Vitamins : Canadian Pharmacy Discovers Vitamin B12 Helps Depression and Even More

Article by Peterlewis

Depression can cause major problems in the lives of people but is often undiagnosed. Vitamin B, especially B12, is instrumental in creating the right balance of chemicals that stimulate neurotransmitters in the brain including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. People buy vitamin B12 from Canadian pharmacy to compensate deficiencies. Scientists have now found people on a high dose of vitamin B12 responded better to treatment of depression.Vitamin B12 Fighting Depression Backed By StudiesUnlike other water-soluble vitamins, vitamin B12 is not excreted totally in the urine and can be effectively stored in the kidney, liver, and other parts of the body in small quantities. It is vital in preserving the insulation sheath covering nerve cells. Under normal circumstances, people do not experience shortage of vitamin B12 unless their regular diet does not include the vitamin in any form. Excess sugar and alcohol intake does induce excess excretion in the urine. Results of a study conducted by Kuopio University Hospital in Finland were published in BMC Psychiatry supporting the view that higher vitamin intake does increase better response to antidepressants. A total of 115 outpatients were monitored over a period of six months. All these patients suffered from depression and were put on a lengthy course of antidepressants. Results at the end of six months indicated outpatients with higher quantities of vitamin B12 in their blood supply responded positively and completely to medication provided for treatment of depression. Though the study was incomplete as it did not take into consideration factors like smoking and consumption of alcohol, Canadian pharmacy note that results were significant, especially in cases where people did not respond positively to several antidepressants in the past.Another study published earlier in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition also found intake of vitamin B12 and vitamin B6 protected adults against depression. A total of 3,503 adults over the age of 65 years volunteered for the study. Results clearly indicated decreased depression incidents on follow-ups extending up to 12 years in cases where higher intake of vitamin B6 and B12 was initiated. In fact, a 2% reduction in depression incidents per year was observed for every 10 additional milligrams of vitamin B6 and B12 on a daily basis.Supplementing Vitamin B12 in Daily DietThe body actually requires around 2 µg of vitamin B12 but very little is actually stored in the body as it is water based. People found to have a deficiency therefore need to have supplements in excess quantity through their daily diet if they also suffer from depression.Meat eaters can replenish lost quantity of vitamin B by including lamb liver and kidney in their diet. A well-balanced diet is difficult to sustain as pure vegetarians are normally found to be deficient in vitamin B12, as vegetables and fruits are poor sources. It is much cheaper and quite safe to buy vitamin B12 supplements. A packet of 60 tablets effectively contains 1,000 µg, which can be bought cheaply from an accredited Canadian pharmacy on a regular basis. Now that effectiveness of vitamin B12 in treating depression is established, supplements can be safely had to improve overall health as well.

Photographic Memory : Recreate Your Special Moments Even With a Basic Digital Camera

Article by Don Penven (Brandywine)

Re-live your vacation the DIGITAL WAYKeep vacation memories vividly alive with digital photography. Today’s economy has many folks scrimping and saving up for a vacation holiday. All too often we wait to the last minute to think about recording those special moments to share with family and friends when the vacation is over.

“Now where is that camera,” you may ask? Probably tucked away in a drawer somewhere.

Digital photography has become the method of choice for recording special events. Think about how you did it just a few years ago. You bought a couple of rolls of film (you do remember film, don’t you?). You shoot away-but it seems that you never have enough film. Then, when the event is just a memory, you cart the film off to the processor for development and printing.

Today all that hassle is behind us. In fact, it’s a challenge just finding a place that sells film. Wit a digital camera, and a good-sized memory card, you can take a couple hundred shots with some to spare.

The next step is to download your treasure trove of images onto your computer’s hard drive, and then print out the ones you want, put some up for others to enjoy on Picassa or other free websites.

Many folks are content with “snapshot” quality-but some often wonder how professional photographers get such extraordinary photographs. It is possible to get professional-looking shots-even with a basic digital camera, It is a matter of technique:

1. Read through the camera’s owner’s manual and learn what all of those dials and buttons really do.

2. Candid (photojournalistic) shots tell a better story than posed, “firing squad” lineups.

3. Be aware of disrupting, distracting backgrounds when composing the shot. Pay attention to what is behind your subjects-like traffic signs, trash and litter, ugly-looking vehicles or peculiar buildings.

In other words, learn your camera and pay attention to what you are photographing.

Learning how to create photos that compliment your artistic talent is really not a big deal. But you may want to consider some formal guidance. I was recently made aware of a very comprehensive, step-by-step manual that virtually removes the obstacles standing between you and the creation of incredible photographic memories.
