to watching your breath, and then stop the exercise.

What have you achieved?

You have, if done properly and sincerely, stimulated yourself at the cellular, even molecular level. This, if repeated with sincere effort, will cause the body to begin releasing the chemicals and nervous impulses it did when you originally had them.

Your libido will naturally increase, and moreover, the contacting of your genetic memory with active thought will in full or part, cause your body to follow suit. You will find yourself feeling young and virile once again and cure erectile dysfunction naturally without medication.

Improve Your Short-Term Memory Using These Strategies : Short Term Memory

Article by Arnold Smith

Various types of memory are stored in different parts of the human brain. Quickly, the brain is able to access information that we need to carry out specific activities like when a student takes an exam, facts and information need to be readily available. But our minds do not always allow us to retrieve the memories when we need them. Sometimes it’s trivial, like when we tear the house apart looking for the glasses that have been sitting on our heads the whole time. Sometimes these memory lapses are embarrassing like when you forget your best friend’s birthday. Gratefully memory lapses are not a done deal. You do not have to live with this the rest of your life. Improving your memory is not impossible. There are some easy techniques that you can do to enhance your recollection of information. It does not matter if you are a District Attorney arguing a complex case or someone who is worried about passing the LCATs, there are a few things that everyone can do to improve their memory.

I know you have heard people say, tying a string around your finger to remember something, don’t you? Amusing as it may sound, this actually makes sense. By putting something in your environment slightly askew, you can create a visual reminder for yourself. It is important to take the time to create a strong visualization for why there is a string around your finger. This will better help you to remember what it is you are trying to remember. You don’t always have to use a string. You can try wearing a ring on a different finger and/or wearing your wrist watch on the opposite hand. You can also try using an object in your environment. For example, if you are driving to work and need to remember to pick up your dry cleaning, try placing something on your dashboard blocking your view of the road after you park the car. You won’t forget to pick up your dry cleaning because your view will be blocked with the strange object.

When trying to recall recent information, using visualization and association will help you to accomplish this. This technique requires you to transform words into graphic images so that you recall the words better. For example, let’s say that you need to remember that you have a doctor’s appointment at three in the afternoon and you don’t want to forget it. Try visualizing an image for three, make it funny and amusing. This could be the story of the “Three Little Pigs.” Visualize those three little pigs waiting around in the doctor’s office talking to other patients and reading US Today. Funny images that are associated with whatever it is that you are trying to remember helps the brain to recall them better. Remembering your important doctor’s appointment at three o’clock won’t be so difficult because now you will quickly relate it to that funny image of the three pigs.

Improving your memory does not have to be difficult. Using easy methods like the ones suggested can help tremendously. If you put your tricks into action everyday, it will get to be a habit and you will begin to have an easier time remembering things that you once had a hard time with.

Arnold Smith has compiled a FREE mini-course that will greatly improve your memory. His course is packed with great innovative ways and techniques to increase recollection of information. If you are ready to get to the root of your memory loss and improve your memory information,Visit his website on improve memory in 30 days or less.

Benefits of Trying to Attract Success Using Subliminal MP3s : Subliminal MP3

Article by Arian David

Who would not desire to be successful? Everyone does from the lowest position in society to the highest in the land. Success is such a big word and embodies men’s deepest desires, hopes and dreams. But what is it really that drives man to search for it and work for it?

We are wonderful creations of God and we are here for a purpose. That may well be to live an abundant and prosperous life and glorifying God who equipped us with talents right from the beginning to be the best person we can be. Harnessing those potentials is an act of becoming – but it depends on us. We are endowed with a free will to make our choices of what we will be and how to be.

Success is defined as the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. So what is it we desire – wealth, eminence, harmony, peace, love? It does not have to be one or the other but may happen in its own time and in varying degrees. Living in a material world, people often equate success with material wealth to the exclusion of other life-affirming values like love of family, love of country, peaceful co-existence, harmonious cooperation and the like. But you and I know that wealth alone does not guarantee happiness and personal satisfaction.

We have in ourselves that creative energy that made it possible to explore nature’s provision for man’s interests. We also have men and women in our midst that in their brilliance, guided by a sense of purpose/direction, commitment to work, enthusiasm and perseverance, made great advances in science and technology. We are now in a highly computerized world and can reap the benefits it brings. For example, we can try to attract success using subliminal mp3s. We can aim to develop the above named qualities and more with the use of this devise.

Why can’t we just program ourselves to be achievers and not have to rely on trying to attract success using subliminal mp3s? Many self-directed individuals are open to new opportunities; they will likely see its benefits in its use. There are many, however, who needs the push to be success-oriented and stay on that course. There are indeed many lessons to be learned to achieve one’s purpose but due to fears, negativity and perceived limitations of abilities, the individual himself becomes the obstacle to attaining success.

Motivators or inspired individuals advise ‘to think about our purpose…and dream about it.‘ This is when trying to attract success using subliminal mp3s would surely be a great tool. It can imprint its messages to the brain when one is relaxed, out in the fields on a walk or going about one’s daily routine/tasks. As it works on a subconscious level, one is not aware of it but surely, changes would be evident, such as a rise in one’s level of energy in getting things done or in taking risks when one used to be overcautious. It may be coming home for dinner instead of being out with friends or stopping a bad habit by taking up a profitable and fun hobby.

The list is endless. It really depends on what good things you wish to bring into your life. What seems to be impossible to bring about before would now be within reach as one goes on receiving messages to change one’s life to what is desirable and what one desires. Indeed to attract success using subliminal mp3s is one big bargain that should not be missed.

Short Term Memory : Using Vitamins to Improve Your Memory

Article by Martin Mak

Can vitamins help you improve your memory? An Australian study has found that older folks who took vitamin B12 and folic acid (vitamin B9) supplements for two years had greater improvements on short and long term memory tests compared to adults who did not.

Though the results were modest, they were certainly encouraging according to Dr Janine Walker, a researcher of Australian National University and one of the authors of the study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. She said “Vitamins may have an important role in promoting healthy ageing and mental well-being, as well as sustaining good cognitive function for longer on a community-wide scale.

In tests, researchers asked more than 700 people aged 60 to 74 years to take a daily dose of 400 micrograms of folic acid and 100 micrograms of vitamin B12, or placebo pills that resembled the vitamins. Participants did not know which pills they were assigned to take.

The test subjects were chosen because they had showed signs of depression although none had been diagnosed with clinical depression. Dr Walker said, “We felt that older people with elevated depression symptoms were an important cohort to target given evidence that late life depression is associated with increased risk of cognitive impairment.”

There seemed to be no difference between the groups in how well people scored on mental tests, including those on memory, attention and speed. after a year. But after 2 years, those who took the vitamins showed more, if modest, improvement in their scores on the memory tasks.

On a short-term test, for instance, those who took the fake pills improved their score from 5.2 to 5.5 over 2 years. Those who took the vitamins raised their test scores from 5.16 to 5.6.

Using short term memory, a person dials a number that someone has just told him, while long term memory comes into play when he calls that number a day or week later.

The mechanism on how taking vitamins might work to improve brain function is not yet clear. Perhaps the vitamins reduce the body’s levels of a molecule called homocysteine, which is linked to cardiovascular disease and poor cognitive function.

The idea is that lowering homocysteine could perhaps reduce the cardiovascular risk and in turn, after mental function.

Further tests are needed, including that on whether other groups of people, especially those older than the people in the study, would also benefit from taking Vitamins.

Martin Mak has developed a new program to help people enhance their memory and learning experience. Find out how with his free and popular ecourse athttp://www.mightymemory.com

Boost Your Brain Power Using Neurobics : Brain Power

Article by Greg Frost

Neurons refer to nerve cells found in the human brain. Neurobiologists highly recommend neurobics as the most appropriate exercise to boost your brain power. The habits you are currently used to are responsible for your current results. You can also improve or better your results if you change your habits. There are several ways to boost your brain power which people can employ and get desirable outcomes. However, this article intends to highlight only the major strategies that can be used by different ages to boost brain power. All the strategies that are discussed here are in form of exercises:

1. Developing motor pathways. This is an essential exercise recommended for people in all ages. Even at old age, you can employ this exercise to boost your brain power. Tightening up connections as well as new pathways is quite simple so long as a person is consistent in the exercise. For the right-handed, try using your left hand when changing clothes, making phone calls, eating, writing among other activities that you perform using your right hand. This exercise helps in creating new pathways for nerves and aids to boost your brain power.

2. Cognitive ability. This might involve playing your favorite game or doing any other activity that will task your mind. For instance, use a new way to reach the workplace such as using a new path, traveling different directions, changing the position you sit in an office or using a different chair, disarranging the contents of your table among other adjustments in your daily routine. This is where brainwave entrainment technology comes in, such as watching a new movie on the latest DVD. Such movies require extra thinking hence boost your brain power. Stagnation in habits bars the growth and development of your brain. If you are used to watching soaps, try watching horror movies and your brain will definitely be ignited.

3. Stimulating other senses. Just like the first strategy, try to do things differently. For instance, closing your eyes when carrying out ordinary activities such as taking a bath, dressing, washing dishes will ignite and develop dormant senses that you rarely use in the course of your daily activities. For instance, blind people have a superior auditory sense as compared to people with acute eyesight. Blind people also have a sharp sense of touch and smell and can identify people they regularly interact with just by touching them or smelling them. Boosting brain power requires more than just carrying out the ordinary activities.

4. Having enough sleep and rest. It is recommended that sleeping for eight hours in the 24-hour cycle will greatly boost your brain power. Lack of enough sleep and rest leads to a feeling of stress. The lesser the stress, the more your mental functioning will be. The current economic hardships have seen people spending as little 3 hours on sleep to make ends meet. Beware, such habits will have adverse effects on the functionality of your brain which you need for the success of your chores.

Neurobics protect your brain cells from aging, boost brain power, improve cognitive function and reduce your vulnerability to Alzheimer’s disease.

Using a Food Label to Pick Foods that Make You Full & Avoid Those That Cause Hunger : Brain Foods

Article by Richard Lipman M.D.

The best method to minimize hunger and therefore overeating is to pick foods and beverages that prevent hunger and avoid foods that cause hunger. I suggest picking foods based on the following three techniques that require only a food label: Food Label Tells Us Characteristics of Foods Producing Fullness:

1. Low Energy density2. High protein (> 10grams/portion)3. Low sugar (< 10 grams/portion)4. High fiber (> 2.5 g grams/portion)

1. Foods with Low Energy Density Produce Fullness Energy density (ED) is the quantity of energy or calories in food related to its weight (and its volume). It is usually presented as the calories per gram of foods. Foods with low energy density provide large portions with few calories–foods with a lot of water or air. Foods with high density have smaller portions containing more calories.

Foods with Low, Medium and High Energy Densities Energy Density(ED) = calories in food divided by weight in oz. or grams

Very Low ED foods: 0- 0.6 calories per gram include lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, cantaloupe, apples, low fat milk, carrots, soups.

Low ED foods: 0.6 to 1.5 calories per gram include whole milk, grapes, bean, peas, bananas, cheerios, baked potato, ham, and tuna

Medium ED foods: 1.5 to 4.0 include rice, eggs, beef, fish, skim milk cheeses, air popped popcorn Eating foods with low ED permits eating larger portions which results in more fullness, satisfaction and fewer feelings of deprivation. Incorporating low ED foods like non-creamed based soups, fruits and vegetables into a meal reduces subsequent calorie consumption in that meal. Dr Barbara Rolls noted that the participants eating an appetizer before lunch– either a soup or a salad were much less hungry than those that did not eat the appetizer and ended up eating one third less food in the subsequent meal. Satiety is related to both the weight and the volume of food. Even the visual cues of seeing a large portion on one’s p

Tips on Picking Foods with the Lowest Energy Density:

Breads, cereals, pasta, riceSelect those with the highest fiber, such as whole wheat or brown rice. White breads are slightly higher. High fiber breakfast cereals are often the best. You need to watch the portions here.

Vegetables: Most vegetables are great, including green vegetables, tomatoes, green beans and squash. Starchy vegetables like potatoes, corn, peas, lentils are little higher. Fried vegetables like French fries (3.2) and onion rings (4.1) are among the worst choices.

Fruits: Almost all fruits are good; watch the canned or dried fruits. Watch out for fruit juices they have low energy densities, but lots of calories and sugar.

Foods with multiple ingredients: soups stand out as having some of the lowest energy densities, less than 1.0.

2. Some Food Groups Increase Fullness, Others Cause More Hunger

Some foods are better than others in producing fullness. Of all the food groups, proteins are the most filling, satisfying, and protective against hunger. Low-carb diets often succeed because of this. Foods high in protein digest slowly emptying from the stomach at 4 calories per minutes. Of all of the carbs, simple sugars offer the least fullness emptying from the stomach at 10 calories per minute. Less processed carbs such as whole wheat, brown rice and other whole grain products are processed slower and less tendency to produce hunger. Foods high in fiber are also more satisfying because they too are processed more slowly. The third food group-fat is different than the other two. Fat produces satiety because of its slow stomach emptying time of just 2 calories a minute. The problem with fat is the high calories of the foods and the fact that it takes a longer period of time for the satiety signal to reach the brain.

Foods High in Protein Produce Fullness Proteins are responsible for a long list and wide variety of essential functions in the body including the growth and maintenance of muscle, bones, cartilage, hair, skin, and nails. Proteins are also needed to make certain enzymes, hormones, and blood elements. The benefit of dietary protein is that it increases the feeling of fullness (satiety) when compared to equal amounts of carbohydrates and fats. The result is that one eats less calories from protein. More about the roles and need for proteins in the appendix. .Foods with Less than 10 Grams of Sugar Do Not Increase Hunger, Foods with Sugar More than 10 Grams Produce Hunger Sugars are rapidly absorbed by the stomach, turn into fat, and produce hunger. Avoid foods and beverages with more than 10 grams of sugar per portion. Most fruits, vegetables, and many whole-grain bread products, cereals, and even pasta can reduce hunger. The sugars in these foods are surrounded or encased in fibers that dissolve slowly in the stomach, resulting in a much slower release of sugar into the bloodstream. When sugar is released slowly–over hours instead of in seconds–the body is able to utilize the sugar for metabolism and activities. Foods High in Fiber Promote Satiety

A high-fiber food has 5 grams or more of fiber per serving and a good source of fiber is one that provides 2.5 to 4.9 grams per serving.

Fibers, the parts of plants that our bodies cannot digest, will promote fullness and feelings of satisfaction. The suggested fiber intake is 25 grams per day for adults. Some researchers suggest that increasing fiber actually absorbs calories from our foods. Children and teens need fiber just as much as adults. Foods with fiber are beneficial because they’re filling and, therefore, discourage overeating — even though fiber itself adds no calories. The natural tendency is for children to like sweet, salty and sugary foods and avoid eating fiber rich fresh fruits and vegetables. Fiber, the indigestible portion of plant food is not found in dairy or meat. Fiber comes in two forms soluble and insoluble –both important and with different functions. Soluble fiber slows down the absorption of sugar from the stomach so that there are fewer spikes in sugar and insulin. This reduces hunger and episodes of low blood sugar. Soluble fiber also helps to remove cholesterol and fats in the blood. Insoluble fiber is important for maintaining bowel regularity and preventing constipation. It also gives children a sense of fullness that may help with overeating. Insoluble fiber is found in whole grain breads, nuts and seeds. Corn, popcorn and pasta are good sources of insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber is found in fruits and vegetables, especially citrus fruits, apples, apricots, oats, barley, and dried beans.

Foods appropriate for the HCG plan include most fruits, all vegetablesexcept corn, peas and carrots and all protein. The revised HCG dietpromotes fullness making weight loss easy.

Richard L. Lipman M.D., a board certified internist and endocrinologist has been treating weight and metabolic problems for 25 years in his Miami office. You can see his HCG plan helped thousands of his patients lose amazing amounts of weight in his recent book, New Pounds & Inches

Short Term Memory : Using Memory to Improve Grades in School

Article by Andre Thunestvedt

Just how huge is memory function in our lives? It’s more than those everyday memory challenges, like remembering your license plate number when you’re getting your tire changed. It’s more than remembering the right date for basketball tryouts. And it’s even way more than remembering your girlfriend’s telephone number.

It’s your grade point average, your GPA. The reason memory function is huge is the way it effects your grades in school. Why? Both long term and short term memory skills play into academic success. Knowing how they work will help you store information and recall it when you need it. That adds up to study methods that boost your grades.

Those grades will pave your way through life…whether it’s a smooth road or a bumpy one. Are you planning to go to college? Your GPA will determine if you get there, and what school you can enter. After college, you no doubt plan on getting a good job. Once again, your grades will determine if you make the first cut.

School grades are critical from high school to college levels. If you want to improve your grades, consider ways to improve your memory skills.

Grades and Memory: The Critical Link

Do you wonder just how improving your memory skills will create a dramatic improvement in your grades? Think about how your teacher or professor determines your grades. Yes, it’s those darn pop quizzes, examinations, and essays. All three call on your ability to dredge up memories—memories of facts, lists, dates, formulae, and names. Even your answer to an essay question is more impressive when you can sprinkle in remembered facts. And definitely those quizzes and exams ask that you recall stored information, on demand.

Storing and recalling information is what the memory is all about. So just how do you go about memorizing information?

Maybe you’re the type who holes up in the bedroom and starts reading and underlining your notes until you doze off. Or perhaps you just read the information over and over again in the hopes that your stressed-out brain will absorb it. Either way, you probably don’t consider using memory techniques. You just do the same old thing even if it doesn’t work well for you.

The sad thing is that you work very hard when you study but these methods often work against effective memory function, instead of with it. That list of 19th century American History dates just flies out the window when you sit down for the exam.

Fortunately, there are proven ways to work with your memory instead of against it. Without much trouble, you can discover some of these learning skills to improve your memory. So why not give it a try?

Using Brainwaves to Increase Brain Power : Brain Power

Why Brainwave Activity is Important and How it Shapes Our Daily Lives

Virtually every activity we engage in throughout our daily lives has a unique brainwave pattern. Science has increased our understanding of how brainwaves influence our lives and how they help us increase brain power. In fact, through science we have discovered that we have the power not only to decide which state we want to be in, but also to effectively move into such a state. As such, understanding how brainwaves increase brain power can help us create greater results and more life fulfillment.

With that goal in mind, let’s look at what brainwaves are, how they impact our lives and how they increase brain power.

How Brainwaves Help to Increase Brain Power

Fluctuations of electrical energy in the brain emerge as distinct brainwave patterns. As neurons fire on and off, and as electrical impulses travel from neuron to neuron, rhythmic patterns become apparent. These rhythmic patterns can increase brain power when they are synchronized with one another, effectively amplifying communication within the brain. Imagine, if you will, one drummer playing by herself. Now imagine one thousand drummers all playing in unison. Get the idea? This is a perfect illustration of how synchronized brainwaves can increase brain power.

Because the rhythms of the brainwave spectrum range from the very slow to the very fast, each brain rhythm helps to increase brain power in unique ways, depending on the task at hand. These rhythmic patterns are typically measured in hertz, or the number of electrical oscillation-cycles per second. Depending on the task at hand, it may be necessary to either increase or decrease the brain’s electrical oscillations in order to increase brain power and facilitate optimal performance. Furthermore, regardless of whether such rhythms are sped up or slowed down, some degree of synchronization of such rhythms across fairly large areas of the brain is almost always necessary to increase brain power.

How Specific Brainwave Patterns Increase Brain Power

Cognitive neuroscience distinguishes between five basic categories of brainwave patterns, all of which can help increase brain power: gamma, beta, alpha, theta and delta.

* Gamma – 40 Hz – 99 Hz – Gamma can increase brain power by supporting higher levels of brain organization, which together facilitate a kind of binding action. Schizophrenic patients exhibit a noticeable lack of gamma-band activity. This brain rhythm, a vital component needed in any effort to increase brain power, supports an above-average integration of sensory information, enhanced self-awareness and clarity of mind. The fact that it is completely suppressed when anesthetic is administered supports the widespread neuroscientific belief that gamma activity deeply influences waking consciousness and perception. Its prominence in highly developed practitioners of Tibetan Buddhist compassion meditation clearly demonstrates its capacity to positively increase brain power.

* Beta – 13 Hz – 39 Hz – Beta activity is prominent in sensorimotor awareness when we are wide awake, alert and focused. In terms of what it means to increase brain power, beta enables us to rapidly analyze and assimilate new information. However, it cannot be sustained indefinitely. In fact, prolongation of beta can actually frustrate the effort to increase brain power because it leads to exhaustion, anxiety and tension. Short bursts of beta have been used for improving cognitive intelligence.

* Alpha – 8 Hz – 12 Hz – Alpha has been associated with accelerated learning, relaxed alertness, Zen meditation and the release of the mood-stabilizing neurotransmitter serotonin, making it a powerful ingredient to increase brain power. It is also the first stage in the sleep cycle, the initial onset of drowsiness.

* Theta – 4 Hz – 7.5 Hz – Theta is correlated with the hypnogogic state, dreaming sleep, enhanced creativity, vivid imagery and deep meditation. In addition, its deep involvement in long-term memory makes it essential to increase brain power.

* Delta -.5 Hz – 3.5 Hz – Delta emerges in deep dreamless sleep, when the body is most profoundly immersed in its healing and recuperative capacities. Its ability to increase brain power is also evidenced in its association with human empathy and extraordinarily deep meditation.

Dr. Jeffrey Thompson used modified electroencephalogram equipment to categorize three additional brainwave patterns. Though they aren’t generally recognized by cognitive neuroscience, they serve as a great window through which to see the higher reaches of what it means to increase brain power.

* Lambda – 200+ Hz – Lambda, a power-house fuel to increase brain power, may be involved in a phenomenon wherein certain Tibetan monks are able to walk barely clothed for days in the freezing, high-altitude Himalayas. They are difficult to measure, and are believed to be carried on the very slow moving epsilon waves, another powerful factor to increase brain power.

* Hyper-Gamma – 100 Hz – 199 Hz – An important element found to significantly increase brain power, hyper-gamma activity is very rare and correlated with ecstatic states of consciousness, exceptional integration of sensory information, deep feelings of love and joy, exceptional focus, and overcoming barriers to personal development.

* Epsilon (Sub-Delta) –

Using A Memory Exercise For Cognitive Impairment

Using a memory exercise can help you to strengthen your cognitive abilities. Losing these abilities is something that many people experience during later life. This is something that can cause people to lose their independence. Using tools that strengthen cognition can help you much later in life.

Many people remember a memory exercise from school. Most people do not participate in this type of exercise outside of school years. There are some major benefits that can be gained from a memory training and this can help you to prepare for the future and ensure that your memory stays better intact later in life.

Older age is a common time for the memory to start slipping. This is very common in older life and many people at this stage do not participate in anything that would help preserve memory. When a doctor begins to notice memory impairment, then treatment and exercises can be recommended. You can help to prevent these problems by always nurturing your memory with the right exercises.

There are other circumstances that can also affect memory that people can experience. A brain injury is something that can affect memory. This is something that can be difficult to deal with as memory is there one day and after the injury it is impaired compared to an older person who deals with this gradually. Rehabilitation for a brain injury often includes exercises for memory and this is part of the process of regaining cognitive ability after a brain injury.

There are even exercises for memory for children and toddlers.

This helps to set a great foundation and this can help a child perform better in school. Many parents use these exercises each day and many children are benefiting from this type of fun conditioning.

Someone that is born with a cognitive impairment can also improve memory. This is something that can be done at home or outside of the home by a professional. There are often exercises that are not too challenging, but very stimulating that can be a great idea for anyone suffering with a mild cognitive impairment.

A memory exercise is something that can be used for a variety of reasons. The right exercise can improve cognition and help someone live a much fuller life. Children and adults can benefit from this and even if you do not have any challenges in your life, improving your memory can improve your daily existence.
