What is Mental Photography?

Mental Photography is your brain’s natural ability to tap into your own photographic memory. It’s a capability that everyone possesses and enables us to take in books and other information at a phenomenal rate. This process even leaves speed readers in the dust. In fact this advanced learning technique allows a person to take in new information about 100 times faster than the average reading speed. Even people with Dyslexia, ADD or ADHD can quickly master learning new information at amazing speeds.

Not only does Mental Photography help your brain process information at a faster rate, but it also enables us to retain the memory for life. Most of the things we read are forgotten within the first 48 hours. This learning system uses different pathways in your brain to help you process facts quickly and easily. More importantly, your brain will not forget. Information goes straight in and stays in long-term memory. They say it’s as if you read a book 100 times.

The process also helps you to become a lateral thinker. This ability helps a persons brain to solve complex problems that would ordinarily boggle the mind. Your brain’s thinking capabilities will improve exponentially.

Using Mental Photography can fully enhance your use of the Law of Attraction. According to the people at Zox Training Systems, by using Mental Photography, “You are actually turbo charging the part of your brain that works with The Secret Law of Attraction…To put your powers of manifestation 100% into hyper-drive.” What an intriguing possibility that is, hyper-driven manifestation.

The only limitations any of us have are our own negative thoughts. Our brains are fully programmable. The problem is most of us have been programmed with limited, negative thinking. It is proven by years of research that a brain can be reprogrammed. It doesn’t matter how old you are. You can achieve anything if you only think you can. The human brain can be programmed to eliminate negative thought patterns. Without this negativity a person can begin to move toward his/her own unlimited being. The power of the Law of Attraction along with your own enhanced mental powers can be life changing.

Astronaut, Edgar Mitchell says this about the technique, “What better way to be of service to our fellow humans and to simultaneously create a better life for ourselves than to introduce everyone to the benefits of the Subliminal Dynamics/Brain Management process?”

Mental Photography can help to use that huge area of the brain that normally goes untapped. Imagine how that could alter your world.

Memory Fitness

Whether you call it a “senior moment” or a “mind glitch,” the truth is that as we get older our memory and thought processes are just not what they used to be. A friend of mind claims that for the past ten years she hasn’t remembered the name of any new person she met. Another describes those frequent moments when the word is right on the tip of your tongue but for the life of you it just won’t materialize. Still another says her memory has gotten so rusty lately that her kids take advantage of it, sometimes having her believing that she approved an expenditure, when she can’t even remember them asking about it!

Just as daily weight repetitions in the gym strengthen certain muscle groups, mental exercises strengthen and enhance memory and thought functions over time. The following are some exercises you can use to increase your memory fitness:

• Do crossword puzzles and brainteasers on a regular basis.
• Play games that use memory like chess, bridge, or Trivial Pursuit.
• Memorize your shopping list by visualizing your trip through the supermarket. See yourself stop at each aisle putting what you need in your cart. When you get to the store, use your memory to select the items. Bring a written list along to be sure you haven’t forgotten anything.
• Each time you come to the end of a chapter in a book you are reading, imagine yourself summarizing it as briefly as possible to someone who has not read it. Do the same for the whole book when you finish it.
• Link together items that you need to remember into story form. If you need to do errands that include going to the hardware store, the dry cleaners, and the post office, your story might be: You get grease on your clothes at the hardware store so you must go to the dry cleaners.

While at the dry cleaners you find an envelope in your pocket that needs to be mailed.
• When meeting someone for the first time, repeat her name as you are introduced. Ask a question about the spelling (is that Ann with an E at the end?) Find a distinctive feature about the person and picture it with the spelling of the person’s name. Associate the name with a song, a rhyme, or a celebrity (Example: if you meet someone named Marilyn, associate the person with Marilyn Monroe.)

Along with aging, memory loss is often the result of chronic stress. If you are going through a particularly stressful time in your life, you will most likely experience difficulty in remembering things. Try the following to help with the forgetfulness caused by stress:

• Put your keys in the same place in your purse and leave them in the same place when you enter your house.
• Try to park in the same place when using parking lots you frequent regularly.
• Keep a small notepad handy and write down things you know you need to remember.
• Purchase a small digital recorder or use the voice recording feature on your cell phone to record things that occur to you while away from home.
• Use timers to remind you of appointments and when you need to take medication.
• If you take more than one medicine a day, purchase a pill reminder box and use it so that you will not have to guess whether you’ve taken your medication or not.
• Slow down!

Sometimes memory loss is just a symptom of a too busy life but it also can alert us to a problem in the brain. Most of us have at one time or another worried that we had early Alzheimer’s Disease. If you are concerned whether your forgetfulness has an organic cause you may want to read Understanding Memory Loss, an online booklet by the National Institute on Aging that can help you figure out whether you should seek an evaluation. Put the title of the booklet in your search engine to find it.

When you cannot remember something, it often makes you feel anxious or stressed. Good self care for you may include improving your memory. Using memory exercises, finding stress reducing strategies that work for you, and educating yourself about what is normal and what is abnormal memory loss can help. Of course, you have to remember to do them!

If you are having difficulty remembering things, it may be due to stress, anxiety, or depression. Life is challenging and when we are challenged we forget things. Besides the exercises above, you may want to visit a qualified mental health professional for help.

High-school, college, and for some of us after college, we spend a great deal of the time of our lives in studying. Studying can either take the form of serious studying to pass institutional examinations, or it can also take the form of leisurely reading to increase the wealth of knowledge one stores in his psyche. Regardless of the purpose or form of studying that I discuss here, I stand for Effective Studying. Effective studying, according to my dictionary, is to be able to read blocks of educational texts, comprehend the information presented, analyze the information, develop your own hypothesis, and then finalize the learning process by writing it down. Of course, in many cases of academic reading, we don’t need to abide by the ostensibly complex learning process that I’ve mentioned here. In this article, I’ll focus on the very basics – which we often seem to forget! Here is the sequence of steps that I’ve followed all my life successfully:

* Critical reading: this refers to reading any block of text slowly and getting the bigger picture. Here, you ask meaningful questions about the information you’ve just read and then answer them all by yourself. If you can’t answer, just note it down and ask anyone who seems to be much more intelligent to you!

* Critical thinking: this goes hand in hand with critical reading. Instead of just reading through paragraphs and memorizing the group of words, it would be much more generative to actually grab the core meaning of the text.

* Critical listening: previous studies on education have proved that we memorize information easily if we actually hear the words. Our brains first store the information in our short-term memory. After continuous revising and writing, the information is transferred to our long-term memory. The reason why I call it Critical listening is because you only read aloud those sentences from the text given that give you a summary, or you read aloud some sentences that you have formed in your own mind while critically analyzing the information presented in the text.

* Writing and revising: writing is definitely a good habit! I once read in the Reader’s Digest about a highly-successful neurosurgeon whose mother worked as a maid in her community. Not knowing how to help her children grow up, she took her children to the nearest library and asked them to write down summary reports of each book they have read. This was the turning point in the life of the future surgeon, from being a mediocre student in an unknown family destined to die in poverty and humiliation, reading and writing gave him the inspiration to gather knowledge and gain a strong foothold to survive in society. Now, you should definitely remember that your learning process is not finished after writing down any summary. This is because when we write down anything, our brains automatically ignore any new information relating to the written down text. You should periodically revise the written text and try to memorize to make sure that you have actually grasped the idea.

This is the way to consume information and transfer them from your short-term memory to long-term memory. I hope you have a great day studying!

Have you ever tried to remember something only to forget it a few minutes later? Maybe you parked in a parking garage and you forgot what section you parked in, or maybe you went to the grocery store and forgot what you were supposed to buy, or maybe you even forgot your spouse’s birthday or your anniversary! If you had a portable MP3 player recorder, you could have simply recorded these things and then you could have played it back for instant memory retrieval.

The best MP3 players today offer recording capabilities so if you want a portable MP3 player recorder, you only have to splurge for one of the more expensive MP3 players. You’ll be happy to know that even the best portable MP3 player recorders don’t cost all that much money so you could have one of these players no matter what you budget looks like.

That’s Not All

Portable MP3 player recorders don’t just record your voice. They also play music. Some even play movies and offer more bells and whistles such as games, alarms and much more. That means you could be listening to your favorite song when you park your car in your local mall’s parking garage. You simply get out of your car, record your section into your portable MP3 player recorder, and then you can go right back to listening to your favorite song again.

With all of this offered in one tiny little device, no one should be without one. You know you’ve been in a situation where you needed to remember something and then you forgot it. It seems that the more you want to remember something, the quicker it evaporates from your memory. That makes a portable MP3 player recorder an invaluable tool for anyone.

You Must Play It Back

You must keep in mind that a portable MP3 player recorder won’t remember things for you if you don’t play your voice back. You cannot record your parking section, your shopping list, or your birthday or anniversary dates into the device and then just ignore them. That won’t do you any good. A good habit to keep would be to play back each item that you’ve recorded into your portable MP3 player recorder each night before you go to bed.

Write those things down and keep them in a place you know you’ll check often, such as on a note posted to the refrigerator door. If used properly, however, a portable MP3 player recorder will give you that photographic memory you’ve always wanted.

Learn How to Use My Photographic Memory

I used to believe that brain power was more of a term you gave to some Nasa Astronaut referring to how “brainy” they must already be to take on such a brain intensive training regime…

Truth is Astronauts are taught How to Develop their Photographic Memory as a compulsory part of their training. In order for them to be able to store and retrieve massive amounts of vital and intricate information, they certainly need this skill.

We can all decide to take on and hold more information. In fact you only have to put aside about 10 minutes a day to start developing your Photographic Memory and achieve outstanding results… it really is this easy.

For the most of us we may remember learning some Photographic Memory Skills at a very young age.

I remember how I learned to recognize the alphabet…my teacher would say “D” is for…Dog…I learned very quickly to use association to remember the alphabet this way, you probably did too.

So if we start to use association in everyday things as often as we can we will start to Develop Our Photographic Memory very rapidly indeed.

So Perhaps Start with something Simple…

For example if you are not so good at remembering names and you are about to meet a new group of people, first just try and remember as many names as possible

1. Look the person in the eye and repeat their name immediately. Hi “Roy” nice to meet you.

2. Try to repeat their name again at least once without sounding unnatural, “look Roy nice to finally meet you” or something…

3. Use some form of “visual” association immediately. For example…”Roy is a Boy” …maybe more creative than that…or you could imagine ROY tattooed on his forehead etc

The thing is you can make your own rules on how you do this …

If you make it fun then chances are you will remember it easily.

So the next time you want to remember something attach some kind of feeling to it, this will help you when you need to recall it again. Once you use association – the brain then neatly stores it in the filing cabinet (memory) where it can easily be retrieved when called upon.

There are various ways or techniques that can be used to improve your memory. There are some who use mnemonics to remember facts while there are those who remember information by being attentive. Whether you use different ways to improve your memory, the important thing is you do what works for you.

Knowing a variety of techniques in improving memory is not enough, though. Food, nutrients, and lifestyle – all of these can affect your memory. How to increase short term memory with these in mind? Here are some things to remember if you want to know how to increase short term memory with a change in your lifestyle.

First, is to exercise daily. Having a routine exercise daily helps improve circulation in the body including the brain which means that an adequate amount of oxygen is delivered to the brain. Oxygen is like food for our brain and it helps the brain function well. This in turn, can help minimize or prevent the memory loss that comes with aging. Also, the mind is relaxed after physical exercise which is good for the body. You can go for a brisk walk, cycling, jogging or swimming daily. Not only does it help to keep the body fit but it also helps the brain to function well.

Another way to improve your memory is to eat well and eat right. Your choices in food can affect your physical appearance and overall health as well. The brain cells also need essential nutrients and vitamins. Feed you brain with supplement to improve memory
such as Thiamine, Vitamin B6 and Niacin which can be found in potatoes, okra, squash, wheat, chicken, beef and other vegetables. Have a good helping of vegetables and fruits daily because they contain a lot of vitamins good for the brain. Drinking tea, coffee and chocolate drinks in the right amount is also good for the brain as they contain caffeine which is a brain stimulant. Just remember that too much caffeine can cause too much excitation which can interrupt memory function.

Research has also shown that eating foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids like tuna, kiwi, walnuts and foods containing antioxidants such as broccoli, blueberries and spinach helps to promote healthy brain functioning. Also remember to drink 8-12 glasses of water a day to avoid dehydration which can impede good function of the brain and avoid drinking too much alcohol and smoking which can deteriorate and damage your brain.

Aside from eating and exercising well, the brain also needs the body to rest. While sleeping, the brain stores new memory, hence, the amount of sleep affects the brain’s ability to recall recently learned information. Have a good uninterrupted sleep for a minimum of seven hours a night. Insomnia and interrupted sleep would impair the ability of concentration and storage of information.
It is also important for you to reduce stress. Stress which is prolonged can affect the brain and can physically damage it. It inhibits the formation of new neurons needed by the brain to function well. Although stress could not be possibly eliminated totally, you can reduce and control it. Have relaxation time for yourself by reading a book, singing, going out with friends, going for a vacation or whatever works for you.

Having a healthy lifestyle is a good way on how improve memory. Not only does it promote good memory but it also promotes the overall condition of your body too.

Boost your Memory with Brain Supplements

There are many supplements out there that are designed to keep the brain healthy and motivated. The brain in particular is an organ to be cared for, mainly because once it begins to fail, it cannot easily be brought back. Caring for the brain is as crucial as caring for the heart and other important organs, and supplements for brain health can help to keep the brain healthier longer. Supplements have been used for centuries to keep the body healthy in many aspects, and the brain is just another of our muscles and structures that needs to be taken care of. Knowing the type of supplements that are healthy for the brain can help your brain stay stronger and more alert longer, and keep forgetfulness, stress, and other brain diseases at bay!

A common brain supplement is Saint John’s Wort. This is a supplement most people associate with treating nervousness and anxiety, but in reality, taking Saint John’s Wort is more healthy for the brain than one would think. Stress is actually among the top factors for brain function loss, and stress as a rule tends to break the entire body down, starting with the brain itself. In managing stress with anxiety treating supplements like Saint John’s Wort (try Chamomile or peppermint if Saint John’s Wort isn’t your thing or if you are on birth control), you are helping your brain relax. When your brain relaxes, your entire body can be at ease, and your brain will work successfully for you much longer. A stress-free brain is a brain that can remember more longer, and maintains easy focus. Stress, in its own way, actually works to eat away the brain’s capabilities.

Vitamins, particularly B vitamins, are essential supplements for brain health.

In fact, simply taking a daily multi-vitamin can greatly improve your brain’s health in general, and help all your other major organs as well stay in tip-top shape. B-6 and B-12 vitamins are particularly healthy for the brain in helping it function at its best. If vitamins aren’t your thing, try your omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for prime brain function. Fish is brain food, and getting your fatty acids is crucial- your brain cannot produce omega-3 fatty acids on its own, and needs the supplements in order to function well. Think of putting oil in your car; this is much how these fatty acids work to help the brain work the way it should and keep it running smoothly.

Proper exercise and hydration, and taking care of your body in general, are especially beneficial to your brain. When you can keep your brain motivated by challenging games or thought, you work to keep your brain exercised and well-nourished. Simply keeping your brain stimulated can be perhaps the greatest supplement of all. Once the brain begins to suffer, it’s very difficult to bring the brain back to its former capabilities, so taking care of your brain today is the best way to ensure a healthy brain in the future.  As with any medications or supplements, it is important to consult with a licensed and qualified medical professional before making any decisions.

Every individual wants to enhance his memory power especially for those who are getting older. This is because as our age increases, we experience short term memory loss. Thus, we want to find ways on how to improve our memory so that we can keep focused on the things that we do. But the concern on improving the memory power is not just for adults but also for the young people who want to have increased mental focus particularly to students who desire to excel in school.

How We are Losing our Mental Focus

Our age is the only factor and the older we get, our brain deteriorates. Our brain will show signs that its capacity is already declining which leads to memory loss. But, this can be controlled and even reversed. To maintain the efficiency of our brain at peak, we have to take a lot of rest, more oxygen, along with proper nutrition. This is because as our arteries harden as we grow old, our brain absorbs less oxygen.

Our lifestyle and diet will also determine the rate of mental loss that we will experience because our brain needs the important nutrients to function well. At the same time, the stress that we encounter and other mental problems that we have will prevent our mind to rest well.

How Can We Improve our Memory Power?

Good thing there are a lot of ways where you can enhance your memory power. You can start with taking natural herb supplement instead of prescription medications for they have side effects. Your body will respond favourably with herbal supplements and you will have sharper minds in no time without damaging the other parts of your body.

Change of Lifestyle to Help Improve Memory Power

Change your lifestyle by replacing your bad habits with healthy routine. If you do this habitually, you will experience sharper mind with no short term memory loss. With this, you will have greater productivity and with greater satisfaction with your daily activities.

• Eat healthy by making sure that you are taking daily the right amount of grains, fruits, vegetables, and those foods that are high in potassium and magnesium. Hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water to improve your blood flow.
• Have a regular exercise to keep your body fit and at the same time to stimulate your brain through increased blood circulation.
• Make sure you keep your brain working by learning new skills and knowing new facts or information. Play mind games, read, and many others to reduce memory loss.
• Have enough sleep and rest and try to sleep eight hours per night for you to wake up refreshed and recharged the next day.
• Reduce stress in your life by resting your brain from stress through meditating or using Yoga to unload your daily pressures. You will have more focus if your brain is relaxed.

Conclusion

Your memory loss can be reversed if you have a healthy lifestyle and through taking a natural herbal supplement.

Lee Strasburg Acting Technique : Memory Exercises

Article by Alison Roskopp

Lee Strasberg was inspired by Stanislavski to create “The Method.” The Method is the most used acting technique in America. In fact most actors on screen and on stage were trained using Strasberg’s Method. The objective to this technique is to portray authentic emotions and thoughts in imaginary conditions.

Relaxation is stressed as it helps the actor stay free. Strasberg’s reason for ridding muscles tension is that the actor can enter a greater state of reaction and concentration.

Sense memory exercises are used to help the actor develop concentration needed. Sense memory is the ability of using one’s senses to remember experiences and objects. The actor utilizes all five senses during sense memory exercise.

Next is emotional memory. Emotional memory is recalling past emotional experiences to fuel a needed a emotion for a scene. The actor’s job is to re-create using his or her senses at the time of the experience. Through much practice and skill, a actor can bring on the needed emotion in a matter of seconds with just a memory of a smell or sound.

Characterization exercises trains the actor in making realistic and believable characters. One example is the widely known “animal exercise.” Here the actor will study and watch the animal, then using his or her five senses they try to become that animal. Eventually with practice, the actor then can take what he learned and apply it to whatever role is playing.

Scene work is also a big part of Strasberg’s method, where the actor will ask questions about the character when preparing for a role. Improvising is also highly encouraged so a scene can become more realistic and real for the student. Stanislavski’s technique of action verbs and breaking scenes into units is also heavily used. Strasberg also created additional exercises for specific issues that an actor may have such as, spontaneity or habitual behavior.

Students wishing to get into method acting must learn to lose their inhibitions, as often times work done in these classes feel uncomfortable and may seem crazy. Class starts with an hour of relaxation to relive tension with the use of movement and voice. During these relaxation sessions it’s not unusual for an actor to laugh or cry as they release emotions and tension in the muscles. Then another hour is used for sense memory exercises. Acting students will each have their own assignments that they will work on at the same time as others.

A method acting class may be overwhelming to some students because the exercises can trigger many strong emotional responses. An experienced teacher can help students to be in control of their craft.

Finally, there is a lot of homework that is involved when using Strasburg method. Sense memory is one of the hardest aspects to this type of acting technique. Practice is imperative.

Alison Roskopp studied Lee Strausberg technique in Los Angeles. She recommends always continuing your training at one of the few top acting schools in Los Angeles. She currently recommends the acting lessons Hollywood actors swear by – Lesly Kahn Actor Training.
