Someone in the past may have told you that once you reach the age of five, your brain stops growing. On the contrary, no matter how old you are, your brain constantly grows, changes, and adapts. It does slow down as you age, but it never stops completely. You may have already heard of brain training downloads being used in order to improve your brain power. Brain training downloads are generally programs or courses that are downloaded to help you use more of your brain effectively.

The Zox Pro system is one of these programs, and it can help you tap into your super-conscious part of the brain. This helps you develop those natural talents that you never knew you had, such as speed reading or having a photographic memory. Training the brain has been studied for years and scientists now know that your brain can be trained to do anything you would like. Training your brain will help you be more efficient and productive with everything you do in life.

As a race, the average person uses only two percent of their brain. So, what is going on with the other ninety eight percent? It is just lying dormant and being wasted. When you learn how to harness that extra power, there is no limit to what can be done with it. Learning how to speed read and having a photographic memory will help you remember everything you see or read.

Our brain is a big part of who we are. It determines so many things in our lives, such as what we can and cannot do, and how smart we are. It determines so much about our personality and life. In only ten minutes a day, you can increase the power of your brain and live a much happier and fulfilling life.

“howtoimprovebrainpower.info Many people have been asking me to do a review on this product as there seems to be little information out there since it’s a relatively new product on the market. I went out and bought the program for just under 0 (the program is meant to be worth just over 00 in tutorials alone) as I was hearing some very interesting things about it from my peers. The course comes with a series of tutorial videos and an ebook brain bible which shows the basic layout of the system as well as getting into more of the nitty gritty of the methods which guide you on your journey of improving your brain power. As it’s known, average human beings use about 1% of the potential brain power and this method works to unlock this untapped neural power. When I started to learn from the course I started to realize some things about the brain which I never knew before, such as in depth detail of photographic memory and how all children up to the age of 5 retain a photographic memory. The course goes into detail with simple exercises and methods to practice this ability, I found that after the first day I had a better memory in general as I was testing myself to keep a personal daily record. Some of the exercises discussed in the program are truly simple, unique and powerful in their own right. Each could probably be sold alone but the author decided to bundle them all together for the readers benefit. One of the methods works to improve your reading skills, allowing

Just What is Downs Syndrome? : Brain Vitamin

Article by David Cowley

It’s unfortunate that many people today just don’t have the proper understanding of Downs Syndrome and what exactly this means. Some make wrong assumptions about those with this condition, their abilities, and their intelligence level. It’s true that many with Downs Syndrome have typically lower than average cognitive abilities, but only a very small percentage of those with this condition are impaired enough to need constant supervision or to keep them from functioning on their own.

The actual condition itself is caused by a disorder of the chromosomes, with all or part of an extra twenty-first chromosome. There are some physical characteristics that are common among those with Downs Syndrome, including almond-shaped eyes caused by a fold in the eyelids. Some also have a particular type of crease on the hands, shorter limbs than average, poorer muscle tone than average, and a protruding tongue. Those with Downs Syndrome are often easy to spot because of these physical characteristics, but rarely do any of those with this condition have physical abnormalities that would keep him or her from functioning in normal circumstances. There is also an increased risk for heart defects, acid reflux disease, ear infection, sleep apnea, and often thyroid disease or disorders. Other than these conditions, those with Downs Syndrome rarely have any type of severe physical limitations or concerns.

This condition is different for everyone that has it in severity and limitations. However, most of those with Downs Syndrome are able to be integrated into public schools, sports, and the workplace. They may have certain limitations when it comes to their understanding of complex concepts but typically can handle money and a budget, manage their own apartment or home, and can also care for a baby when needed. The majority of those with this condition can care for themselves and their family as well as anyone else.

It’s very shortsighted to assume that anyone with Downs Syndrome is severely disabled or unable to function or make decisions on his or her own. Again, this condition affects each patient differently, but the vast majority is just as functioning as anyone else.

Some years ago there was a very popular television series that revolved around a young man with Downs Syndrome, his family, and his schooling. They portrayed how successful he was in fitting in with other classmates, making decisions about his own activities, and even in running for class president. The TV series was very realistic about his limitations as well, but was an honest portrayal of what it’s like to have this condition. Anyone with Downs Syndrome should be considered as capable and functioning as anyone else, and should be given every chance to succeed.

DO NOT GIVE CALCIUM SUPPLEMENTS. It is believed that large unused quantifies of calcium inn the downs syndrome fetus was a major contributing factor in causing the health related problems. Common Vitamins and over the counter products may help with Downs Syndrome.

Boron is known as the calcium helper and assists calcium absorption and utilization in the body.

Vitamin E promotes the natural body healing mechanism and oxygen to the heart and other muscles in the body. In addition it improves circulation.

Ginkgo is needed for the proper functioning of the vascular system and for improving blood circulation to the brain.

Vitamin B is known to help maintain the normal vasodilatation.

Amino Acid helps regulate growth, digestion and maintaining the body’s immune system.

Oat Bran helps to regulate blood glucose levels, aids in lowering cholesterol, and helps in the removal of toxins.

Vitamin C is essential for defending the body against pollution and infections and enhances the immune system.

Stress Management And Brain Training : Brain Training

Article by Leon Lioe

Stress can kill. We have heard health experts say that before. Dr Paul Rosch, a medical scientist and stress expert said that stress is one of the major reasons for heart disease, cancer, lupus and respiratory problems.

Constantly experiencing stress can wear out your mind and body. Brain training is one of the ways to rejuvenate or worn out disposition.

The American Medical Association, cited that there are 75% of illnesses attributed to stress. World Health Organization (WHO) identifies stress as the leading health problem among Americans.

Physical health is not the only thing affected by stress. Stress can lead to depression or anxiety attacks, which then forces you to visit the doctor to get a prescription.

There are studies showing that brain training could actually help people who are suffering from depression and anxiety. Neurotherapy would determine brainwaves and areas of the brain triggering these problems. Eventually, patients are trained or coached on how to recreate a calm state to overcome symptoms.

However, not only depression and anxiety trigger mental health issues. Chronic stress could also cause neurons or brain cells to die. Chronic and long-term stress could hurt the brain function such as memory and motor skills. Stress could also affect ability to focus and concentrate.

Relaxation techniques, exercise and healthy lifestyle could actually help in relieving stress. However, brain training could help in achieving longer results. Brain training to reduce stress could be in a form of meditation, visualization, or even self-hypnosis.

Meditation is a great activity for relaxing your body, breathing exercises and visual imagery. When meditation is combined with physical exercises, it produces more benefits whether physical or mental. For instance, Yoga is a great exercise that combines breathing exercises, relaxation techniques, physical movements and even imagery.

Stress should not be considered just as a normal condition or situation. There are different ways on how a person can face and reduce it, brain training could be one of the ways. But it is a matter of making choice and taking action of becoming stress-free.

Not being able to remember things you felt you had taken care of completely can be very frustrating. Lots of techniques exist now that will guide your mind into being able to recall memories and information that you stored away in the past. Continue reading to find advice which can help you to remember whatever you wish to.

One excellent tip that will start improving memory is to make sure you start regular exercise. In other words, exercise is as good for your mind as it is for your body.

Minimize the amount of coffee you drink. A lot of caffeine, the main ingredient in coffee, soda and other beverages, may cause you to become dehydrated. Since your brain is primarily made up of water, dehydration will make you feel exceptionally tired, and your brain will have trouble functioning as a result. Your memory will suffer as a consequence.

One technique for making it easier to recall information is to use “chunking.” “Chunking” allow you to group information, such as digits in a phone number, together in a way that will be easy to call upon at a later point, when you need to apply the information, or write it down for someone else.

Take a ginseng supplement to have a better memory. It has been proven that the ingredients can help your brain absorb and retain information. There are also other benefits from ginseng to help your overall health. You should also start drinking green tea to help with any memory loss.

Most will agree that proper exercise is great for your body, but it’s also great for your brain. Partaking in physical activity can help your memory function. In addition to the physical benefits to the body, this will also aid memory retention on both a short and long term basis. This can be attributed to the fact that physical activity enriches the blood with oxygen, which then nourishes the brain.

To keep your memory strong, stay socially active. You will learn to stay alert, and have positive thoughts. If you’re feeling alone or downhearted, your mind isn’t as stimulated, and your brain doesn’t get the workout it needs. If you have stimulating conversation with your friends, this helps give you a strong mind, which leads you to better memorization.

If there is a time when you have been given information that you do not remember, think of it your way to learn it. It can be hard for some to memorize thoughts and words if they don’t understand the meaning.

Instead of studying random topics, it’s best to organize study notes into subject groups. Memory research shows that organizing information into related groupings can be a more effective way to memorize it for later recall.

Exercise is good for your memory, not just your body. If you treat your body well, it will work to enhance your ability to recall and process information. Additionally, exercise encourages oxygen to flow to the brain, which reduces your risk of dementia. Exercise activates brain chemicals which assist in protecting brain cells.

One great technique that you can utilize in order to keep things in your memory is to simply write them on paper. Not only does this circulate blood to the part of the brain responsible for memory function, but it also exercises it. If you write detailed lists or keep a diary, you can increase your short-term memory abilities.

Have you ever been driven crazy because you “almost, but not quite” remembered something? Remember that this is a very common occurrence for most people at some point or another. Just take a step back and breathe deeply, and thing about the word and how you can remember it. When you can successfully do this, it generally makes the word that eludes you move to the front of your thoughts.

Stress can make you forgetful. When you’re attempting to recall where you placed something, try to relax. Let yourself have time to remember instead of losing patience and getting upset with you.

Be sure to meet lots of people and keep lots of good friends to help keep your memory functions intact. Many studies show that being around people you love, for as little as a couple of hours per week, helps you to keep the area of your brain which helps you to recall memories, strong and healthy.

Study more than what you need to know. It is easier to remember something when your knowledge about it is more than basic. Suppose you are looking up a word that you do not understand. Do not just stop after you have read the definition; take a few minutes to look for examples of the word as it is used in a sentence.

Remember important information with the use of mnemonic devices. This technique calls for linking the new information with something you already know well. For example, popular mnemonic tools may center on rhyming phrases or ideas put to melody. This approach is both entertaining and effective.

Hook information together to help you remember information. The logic implies that related information can be connected together, which will help you remember. However, by connecting unrelated items together, you can also have recall occur. An example would be if a chemistry student were trying to remember the element symbol for lead from the periodic table, they could recite a phrase such as ‘peanut butter (Pb) lead’. It’s a bizarre connection, but that’s what makes it memorable.

Your brain is like a muscle; you have to work it out to keep your memory sharp. People who do puzzles and play card games often have fewer problems with memory loss and senility.

It was stated that these tips would help you to recall the information that is in your memory when you need it. Hopefully these tips will help you to find the way to do just that. It will make things in your life much easier and less frustrating than it was when you forgot it all.

Tips And Tricks On How To Improve Memory : Photographic Memory

Article by Kurt Ferguson

A question that has bothered us time and again, whether we are professionals or students or simply homemakers, is how to improve memory so that life becomes less complicated. Very few of us are blessed with a photographic memory and for those who are less fortunate; there are some suggested ways on how to improve memory. Such memory training can ensure better memory management and help you stay mentally agile.

Steps To Improve Memory:

* Convince yourself that you own a good memory which simply needs to be nourished.

* Memory training begins with associations because when you are associated with someone actively you are more likely to remember his number for instance. Alternatively, you could start forming an easy phrase beginning with the first letters of the numbers to help you recall it easily.

* Improve memory by trying to visualize the information.

* Learning to club information together is a significant aspect of memory training. A shopping list is a random list which may be very hard to recall but categorizing the items might make this exercise simpler.

* When numbers are large, you can try to remember them by associating them with special events that can be personally important or even historically significant!

* Repeat learning is a great way of improving memory power – you can even make use of flash cards to improve memory for studying.

* Remember last minute cramming before exams only serves to insert information that will last in your memory for a very short period of time. When you space out studying, your brain gets the opportunity to store information in the long term memory. Varying your study routine like changing the place of your study may help you to remember better.

* Harnessing mental skills regularly exercises the brain like trying to learn a new language or play a musical instrument or solving crosswords and puzzles.

* Regular exercising that promotes blood circulation and eating right are critical when you want to know how to improve memory. You can feed your brain by taking supplements like Vitamin B6, Thiamine and Niacin.

* Avoid getting stressed because chronic stress tends to damage the brain physically affecting memory. Although stress cannot be completely eliminated, there are ways of controlling it by practicing meditation, yoga and so on.

* Being sleep deprived harms your memory; seven hours of rest at the least is a great way to improve both long term and short term memory.

* Giving yourself adequate time for a memory to form is one major trick on how to improve memory. Do not make space for distractions and concentrate exclusively on the thing that you must remember.

* A typical exercise in memory training would be to try and remember as much details as you can about an unfamiliar photograph after carefully studying it and then keeping it away.

* Students use mnemonic devices to improve memory – this involves associating every data with some commonly used object. Memory pegs use visualization techniques by employing known landmarks as links to critical data.

* Relating new data to already known things helps to boost memory.

* Teaching others new things can also help you recall better.

These are some easy tips on how to improve memory but none of it is achievable unless you learn how to balance the serious memory building exercises with lighthearted pastimes. Enjoying healthy relationships is the best way to enjoying good emotional and good brain health!

What Is An Unconventional Cure For Sciatica Pain? : Brain Vitamin

Article by Marcus Twain

By Marcus Twain

Without a lot of invasive medical procedures or treatments, there are some people who believe that the body is fully capable of healing itself. In order to cure their sciatica pain and improve their symptoms, instead people turn to a few unconventional natural treatments.

To improve their back pain some people use vitamin D. When your body is exposed to the sun, Vitamin D is naturally produced by your body. Many people who were suffering from some form of musculoskeletal disorder were deficient in vitamin D, recent studies have shown. By simply getting more sunlight or taking a supplement you can add vitamin D to your diet.

To aid you in the health of your bones and brain vitamin B12 is used. People who are deficient in vitamin B12 often suffer from a decreased of muscle control which could lead to pernicious anemia. You can help avoid or reduce your dependency on over-the-counter sciatica pain medications by taking vitamin B12 regularly. You can add vitamin B12 by consuming various meats and poultries, if your system lacks vitamin B12.

You have to make sure that you receive enough magnesium when it comes to maintaining a healthy muscular and central nervous system. One of the most important trace minerals in the body, magnesium is somewhat underappreciated mineral. The required mineral magnesium is responsible for over three hundred chemical reactions in the human body. You can add magnesium to your diet by eating vegetables such as spinach, parsley, cauliflower, broccoli, blackberries, celery, beets, and carrots.

As a natural treatment to sciatica pain you can also try massage therapy. For those who experience chronic bouts of lower back pain or people who suffer from acute sciatica attacks, massage therapy is perfect. From the gentle lower back massage some pregnant women who are having a tough time adjusting to their weight gain would also benefit from this form of therapy.

To relieve your back pain changing your diet is also a natural way that is great. You should be looking for an anti-inflammation diet. An anti-inflammation diet will focus on avoiding foods that may be contributing to the chronic inflammation causing your pain. The anti-inflammation diet also teaches you which foods that would help reduce inflammation of pain. Fish, nuts healthy fats and oils, different kinds of berries are just some of the foods included in the anti-inflammation diet. And of course you should drink lots of water.

You can follow these simple self-care guidelines to reduce pain during those times when you suffer from acute sciatica attacks. First, do not take long naps or rest in bed all day. It is better to remain active to keep your muscles from tightening up, but you should avoid overly straining your back and lifting heavy items. Hot packs to your back are something can apply. Pain killers are less effective than direct heat. You can apply hot and cold packs alternately if the pain is specifically in your lower back. You can turn to natural choices to alleviate sciatica symptoms, in addition to lifestyle changes such as exercise. For more information go yoursciaticapainrelief.com

The sky is falling! With more people without jobs, rising oil price, falling home prices and a credit crunch in the US have brought consumer confidence to its lowest point in five years.. On the horizon is a fairly long recession coming our way, many American families may be battening down and planning belt tightening measures.

Its interesting to know that curbing consumer spending in the short term, may cause some Americans to loosen the belts around their waists Where’s the connection? The brain has a limited capacity for self-regulation, so exerting willpower in one part of your life may lead to backsliding in another part.

However, there is good news. Practice increases willpower capacity so that, in the long run, buying less at the present moment may improve our ability to achieve future goals – such as losing those extra pounds we gained when we weren’t out shopping.

Our brain has a store of willpower and this dwindles when we control our thoughts, feelings or impulses or when we modify our behavior in pursuit of our goals. Psychologist Roy Baumeister and others have found that people who successfully accomplish one task requiring self-control are less persistent on another unrelated task.

In one groundbreaking study, some people were asked to eat radishes while others received freshly baked chocolate chip cookies before trying to solve an impossible puzzle. The radish-eaters gave up the puzzle in eight minutes on average, working less than half as long as people who got cookies or those who were excused from eating radishes.

In another test, people asked to circle every “e” on a page of text then showed less persistence in watching a video of an unchanging table and wall.

There are other activities that saps willpower and these include resisting food or drink, suppressing emotional responses, restraining aggressive or sexual impulses, taking exams and trying to impress someone. Task persistence is also reduced when people are stressed or tired from exertion or lack of sleep.

But what holds back willpower? Studies have suggested that it is blood sugar, which brain cells use as their main energy source and cannot do without for even a few minutes. Most cognitive functions are unaffected by minor blood sugar fluctuations over the course of a day, but planning and self-control are sensitive to such small changes.

When you exert self-control, you lower blood sugar and this reduces the ability for further self-control. People who drink a glass of lemonade between completing one task requiring self-control and beginning a second one perform equally well on both tasks, while people who drink sugarless diet lemonade make more mistakes on the second task than on the first.

If you consume foods that raises blood sugar levels for longer periods like foods containing protein or complex carbohydrates, you may enhance willpower for longer periods. In a short term period, you should understand that you have a limited willpower budget and therefore should spend it wisely. For instance, if you do not want to drink too much at a party, then on the way to the party, you should not deplete your willpower by window-shopping for things you cannot afford. Taking another route to avoid passing the store would be a good idea.

If you need to study for a big exam, it might be wise to conserve your energy by saving the household chores for another day, so that you conserve your willpower for the more important task at hand. Similarly, it can be counterproductive to work towards different goals at the same time if your willpower cannot cover all the efforts that are required. Focusing your effort on one or at most, just a few goals at one time will increase the odds of success.

Concentrating on success is vital as willpower can grow in the long term. Willpower is like a muscle, and can gain strength with use over time. The concept of exercising willpower is seen in army boot camp where recruits are trained to overcome one obstacle after another. And the challenges get tougher from one to the next.

In psychological studies, even a task as simple as using your non-dominant hand to brush your teeth for two weeks can raise willpower capacity. People who stick to an exercise plan for two months are shown to have reduced their impulsive spending, junk food intake, alcohol use and smoking. They also study more, watch less television and do more housework.

People who take up a short-term memory training course to train their brains report less stress during exams. It is the wisdom that persistently doing and learning a short-term task with memory techniques will lead to long term benefits that motivates such people. The trainees eventually experience better memory recalls when studying or meeting people for the first time, better study skills and accelerated learning and cognitive ability and having a more positive outlook in life. They also experienced better concentration and elevated moods at school or at work and are better at managing their emotions.

Other forms of willpower training, like money-management classes work as well. No one knows why will power can grow with practice but it must be due to some biological change in the brain. Maybe neurons in the frontal cortex, which is responsible for planning behavior or in the anterior cingulated cortex, which is associated with cognitive control, use blood sugar more efficiently after repeated challenges.

Perhaps one of the chemical messengers that neurons use to communicate with one another is produced in larger quantities after it has been used up repeatedly, thus improving the brain’s willpower capacity.

Whatever the explanation, consistently doing any activity that requires self-control seems to increase willpower, and the ability to resist impulses and delay gratification is highly associated with success in life.

Eddy Davelaar PhD One of the most enduring debates in the psychological literature is that of the distinction between short- and long-term memory. Whereas the old data is still used in the recent debates (Davelaar et al., 2005, 2006; Howard & Kahana, 2002; Neath & Brown, 2006), the methods employed have become more sophisticated and analytic. In this talk, I will continue the trend of previous authors (Crowder, 1982; Greene, 1986) and summarize the various data patterns that need to be accounted for. I will disentangle the components of the debate and focus on the various definitions of short-term storage. Within the activation-based framework, short-term storage is a process of sustained activation of long-term knowledge and is different from a separate box in which information is placed for a short term. I will show that previous mathematical treatments have not exhausted the various definitions of short-term storage and as such a short-term buffer has never been fully explained away. I will present new empirical findings that provide interesting challenges for any contemporary model of memory and new computational results that show why having an activation-based short-term buffer is useful in monitoring self-learning.

Getting Rid of Headaches the Natural Way : Brain Vitamin

Article by David Cowley

There’s really no pain that can be compared to consistent and chronic headaches. Whether they’re technically migraines or just dull aches that are the result of sinus problems or something else, they can be not just painful but blinding, nauseating, and even virtually crippling. While some headaches require a doctor’s intervention because they’re the result of a serious medical condition, the vast majority of them can be treated at home naturally so that they can be prevented or at the very least lessened.

Getting at the Cause

Realizing the root cause of most headaches is the real key to fixing or lessening them. Stress is the cause of many cases; stress makes your body react with that “fight or flight” response where the heart beats faster in order to push more blood to the muscles, in case you need to fight or run away. Your head starts to hurt because your blood pressure goes up and that pressure radiates even to your brain. You can also get them from stress because your body tenses up and you often don’t realize it; your shoulders and neck are held tightly and this causes pain in your muscles that then radiates up to your head.

Stress also causes headaches because our minds were designed to deal with only so many things as once. When you have a lot of different noises coming at you, don’t your ears hurt? If you try to lift something too heavy, don’t your arms and back hurt? So it is with our brains – overloading them makes them hurt.

Dehydration and certain food choices also cause headaches, although some people just seem to have a higher sensitivity to certain foods than others. If you notice that you have pain after eating chocolate or having caffeine, then you know you’re sensitive.

Getting Rid of Them

So if you know the causes, the next step is to address those causes rather than just downing aspirin or other medications to treat the symptoms. If you’re under a lot of stress, make a plan to deal with it in an appropriate manner. Maybe you can’t get a new job or hand off some of your responsibilities, but sometimes just putting things in perspective can help stave off those stress headaches. Indulging in favorite activities during your off-hours can also help, as this gives you something to look forward to. Join a gym, do volunteer work, take an adult education class, or make plans to get together with your friends more often.

Paying attention to your diet is also great to help cure headaches. Drink plenty of fluids and avoid fried foods, chocolate, or anything else that you’re sensitive to. Make sure your environment is comfortable – dim some lights, put a glare guard on your computer screen, and go outside for fresh air as much as possible. If you do all these things, you’re sure to at least have far fewer headaches than you did before.

Some common vitamins and over the counter can also help in the prevention of headaches such as Ginkgo Plus, Vitamin E and Quercitin.

Ginkgo Plus supplies a comprehensive range of important nutrients needed for the proper functioning of the vascular system and for improving blood circulation to the brain.

Vitamin E supplies Oxygen to the heart and the other muscles in the body. Accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Quercitin is a powerful antioxidants and can reduce inflammation boost the immune system and strengthen blood vessels and improve circulation. Take 500 mg twice daily.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

The 5 Best Brain-Boosting Foods : Brain Foods

Article by Kathryn Steed

Can food make you smarter? In a way, yes. Food can’t improve your knowledge, but certain foods can enhance your brain function, memory, and alertness. While you shouldn’t depend solely on food to keep your brain healthy, snacking on these will help you build a mammoth mind and a massive memory.

BerriesBerries are rich in antioxidants, which help reduce oxidative stress in the brain. Strawberries contain a flavenoid called fisetin which can improve the memory, but blueberries are probably the most beneficial for aging brains. In lab tests, they helped improve the cognitive function of elderly lab rats, and blueberry extract can help limit brain damage due to a stroke. Doctors recommend three servings of fruit per day, so try to make at least one of them berries.

EggsCholine, a nutrient that is important to brain development and memory, is abundant in egg yolks. Choline is especially important for children under the age of seven because their brains are in the early stages of development. Eggs are fairly high in cholesterol, so try not to get too carried away when it comes to this brain food.

SalmonSalmon, along with other oily fish, is high in omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids contain DHA, an acid that helps your brain transmit signals. Generally, low levels of DHA in the brain can result in memory loss, lack of concentration, or mood disturbances. But sometimes, people who do not consume enough DHA even suffer from memory loss, depression, ADD, schizophrenia, or autism. Doctors recommend that adults consume between 2-4 grams of omega-3 per day.

CoffeeFreshly-ground coffee beans are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids. Several studies have shown that regular coffee consumption can reduce one’s risk of dementia. Recently, researchers in South Korea found that coffee may even slow the growth of brain tumors. It is important, however, to try to drink coffee in its purest form when possible. Combining it with fattening creamers or sugary syrups is counterproductive and poor quality coffee does not contain as many beneficial elements.

NutsNuts contain a great deal of vitamin E, a brain-healthy vitamin. It can help prevent memory loss due to aging. Walnuts, like salmon, also contain omega-3. Cashews contain magnesium that allows more oxygen into the blood cells in the brain. The addition of oxygen makes the brain work better. Peanuts and pecans contain the brain-boosting nutrient choline. Doctors recommend eating one ounce of nuts per day.

The health of your brain will ultimately effect the fulfillment of your life. A brain that doesn’t function and fire the way it should can have unknowing results on your feelings and daily mood. This is why it is so important to learn more about brain health, brain plasticity and how both can dramatically improve your standard of life.
What is brain plasticity?
The ability of your brain to change dramatically through learning and experience makes the human brain so very unique. Plasticity refers to this fact that your brain is constantly changing for better or for worse as you age and live out your daily cycle.
And this is not just a figure of speech, the actual gray matter in your brain alters physically as you learn more and experience events throughout your life. Besides the gray matter changing form, your brain also uses neural pathways and connections that give you feeling and shapes the way you feel at any given moment. This is also constantly changing with time as well.
Anytime you learn something new, you are creating new pathways in your brain that will hardwire itself in their so you can recall it and perform the same task again without having to relearn how to do it.
These pathways also go away with time when you don’t have to use them for an extended period of time. If you have ever forgotten someone’s name, this is a good example of that neural pathway being broken.
Brain health can be optimized with certain mind training and brain rehabilitation exercises and programs. Using advanced and scientific programs like CognaFit will help keep your brain healthy as you age and you may also even increase cognitive abilities with consistent training.
New brain research is telling us that brain plasticity is even more remarkable than we originally thought. Our brain functions are tightly tied in with our emotions and feelings and we can train them to stay positive and healthy even as we get older. We can even use brain training programs on people that have known illnesses like autism, bipolar disorder and depression to better their lives and eliminate the illnesses for good.
So if you want to maintain great brain health or even improve your own memory and learning abilities, take advantage of your own brain plasticity and use scientifically proven programs to train your brain for the better. Remain sharp and witty through brain exercises and training.

Understanding Congenital Heart Disease : Brain Vitamin

Article by David Cowley

Arguable the heart is the most important organ in the human body. Without the heart life would not be possible, it is responsible for getting nutrients and oxygen throughout the body by way of the circulatory system. Modern medicine has advanced greatly within the last 30 years and almost all heart diseases can be treated successfully if detected in time.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a malformation of the large blood vessel near the heart. Congenital heart disease is one of the most common forms of major birth defects in newborns, affecting approximately 8 percent of infants and is normally diagnosed within one week from birth.

Prior to birth the fetus is not effected by this birth defect. The blood circulates differently prior to birth and the fetus derives oxygen and nutrients from the mother through the placenta. The fetal circulation has important communications between the upper heart chambers and the great blood vessels near the heart. Most types of congenital heart disease are well tolerated during fetal life and only present a problem after birth.

This disease can have different causes such as:

Environmental factors such as chemicals or drugs are sometimes to blame. If the mother develops measles or rubella, or consumes alcohol during pregnancy, the disease can impair the development of the fetus heart or other organs.

About 50 percent of children with Down’s syndrome also have CHD. Down’s Syndrome is caused by the presence of a single extra chromosome when the sperm cell and ovum join together. The general scientific option is that the extra chromosome produces extra enzymes in excessive quantity. It is believed that the excessive enzymes somehow cause them to interfere with each other and that the developing cells are inefficiently nourished and the bloodstream becomes clogged with the unused nutrients. As a result the organs and tissues do not mature properly. At birth the heart, lungs and brain are malformed and function poorly.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Heart Disease such as Boron, Vitamin E, Ginkgo, Vitamin B, Amino Acid, Oat Bran, and Vitamin C.

Boron is known as the calcium helper and assists calcium absorption and utilization in the body.

Vitamin E supplies Oxygen to the heart and the other muscles in the body. Accelerates wound healing and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

Ginkgo Plus supplies a comprehensive range of important nutrients needed for the proper functioning of the vascular system and for improving blood circulation to the brain.

Vitamin B taken together as a team perform vital biological processes including aiding in the healing process for congestive heart failure and reduces fluid retention. It is required for the development of red blood cells.

Amino Acid helps regulate growth, digestion and maintaining the body’s immune system.

Oat Bran helps to regulate blood glucose levels, aids in lowering cholesterol, and helps in the removal of toxins.

Vitamin C is nature’s protective nutrient, essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the bodies’ immune system. Take 1,000 to 5,000 mg daily.

If you are at risk from Congenital Heart Disease then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Food and Vitamins for Brain Health : Brain Foods

Article by Carole Gayle

Is your brain not as sharp as it once was? Do you have trouble remember things, or retaining information? Or maybe the problem is more in line with Attention Deficit Disorder, or related childhood brain issues. Brain health is something that should be taken seriously. While you don’t often think about brain health when everything is working smoothly, it certainly gets your attention when it is not. Here are some food supplements for the brain that are known to be useful in improving brain function.

The first is your basic multi-vitamin and mineral complex. Moderate doses of vitamins and minerals are excellent brain insurance. In several studies, children who received multivitamin and minerals supplements were observed to have an increase in IQ scorings.

Antioxidant supplements also help clear the brain by the prevention of brain rusting. This is because antioxidants are to remove the rust that prevents the oxidation of our brain mass. Antioxidants are, therefore, primary for optimal brain health. Examples of antioxidants are vitamins C, vitamin E, grape seed extracts, alpha-lipoic acid and coenzyme Q10. Foods rich in antioxidants include raw spinach, garlic, cranberries, cooked cabbage, plums, raisins, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

Omega-3 essential fatty acids, found in abundance in cold-water fish, flax seed and walnuts are known for building bridges of communication in neurons that help improve mood and functioning of the center of the brain. Children who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids during their early development periods may have a lower IQ level in the latter stages of their lives. Omega-3 fatty acids found in cold sea fishes like tuna, sardines, herring, mackerel, salmon, oysters, nuts, and linseed oil. The vegetarian form of essential fatty acids like nuts and seeds are particularly recommended for pregnant women and nursing mothers to increase brain development of fetuses and infants.

Finally, ginkgo biloba is said to ward off memory loss associated with aging. The substance is known to destroy free radicals and increases blood circulation and supply of oxygen to the brain.

If there is a need to correct or deal with brain issues, feeding the brain the nutrients it needs can be substantial in effect. Incorporating any or all of these brain foods and brain food supplements will go a long way in protecting the brain from damage and giving it the nutrients it needs to work smoothly and without hitch. Diet is usually the best way to get these nutrients but if not, supplementation is always the next best step.
