Brain Power : Brain Power – 7 Ways to Increase the Power of Your Brain

Unless you fit in the Einstein category, chances are that you would like to increase the power of your brain.

There are various ways to do this – some natural, others involving the use of food supplements.

Regular Exercise –
Start by exercising regularly. This doesn’t have to be a full workout at the gym. It can be as simple as walking more often. Exercise releases chemicals into your brain called endorphins. These are our body’s way of feeling happier and these chemicals will have a positive impact on your brain.

Supplement Your Diet –
Natural supplements like Ginko Biloba have also been shown to have positive effects on brain power. You can get them online from places like Amazon or from your local health food store.

Exercise Your Brain –
Another way to increase the power of your brain is to use it more! A few minutes “brain exercise” a day will help – anything from doing Sudoku or a crossword, reading a book, etc. Anything that stretches your brain is useful!

Brain Power Games –
Many of the games consoles nowadays have games that are aimed at increasing your brain power. These are often labeled Brain Training, so if you have access to a games console they are a good way to increase your brain power. There are also computer based equivalents if you don’t have a console.

Take Up a Hobby –
Most hobbies have some kind of learning involved. Whether it’s the best way to make a fly for your fishing or how to use the tools for wood turning or whatever, you’ll almost certainly have to learn new things. These will help you to expand the power of your brain as it starts to use parts that haven’t been used for longer than you’d care to remember.

Get Plenty of Sleep –
Sleep is the time that our body uses to rebuild and repair itself. Making sure that you get enough sleep will give your body the energy that you need during the day. Taking a 10 minute “power nap” once or twice during the day is also a habit well worth learning. You’ll wake from the power nap refreshed and raring to go again.

Learn To Relax –
Our modern lives tend to be more stressful than those of our ancestors. Whilst we’re not necessarily working physically harder, our brains are definitely working harder than those of our ancestors a few hundred years ago. We’re subjected to a barrage of advertisements and other external “data” that our brain has to process in case there’s a threat (that’s our ancient survival programming coming into play). Take up some kind of relaxing hobby whether it’s regular exercise, meditation or another form or relaxation. Your brain will appreciate the break and will work harder for you when you need it to.

You can also use the power of affirmations to boost your brain power.

Brain Power – Teaming Left And Right Brain Halves

There are very few things in nature that are exactly alike, and that goes for so-called identical twins too. Every mountain is different, and no two sunsets are the same. This applies to the two halves of our brain too like life partners they have different skills that with practice can develop into complementary roles.

The left brain is analytical in nature, and follows logical, sequential thought patterns. Its strengths lie in its power of rational and analytical thinking that it bases on objectively proven facts. Sometimes though, the left brain gets lost in detail though, and loses touch with the greater reality around the subject.

The right brain seeks out the bigger picture although this may be at the cost of the detail. Its strengths lie in its powers of intuition and its ability to create new ideas. Sometimes though, the right brain immerses itself in the big picture that it is building, to the extent that it produces ideas that are too far-fetched and impractical in the real world.

Most people have a worldview that favors either left brain analytical or right brain holistic thinking styles. There is no right or wrong here, although the educational systems tend to focus on left brain education because this is where facts are stored. Schools tend as a result to produce people more focused on logical thinking, accuracy and analysis, than moments of feeling, aesthetics and creativity. This is why so many people in our society just follow rules while so few ever fly like birds in a creative sky.

As business owners and managers, we need to understand where each of us sits on the left brain right brain continuum, and how this affects our capacity to manage and grow our businesses. Obviously, we need our analytical sides to help us through the routine of everyday life. At the same time though, we need our intuitive selves when we go looking for new ideas, because new ideas are by definition not part of established fact. The bottom line here is that a left or right brain develops to the extent that it is exercised and stimulated.

The clue to combining the left and right parts of our brain in business is very simple, although the application of this can be a challenge for most. Left brain thinkers need to learn to look beyond the facts, and relate to staff and colleagues holistically, as opposed to in terms of the present moment. Right brain thinkers must learn to focus on the detail and not just the excitement of generating new business ideas. The result will be a better-balanced business owner, better personal productivity and better results for the business.

A good Business Coach helps a client to achieve these vital things by being an impartial observer of their clients approach to business. It is very easy to give up on change and go back to where you were. If you are ready to make a quantum shift and team the left and right hand parts of your brain, make contact with a good business coach right away and find out how they can assist.

Brain Power : To Increase Brain Power

Strategies to increase brain power are the strategies that make it possible for the brain to do more of what it already does. Whether we want a higher IQ, some kind of acclaim in our career, fame and fortune, better investment insights, we need to make it possible for the neurons in our brain to connect more frequently and effectively with neighboring neurons, and for signals or communications between neurons to be passed and read clearly.

That is all neurons do folks, is connect and communicate. Everything that happens in our lives, each thought, movement, emotion is the result of neurons connecting and talking. So strategies to increase brain power are going to be the same strategies I use to take care of my brain’s fitness, that connecting and communicating power.

If you look around you these days, there is a great deal of information being tossed around about two capacities of the human brain which were unknown not too many years ago, neurogenesis, or your brains ability to generate new neurons daily, and neuroplasticity, your brains ability to rewire itself based on what you are paying attention to. Neuroplasticity can happen in moments, as the brain is incredibly adaptable.

Most of what I can do to increase brain power involves life style choices in several areas, physical exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, and novel learning experiences, including using computerized brain fitness programs. As I maximize my efforts in these areas, my brain then responds quicker with greater clarity of thought and insight. Not omniscience or omnipotence though.

Physical Exercise to Increase Brain Power

All the research that I read says the most important strategy to increase brain power is physical exercise, which might bring to mind having to hoist heavy barbells off the ground, at the local gym, in the company of muscular men and women who will look askance at my puny efforts.

Please get rid of that image. The physical exercise that is required by the brain can be simply an increase in physical activity, or doing more of what your are already doing, according to Simon Evans,Ph.D. and Paul Burghardt,Ph.D., co-authors of Brainfit for Life, which is a very interesting compilation of current research brain fitness tips.

Evans and Burghardt say do more of what you already do to begin, walk a bit more, for example, and work up to an exercise regime if you want to. Increased blood flow appears to be what your brain requires to increase neurogenesis and neuroplasticity. In fact, you can engage in exercise at home, in your basement, which can be just excellent for your brains fitness.

One model that I use involves HIIT or high intensity interval training, which I hope doesn’t scare you, because it is very adoptable to your level of fitness and the level of intensity that you want to use, or can use, and you can build intensity at your rate, all the while increasing your brain power.

Nutrition to Increase Brain Power

Your brain weighs in a 2% of your body weight but uses 20% of your bodies fuel, and it requires a flow of high octane fuel, as it cannot store its own. That fuel requirement must be filled with what your brain needs, and you will not find that in processed foods. To increase brain power through nutrition means to increase antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, phytochemicals, glyconutrients, fiber, etc. by eating fruits and vegetables that are vine ripened and locally grown, each and every day.

That may be a shock to your system at first, because it may want to continue its ingestion of high fructose corn syrup and msg which are in so many processed foods, but if you want to increase your brain power, you will give those up. One of the key ingredients for increased brain power is omega 3 fatty acid, because neurons are composed mostly of omega 3 fatty acid. Without replacement omega 3, neurons get brittle, and do not receive or pass communications as effectively, which garbles communication and brain power.

Omega 3 fatty acids are essential which means our body must get them from your diet, as it cannot manufacture them. The best source is fish, but the risk with fish is mercury poisoning. You may consider a supplement for your omega 3, and make sure that the supplement is processed to remove mercury.

Novel Learning Experiences to Increase Brain Power

Another pillar of brain power is novel learning experiences. My brain is actually seeking now learning. Most of the experts in this field report that the learning which best challenges the brain is learning a new language, a new musical instrument, or starting a new career.

And there is some very interesting brain power developments resulting from the use of computerized brain fitness programs, like the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program, the Mind Sparke Brain Fitness Pro, the Lumosity Program, and the folks who created Happy Neurons. Love that name. The Posit Science program has just been evaluated in a research project called the IMPACT study, published in April of 2009.

I first came across the Posit Science company and mention of Michael Merzenich, Ph.D. in a book called The Brain That Changes Itself, by Norman Doidge,MD, and was instantly intrigued by Professor Merzenich’s ideas. So I bought the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program and I am very satisfied with its ability to help my 61 year old brain recall words, and I think it is part of what I will continue to do for my brain as I age, along with the workouts, proper nutrition, good sleep, stress management, and computerized brain fitness.

I am not going to learn a new language, or an instrument. I may recareer, but for my time, computerized brain fitness programs will be the way to keeping neuroplasticity and neurogenesis going. The programs I have listed here offer increasing levels of challenge which is a vital part of the feedback our brains need. The Mind Sparke program is an excellent tool for increased IQ. It has been measured in research published a really long time ago, in 2008. And the Lumosity program is very easy to use, available on demand, right at your computer, to use when you need a brain brightening break. I use it between clients and phone calls as a way to refresh the acetylcholine levels in my brain, like a nap helps me consolidate memories.

Sleeping to Increase Brain Power

According to Evans and Burghardt the events that happen to us during our sleep are vitally important to brain power. If we cut short our sleep time, which is unique to each person, we limit our brains ability to cycle through certain hormonal events and memory consolidation efforts. Making a habit of not allowing the brain to complete those tasks means diminished rather than increased brain power. I know quick naps during the day are very refreshing for me also.

Stress Management to Increase Brain Power

So another of the keys to increased brain power is relaxation? Sounds counter intuitive doesn’t it, when all around us we are seeing people create and sustain stress chemistry in their body to increase income and production. However, stress hormones actually stop neurogenesis just as effectively as ethyl alcohol does, so it is very important that we manage the stress chemistry we have and only use it when we are actually under attack, when we need to move effectively in order to save our lives.

If I am surprised by a gas bill that is higher than expected, then I need to begin to relax as quickly as I can, and for guys, it can take 20 minutes to actually clear the stress hormones from my brain and the rest of my body. Deep breathing is a very effective tool, belly breathing like a baby does before we train them out of it, is a cheap and powerful antidote. In fact, regular deep breathing and focus on relaxation helps me keep my body filled up the DHEA, the antiaging hormone, which is a good thing for a 61 year old late life parent.

I remember reading about research done with the Navy’s Top Gun pilots that indicated the most effective pilots going through that training were the pilots who were able to change their brain waves from beta brain waves, or focused external awareness to alpha waves, or relaxed external awareness and back again frequently. In other words they did brief periods of brain work and then relaxed briefly also. HearthMath is a wonderful tool to facilitate that kind of brain activity.

Michael S. Logan is a brain fitness expert, a counselor, a student of Chi Gong, and licensed one on one HeartMath provider. I enjoy the spiritual, the mythological, and psychological, and I am a late life father to Shane, 10, and Hannah Marie, 4, whose brains are so amazing. http://www.askmikethecounselor2.comhttp://www.askmikethecounselor2.com

Using Brain Power Through Self Hypnosis Techniques : Brain Power

Article by Karen Winton

When someone speaks about hypnosis, a lot of people tend to imagine magicians, or psychiatrists. Though it may be true that the usual persons who rely on using brain power to achieve something are magicians and psychiatrists, you should become aware that there is a type of hypnosis that can be done by you, your friend, your loved one, in other words, ordinary individuals: self hypnosis.

There are many self hypnosis techniques that you can learn about. In learning self hypnotism, though, remember that using brain power may be the top requirement for your activity to be successful. There are several pros offered by hypnotizing oneself, however, the best advantage may be your chance of totally controlling your own brain. Through self hypnotism, you no longer need to be afraid of other people controlling your decisions.

The following are common self hypnosis techniques that are more often than not effective:

1. Decide first why you have to hypnotize yourself.

A very important hypnosis how to: think about your purpose. Ask yourself first what it is that you want to accomplish, or what it is that you want to discover. Learn to make a firm decision of what your goal is and stick to that same goal once you are in session.

You also have to make sure that your goal is stated in a positive way. For example: ‘I am excited about snorkeling and look forward to seeing the beauty of the ocean floor,’ is the right goal and not: ‘I am nervous about doing some snorkeling, but I want to see the beauty of the ocean floor so I have to do it’. Notice how the first statement used all positive words, while the next statement was written with negative words used.

2. Look into the details of your goal.

After you have formulated your goal, one of the best self hypnosis techniques is to write down all the reasons why you want that goal achieved as well as your expected results once you’ve reached that specific goal.

Remember that learning to hypnotize oneself is just like using brain power, so it is important to list down stuff and commit them to memory. In this way, you give more strength to your subconscious mind, which, believe it or not, is very powerful.

It is also best to read to yourself what you have written and repeat those statements for a few times to boost your brain power. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, you can write statements like: ‘I will run daily so I can have a sexier body,’ then read those statements over and over to yourself.

3. Hold your hypnosis session in a quiet location free from distractions.

Another excellent hypnosis how to: perform hypnosis in a place where you are sure you won’t be disturbed. Among the best self hypnosis techniques is making certain that you won’t be disturbed once you start self hypnotism. Turn off your mobile phone, lock your door, and put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on your door. Learning self hypnotism means being able to have good focus and being able to be in a relaxed state for hypnotism to work.

It is not very difficult to learn hypnotism on yourself. By applying the self hypnosis techniques discussed above and by doing more research about using brain power the right way, you can find yourself successfully accomplishing self hypnosis.

Karen Winton finds self hypnosis appealing. Want to get rid of all bad memories? Reformatting Your Unconscious Mind will do the trick. To have a more positive outlook, try: Better Living With Hypnosis.

Six Great Steps to Better Brain Power : Brain Power

Article by Dion Daly

The following seven steps will help you in your mission to keep your brain working as perfectly as possible. Try to implement all of the following tips into your life.

1. Do a regular exercise routine some simple exercises like a short walk or jog. This will help to keep the body physically fit and energetic. What these easy work-outs do is to activate the release of neurochemicals that are known as endorphins. These chemicals are what makes us feel happy, and by feeling happier, a more constructive effect on the brain can be seen.

2. Take natural supplements these are thought to have a positive effect on the brain. These supplements not only keep your body healthier, they also uphold the fitness of your brain; thus producing better brain power! You can buy these supplement almost anywhere, such as the supermarket or from your local health and food shop.

3. If you do physical exercises, you need to do mental ones as well. Use your brain muscles as often as possible – think and learn. You may read, look at educational programmes, talk with other people or even play educational games. Do any thing that you think will increase brain activity.

4. Take up an educational hobby the kind that will give you some new learning at the end of the pursuit. Just make sure to pick a hobby that is not repetitive. Your hobby should be something that will assist you to learn something new every time you do it.

5. Sleeping is the time when the body recharges and rebuilds itself, so make sure you have at least six to eight hours a night. You should also try to take a ten-minute power nap during the day to help boost your brain power. Remember never deny yourself sleep you will soon realize that your brain functions better with the right amount of sleep.

6. Because of the complexities of the modern world, the brain gets worn out just as much as the body. Thus, you should take the time to relax and cleanse the mind of the fears and stresses that might overwhelm it. You may want to try to go to your local spa for a massage or take a meditation class to give your mind a break from all the things that get on your nerves. Good Luck!

Power your Brain Today

How much is the agility and power of your mind worth to you? Regardless of how much you might have said, the monetary value should not be more than zero. What you have to invest is time. There are plenty of exercises that you can implement on a daily basis and acquiring that information is easy and free. Of course there are a number of good (e)books out there that will provide more in depth knowledge of how to properly power your brain. Here are a couple of ideas to get you started.

We have two brain halves, use them: Each of our brain halves is designated to dealing with different functions depending on their nature. All those that require logical analysis, problem solving and objective reasoning are take on by the logical side. Meanwhile, the things in our lives that depend on creativity, self expression and improvisation are dealt with by our creative brain half.

If you are like the vast majority of the population, you will be having to attend problems that have to be solved logically and objectively more frequently than encounter activities where the creativity in you is challenged to provide a result. However, musicians, artists and other performers (not exclusively) will deal more with improvisation and rely more on what feels more right in their day to day. What will give a boost to how well our brain performs is to work at the less developed side in an attempt to equal them out.

As a logical focused person, have a go at activities that make you have to improvise or make things up, falling back on inspiration. Learn a skill that requires you to use your senses like music, art, etc.

On the other hand, if you do nothing but be creative all day expressing yourself through your work, be it as a performer or other artist, making the effort of working at solving problems in a calculating manner will help you develop the logical centre of your brain.

Playing games such as chess or solving puzzles is a great start.

Don’t settle for easy: There are always a number of options or possible solutions to a problem. We usually try to find the one that requires the least effort and is the most efficient. What is also nearly always a factor is simplicity. The easier the solution is to get to, the more likely we are to accept it and move on. This however is like going to the gym and working out with weights that are a few kilos lighter than your limit. Hence you are not challenging yourself. Go through the trouble of giving your imagination some leeway from time to time and try and find an alternative solution to the easy one we took no time to determine.

Experience new things: Monotony is hardly going to change anything. Our brain is not likely to feel the need to work the senses that receive information on the outside world if the environment stays the same On the other hand, if we were to constantly present the brain with new experiences to take in and analyse for future reference, it will see itself forced to fall back on that information in the future when the next new thing comes.

Boost your brain power, boost your potential : Brain Power

Article by Greg Frost

You can control your brain and make it a much more efficient and engineered machine for success. What this means is that there is technology available for the average consumer that helps you to boost your brain power and this is based on something on brainwave entrainment technology. The reason this article chooses this technology to discuss, amongst the many available is that is the easiest to use, most readily available and the one that has the most effect.

When talking about brainwave entrainment, it is actually the technology which allows you to actually bend and mould the mind into a state of optimum performance and the truth is, we are always operating on the opposite side of the coin. We are built in such a way that our brain is currently performing at levels way below our possibles, and do not worry, this is something that afflicts not only you, but almost 90 percent of the world today.

There are many reasons for this and while this article will not try to get into all of them, it is the anthropology, the society and the culture of the global economy in a sense that has led to this dampening of the mind. As more and more gets readily available and easier to access, the power of the mind to investigate and discover, to learn and grow and to evolve into its optimum state will then be hardily reduced and we are left with something that isn

Ways to Improve Brain Power : Brain Power

Article by Ewin Chia

To improve brain power, we must have a general understanding of how our brains work. Our brains are built for novelty. Learning new skills and information is actually fun for our brains. But once the novelty of a certain stimulus becomes familiar, we tend to become bored and treat we begin to treat that a certain stimulus as a routine. This can be explained by a learning pattern that we humans learned long ago through habituation. For our complex minds, once a certain activity becomes a regiment, it simply isn’t fun anymore.

When learning new tasks, our brain rewards us for a job well done by releasing endorphins. The release of these chemicals gives us a sense of well being. Simply put, endorphins are the chemicals that our brains produce to make us happy. Endorphins are released when we are exercising. This means that taking up a new sport will not only be good for you physically, it is also good for you mentally. For us to improve brain power, our minds have to be clear so that we are able to process information better, and endorphins bring about this clarity by relaxing us. Games and sports serve not only as a stimulus for the body, but for the mind as well, because most of these activities require strategy and thinking.

As with most of our bodily functions, if we fail to utilize it, they deteriorate and go into atrophy. Same goes with our minds. If you don’t use it, you lose it. One such sport that requires a great deal from both mind and body is surfing. It not only tones your body and strengthens your muscles it forces you to react to the right things at the right time. If you fail to do so, crashing into the water will help you remember. But the thrill of riding a wave releases loads of endorphins, which makes the hundreds of hours of effort physically and mentally, all worthwhile. If being a sporty person doesn’t fit your personality, there’s no need to worry. By simply doing an activity that requires your intellect, you are already giving your brain a workout. Basically all activities affect your brain, one way or another. It is important to know which ones are beneficial, and which ones are not. Solving puzzles and reading books are some of the things that involve our brains actively. It is important for our brains to be continually challenged, otherwise we start to become dull-witted, passive thinkers.

An example of a passive activity is watching television. Although watching TV will not decrease your intellectual capacity, the things that we learn from it come in the form of information bombardment. You only retain certain types of information when watching TV. Presently, most television programs are for entertainment purposes only. You’ll still learn something, but waste a great deal of time in the process. To improve brain power, is much like the same for almost any other skill. We need lots of time and effort in order for us to become better at it.

Leveraging Upon Brain Power to Achieve Your Goals : Brain Power

Article by Gregory Frost

The cliche that the brain is the most powerful object in the human body is not an understatement. If you ever thought the heart was, you are mistaken. Depression can drive someone to death. A bright outlook has been known to speed up recovery and generate miraculous cures. A mother filled with fear and anxiety for the safety of her child can suddenly gain immense strength. Brain power. It is like no other. It can drive you to success or plunge you to a gully from an endless cliff.

For years, the military all over the world has been investing in something called mind regression and mental training through the use of conditioning, harsh training, psychology and utilising the subconscious through image reproduction and sound – all in a bid to create the toughest soldiers who are fearless. The mind is a soldier’s greatest equipment in the field – and it can save his life, better than any weapon, armour or gadgetry. It helps them to achieve their goals and meet their objectives.

You too can leverage on your brain power to achieve your goals in life. The secret is to condition your subconscious mind to (which represents more than three quarters of our brain power) in such a way that drive, ambition, joy are produced in healthy amounts every day, every hour, every minute. It is the intangibles of life that make us succeed and the road to material gain is built on the immaterial; our feelings and our emotions – the spiritual building blocks of our lives, as well as the architects of our own fate and destiny.

Old habits die hard and they live with impunity within our subconscious. Once they get entrenched, it is very hard to remove them. Only through a willful penetration through our conscious block and into the core of our brain’s subconscious can we truly turn our lives around. We don’t have to enlist in military training to do that or find a swami in the hillside villages of India to learn the secrets of meditation. Technology is within reach and more and more methods are being produced to help you retune your subconscious. From magnetic wavelengths, hypnotism, deep brain stimulation apparatus and even the power of frequency stimulation (Binaural beats), the ways and means to tap into the power of meditation is mind boggling.

Science has decided to play the penny with what was once wholly the arena of religion and mystery. But in fact, scientists and medical professionals all over the world have been working together to unlock the secrets of the brain and find ways for us humans to unchain the gift given by the life itself, a gift that continually to hold out on us.

A small aspect of it has been revealed. Through everything you know, what the world of products has offered you, this can truly say that it is potentially life changing. Give yourself the opportunity of a lifetime, live the life you always wanted and remove that prism of negativity from your vision now.

5 Ways to Amp Up Your Brain Power : Brain Power

Article by Gregory Frost

The first way that you are going to amp up your own brain power is to actually try and see whether or not you can reduce the stress in your life, and if you are in a high stress job or in a high stress situation, you need to be able to control your own breathing or stress levels, and there are certain exercises that you can use to do this of course. They can range from things like yoga, to stretching to even breathing techniques that you can master to actually help you to relax and remove the stress from your life.

The next thing you can do is to gain some perspective in your life and make sure that you are doing brain healthy things throughout the day. One thing that you need to know is that the more you use your brain and extend it on a daily basis, the more exercise that it gets and this is what you really need to do to be able to make it more powerful. This of course, uses the same analogy as the muscle exercise, the more you use a muscle, the more you would be able to see its own development and growth and the more results that you are going to be able to get.

The third thing that you need to be able to do is to actually try and get some brain food in you and some high levels of vitamisation is very important when it comes to ensuring that your brain has enough nutrients in it. There are some basic brain foods and this can include things like amino acids and the protein family, vitamins B and complexes all across the board, and if you need more information on this, you can look it up on the internet.

The other thing you can do is to actually try and read more. They say that reading is the best way to ensure that you are constantly testing your brain, and this can actually amp up your brain power. This is quite different from doing mental exercises in the sense that what you need to do may include things like just sitting down and reading for a short while, and this is what you really need to inculcate into your whole concept. Read as much as you can and try and depend less on the television for information.

The last thing that you can do is to take advantage of existing technology like the whole concept of the subliminal software and the brainwave entrainment technology, that has penetrated the consumer market and has made it much easier for people to actually get their hands on some really revolutionary technology on the market, and from there, actually make something of themselves. If you need to know more information on how this technology can actually help you to increase and boost your own brain power, what is going to happen is that you will find plenty of useful things on the net.

Tips on How to Boost Your Brain Power

Do you find yourself becoming forgetful lately? Have you been finding it hard to figure out solutions to problems at work or at home that you could have instantly solved a few years ago? Are you having difficulties learning new things or recalling the names of new people you have just met? If so, it is time to start doing some things that can help you improve all the different aspects of your mental capabilities.

Increasing your brain power is not as difficult as most people perceive it to be. In fact, your brain can hold incredible amounts of knowledge and information that is limited only by your curiosity and thirst for learning. In other words, the more you use your brain, the more it will be capable of solving problems, analyzing data, and storing new information that you come upon.

One of the best ways to maintain the sharpness of your brain is to keep finding solutions to problems regularly. Every time you try to solve a problem, you are making use of various mental skills: observational, analytic, memory, and so on. The more problems you solve and the more often you do it, regardless of how mundane they seem to be, the more you are able to increase your mental functions. Eventually, you will be able to impress your friends and yourself with how well and how quick you are able to find solutions to even the more complicated problems.

To further improve your problem-solving skills, you can try to discover new strategies and techniques instead of just relying on your own capabilities. You can easily do this by reading or engaging in intellectual discussions with your peers. But more importantly, you need to have an open mind and be able to welcome new ideas and methods in order to boost your problem-solving skills accordingly.

A very important thing to keep in mind in your quest to boost your brain power is that while it is very easy to improve your mental skills, the mind can just as easily stagnate if you do not use it enough. It can also weaken when you do not give it the necessary nutrients, both physically and figuratively. In this regard, it is essential that you stay in good physical, emotional, and social health if you want your mental skills to reach their full potential.

Of course, reading and studying help a lot but you should be able to relax and enjoy yourself with good company from time to time as well. After all, even the most hard-working brain needs to get its share of rest too. This brings us to the importance of having adequate hours of sleep each night. When you were a student, you were probably told it is better to sleep early the night before a big test instead of burning the midnight oil trying to cram for the exam. This is actually true because the mind does work much better when you are well-rested.

Finally, another little-known way to boost brain power is to get some exercise. By doing even light exercise routines daily, you will not be only doing your body a lot of good but you will also be raising your brain’s ability to function at a whole different level.
