Cannabinoids inhibit the release of neurotransmitters in the hippocampus like acetylcholine, norepinephrine, and glutamate. This results in decrease in neuronal activity in that region. This ultimately blocks process associated with memory formation. Cannabis intake results in short-term memory loss and other mental disorders.

Long-term effects:Cannabis causes many health hazards which people suffer for lifetime. The long term affects of Cannabis abuse are:

Long Term Memory Loss: The Lack of Recall and Recognition : Short Term Memory

Article by Luke Salem

There is this existing problem among people that concerns memory loss. It is not an entirely new hindrance and throughout the years, people have been coping with it in some way or another. There are a couple of types of memory: short term and also long term. An errand or a lunch meeting are short term memory, thay are those instantly stored and will require immediate outcome. The names and faces of people that a certain someone may have introduced to you in the past, are long term memories and those are stored once and for all. As our brain identified these memories, it quickly sends a visual context that allows us to indentify and remember certain instances concerning who, where or what we are meant to do. As the name speaks for itself, short term memories are limited and people tend to forget them as the day winds. Long term memory on the other hand requires both recognition and recall so as for the brain to store the information and “access” the latter when it is required.

The human brain – it can only do so much. one of the disadvantages of the phenomenon calld human brain is memory storage, particularly long term memory. Long term memories, unlike a library where books are well coordinated and designated into subjects, categorized as well as clustered, are basically stored in the hippocampus, and needless to say, the hippocampus offers no categories, no catalogs and no partitions. Somewhere at the back of your head, once we can recognize the name and the face of a man or women that you may have encountered once, you will immediately ask: “I know you from somewhere” or “I know his name but I can’t seem to remember”.

An overdue long term memory that was immediately brought up when you saw that someone, is is what specialists refer to as the Tip of the Tongue phenomena. Long term memory loss is very common and does not affect whether you’re 16 or 60. It is the problem, although it can remember some little things about that event, our brain fails to get the memory. As time goes by, special dates, habits, telephone numbers are just some of the things that are filed overtime and for some reason or another, and we tend to forget some of them .

Concentrate

Storing instant information on your long term memory requires immediate storage. If someone introduces you to three people, in that case, 90 percent of those names will be deleted after 24 hrs. It is best to listen up to key details, for instances that you will be subjected to other names as well as faces, dates and other information on that particular day. If colleague introduced to you during your lunch break, do not be hesitant to make inquiries for the name of that lady in the green dress.

Take the example of your social security number and thus focus your attention as to how or exactly where you will need to have that information: An essential long term memory factor, are in those numerical character. Since they are valuable, the importance of that data will play a vital role in remembering as well as storing when your brain tells you to memorize them.

Play Games And Improve Your Short Term & Long Term Memory! : Short Term Memory

Article by Alison Stevens

How’s your memory?

Have you ever forgotten where you left your car keys? Or which area of the parking lot that you parked your car? Or the name of the person you were introduced to just seconds ago.

Memory is a general term used to describe a variety of brain functions. It is the ability to recall both recent events and events that occurred many years ago. Some level of memory loss is a normal part of the aging process for some people although many people retain extremely sharp memories for their entire lives.

Recently, there has been encouraging research reported by Harvard Medical School that suggests that the brain continues to develop new cells and makes new connections between them. This capacity for rejuvenation introduces the potential for future medical treatment to reverse memory loss. In the meantime there are many options to help brain function and improve memory as we age. Remember the adage: “use it or lose it”… this certainly applies to memory.

Often we learn best when we aren’t aware that we are learning! An example of this is when we are having fun or playing games. Many games can help you improve both your short term and long term memory.

Crossword puzzles can be both challenging and fun. They often force us to delve into our longterm memory to recall a word. They keep the brain active and stimulate thought processes and recall ability.

Video games are an often overlooked source of improving memory. Many games will require that you negotiate your way through a mapped course… you will be required to remember where you have been, who you have seen and recall landmarks. Without good memory skills it can be impossible to achieve the goal. Playing video games can improve your short term memory skills while you have fun and exercise your brain.

Most card games require a strong level of recall ability. Even simple games from childhood can help improve short and long term memory. Most people will be familiar with the card game simply called “Memory” where all the cards from a deck are placed face down on the table and each player attempts to find matching pairs. This old game is a brilliant way of improving your memory. And the more you play the better you get.

Another memory and recall game from childhood is to look around the room then close your eyes. With your eyes still closed you must recall all the blue items, or all the red items. Open your eyes and see how well you remembered what you had previously seen. This game not only improves your short term memory, it stimulates the brain and improves your observation skills. This memory game also teaches participants to think in pictures. It is generally agreed that people with photographic memories think in pictures so this is an excellent memory habit to develop.

When you’re looking for games to play to improve your memory it can be fun to check out your local toy store. Look at the range of board games available and you’re sure to find many games that will be helpful in improving your memory. Use your imagination and you may be able to develop your own games to improve memory while having fun!

Short Term and Long Term Memory : Short Term Memory

Article by Andrew Schwartz

The concept of memory includes ability of Memory is the ability of a being to retain, store, and recall information. The process of memorization begins with outer environmental motivation which creates sensory memory. The next process that happens in brain transferring of information to the short term memory, in there it can be preserved by rehearsal and supplementary encoded for saving it in long term memory otherwise it is forgotten. There are two parts of the long term memory depending on the kind of stored information: declarative memory(explicit) and procedural one(implicit). These two concepts are completely different because practical memory is based on understood learning and declarative memory needs conscious recall. All steps of memory have to be completed and information must be prearranged and kept in long term memory in order for the procedure of information retrieval and memorization to be successful.

Short term memory has a meaning of a working, active, or primary memory, since it keeps information for a limited number of seconds quite the opposite to the long term memory, in which an unlimited quantity of information is stored indefinitely. The information which is held in short term memory is the information newly regained out of long term memory, processed sensory input, and the information that was received from current mental processing. Short term memory length is limited to a restricted number of seconds and after that it can be relocated to long term memory by way of encoding or be completely forgotten. In general, the procedure of consolidation is improved either due to practice or connection to a thing that has already been kept in the long term memory.

One more negative quality of the short term memory is the imperfect ability both in amount and time of information stored. A definite estimation on the strict amount of capacity and time doesn’t exist; but on the other hand, short term memory is normally limited to a number of seconds, while the size is a factor of personal speed of information dispensation and has a period of about eight items.

Graphic Design for the Short Term Memory : Short Term Memory

Article by Kristen Friend

In an increasingly cluttered marketplace, it is critical to make an immediate, meaningful and lasting impression with your graphic design and branding. You only have seconds to do so, and if you fail it could mean the loss of customers and revenue.

Think differently.Start by changing the way you think about the word “simple.” Simplicity is not easy. Simplicity is innovative. It is more challenging and takes more discipline than the “kitchen sink” theory of design. If applied correctly to your brand strategy, you can say more with less.

5 key advantages to simplicity in design and messaging.

1. It is easily recognizable.2. It is memorable.3. It reduces visual and emotional tension.4. It is easy to understand. 5. It allows for a direct, coherent, consistent message across all brand channels.

Take advice from the experts.Marissa Mayer, Google’s director of consumer Web products, sums the importance of design simplicity excellently:

“Google has the functionality of a really complicated Swiss Army knife, but the home page is our way of approaching it closed. It’s simple, it’s elegant, you can slip it in your pocket, but it’s got the great doodad when you need it. A lot of our competitors are like a Swiss Army knife open• “and that can be intimidating and occasionally harmful.”

Google stays true to the equation: Robust Product + Simple, Direct Presentation = Success.

Test your brand. An easy way to evaluate the effectiveness of your marketing materials is to sit down and look at them briefly. Skim them. Don’t spend any more time than you would as a consumer looking at someone else’s materials for the first time. Now step away. Read a chapter in a book. Go on a walk. Do something distracting. Then sit down and think about your materials. What do you remember? Is you message clear? Is your design consistent? If you have trouble remembering your colors, focus or message, others certainly will too.

Satellite Internet Assisting Those with Dial-up in the Short-Term Memory : Short Term Memory

Article by Jon Jacobson

Cruising the internet one can find many articles written about the ‘death of dial-up.’ What might surprise the average reader are the dates attached to such articles. When did the scale finally tip, and broadband customers outweighed dial-up customers at long last? While most people would guess 1997, the real answer is 2007. Just three years ago the same number of people were subscribing to dial-up as broadband internet. Today, three short years later, the world is completely wired for high speed internet. In fact, most of the search engines, websites and internet features the average person uses on a daily basis are too heavy to be used with dial-up. That doesn’t change the fact, however, that many people are still stuck with it. While many areas of states like Arkansas and Indiana are well wired to a terrestrial broadband network like DSL or cable, others are still off the network map in no man’s land. These internet customers can choose between dial-up, or dial-up, or, now, finally a second option, satellite internet broadband.

Those in favor of dial-up see it as a simpler way of life, when always-on internet convenience meant people didn’t spend as much time online. What they fail to leave out is that people didn’t use the internet as much because it was a complete pain in the neck to dial in, and then half the time you’d get kicked off anyway! Like it or not the world is all about sending large files online, media sharing, and internet information. There are people that go to college, work, play, date and basically live online. Even though it might not be the most wholesome way to live, it is a reality. These people need an internet connection they can count on like a satellite broadband connection, and not some outdated dial-up 56k modem connection.

Granted, Arkansas and Indiana are states with vast farmlands where high speed internet might not be such a priority, but new generations of businessmen and women are looking to the internet to improve life for everything from recreation to even things like farming. Not everyone has to agree that using a high speed connection to be instant messaging and social networking is the right thing to do, in fact, it’s almost certainly not, but that is to deny all the great things a tool like the internet can accomplish. When the world is instantaneously connected, society can see far more clearly the ‘big picture,’ and how the world is interconnected. This kind of empathy and compassion is certainly needed in today’s society of fear and ‘terror,’ however, learning these lessons means using the internet in a positive way and not letting the pedantic applications take over. For those looking to step into the future and leave dial-up behind, a service they are still stuck using, it’s time to look into satellite internet broadband. As current dial-up users will have noticed, those that complain the most about broadband internet being worse for society than dial-up, probably still have a broadband DSL or cable subscription! Don’t let them get you down, make the right decision for you computing needs with satellite internet.

No matter what part of the state you live in, check out the coverage available from hughes net arkansas. Go high speed all across the state with satellite internet indiana.

Reviews On How To Sharpen Your Short Term Memory : Short Term Memory

Article by Joseph Elmes

Self ImprovementObservation is the sufficient tactic of all tactics employed that will help you sharpen the mind. In fact, researchers as well as others interested in observation, has proven that observation is the one of the ultimate strategies to sharpen the mind.I grew up using observation as my guide to survive. Unfortunately, my parents had little value on education, and the only time we went to school was at what time the parents felt they would get in trouble. Furthermore, I was not permitted to be in the house while my mother cooked, therefore, I had no teacher. Still, I learnt to cook by observation. I loved potato salad and slaw, so I observed carefully into the ingredients of bowls were other people cooked and went home and prepared the slaw and potato salad myself. I cooked some of the best potato salads, Macaroni Salads, and slaw of anyone around. All this from observing, yet the point are observing sharpens the mind.If you are studying, the best idea is to study in shorter spans. If you sit for hours at a desk, it will soon frustrate the mind. Like exercising if you over exert self you will workout without getting good results. However, as you study observes the details you read. This will help sharpen your mind and prepare you for tests.Another great idea while studying is taking notes. This too will help you to backtrack and review what you learnt. It is always good to review, preview, and practice. This great strategy will help sharpen your mind. Furthermore, previewing should be the first step, since you review statements, work, and other details before you jump into it.Observation is noting facts that come your way. The facts will help you to construct a memory that will have evidence. The mind works in mysterious ways, however you don

Did you know that maintaining the memory, in a sound state, is essential to keeping the brain healthy as well? Most often, your activities, to a great extent, rest on an assortment of information you recover from your memory bank. This information can be either short-term memory (which is a holding a small amount of information in mind like: remembering particular tasks that you have to do) or long-term memory (which is the ability to store information indefinitely so that you can use it again at a later date). While long-term memory comes without too much effort when you need it, short-term memory necessitates remembering information from the collection of things stored in your memory. This is why you must keep your memory in an excellent state so that you can accomplish productivity in your everyday activities.

The following are five tips for memory improvement:

1. You must always concentrate your attention on the required data that you want to remember. Even with interruptions around you, stay concentrated on what you are doing. The more you concentrated: the better the chances of remembering the data you want to remember.

2. Apply the best sense or senses when collecting data. This is what is called acuity in sensing your surroundings. For example, be attentive to the colours and specifics of a picture, or the specific sound or smell of what you want to remember. All your bodily senses are used to gather data depending on the situation at hand. While your sense of vision might be the most applied in assembling data, your senses of hearing, smell, taste, and touch are similarly significant and useful in recalling all kinds of things.

3. If you think that the material you are about to remember is going to be a little difficult to recollect then the best thing to do then, is to write it down. This can be useful in assembling very long and boring information, things like lecture notes, or a personal interview.

4. Remember to make sure that you have plenty of rest and sleep. You need it to keep you invigorated from the wearisome demand of work. So take time out to relax. Steer clear from stress and worry as much as possible. Also sidestep the tendency of saying to yourself, “I might forget it” because you’re a lot more likely to if you constantly say that phrase to yourself because this only increases your anxiety level.

5. As the body grows old, memory starts to diminish: but a robust memory will certainly improve the quality of your life. You can greatly strengthen the quality of your memory by constantly training your memory through reading and further cognitive undertakings like getting into the practise of deciphering crossword puzzles, or doing mental arithmetic The more you do these activities, the better memory retention is improved. Good luck!

The concept of accelerated learning is almost synonymous to honing and sharpening your memory. There are many accelerated learning techniques but it would be easiest if your memory is as sharp as a tack. Now, to really understand how your mind and memory works, here are the different types of memories that every person has. And understanding them will truly help you understand and master accelerated learning. Short-term Memory is where all the new things you are reading or watching or listening to is automatically stored. Some studies suggest that from everything you learn (in an interval of 15-60 seconds), only seven pieces of information would be stored. Long-term Memory is where information is stored over a much longer period and some scientists believe that it can store an infinite amount of information but recalling it is dependent on: repetition, understanding, frequency and the emotion attached to that information. Implicit/Procedural Memory is also known as our subconscious or unconscious memory. This is where our habits are stored (brushing your teeth, waking up at exactly the same time every day, etc.). This is the memory that automates or “auto pilots” our tasks. Explicit/Declarative Memory is whereon of different facts and events are stored. These are the things that we consciously want to remember. It has two subcategories. Episodic Memory is much like a person’s “autobiographical memory” because here is where all the memories about certain events and locations are stored (anniversary, first school, etc.). Emotion plays a huge part in this memory type. Semantic Memory is where all the structured facts like science and mathematics are stored. Sometimes, semantic memories are from episodic memories- this happens when the sentimental value of that information has been eradicated. Accelerated learning is very interesting because it allows you to have a wider knowledgebase and a deeper understanding of different concepts. It can also definitely give you an edge in school or in work. Whenever and wherever, you can definitely be of advantage when you know accelerated learning. Another way that accelerated learning and memory are interrelated is the fact that where we store our memories can be controlled! With certain accelerated learning techniques, you can bypass short term memory. By doing this, you’ll be sure to have the information that you need anytime. Obviously, if you have a poor memory or you always forget things easily, no matter how many accelerated learning techniques you know, you would not get the results that you would have wanted. Aside from the techniques themselves, other ways to improve your memory would be through eating right, proper exercise and different memory games or practices.

Mortgages – Short term memory : Short Term Memory

Article by Michael Challiner

Do you, in common with millions of other home owners, have a short-term mortgage? If so, it’s very easy to set up the monthly repayment and then get involved with so many other aspects of your life that time slips away and before you know it, the two or three year period of your loan is coming to an end. Whilst many lenders write to their customers towards the end of the loan period, it isn’t compulsory.

When you sign on the dotted line for your mortgage deal, you are issued with a key facts mortgage document which will include all the loan details together with the all important date that your fixed price deal will come to an end. If you forget this date and also fail to receive a reminder, the first thing you’ll become aware of it a notice of a change in monthly re-payments, which means that you’ll be going on to the lender’s usually expensive SVR, or standard variable rate.

As an example, on a loan of

Short Term Memory Loss can be Linked to Drinking Water Safety : Short Term Memory

Article by V.K. Rajagopalan

If you are not concerned with drinking water safety you certainly should be. Research has shown that just a 2% drop in the liquid contained in our bodies can be linked to short term memory loss. People may not drink enough aqua because it tastes bad or looks cloudy.

The drinking water in your home is not as safe as you may think. There are many contaminants that are present in the liquid that we drink even if it comes from a municipality. The amount of aqua you should drink can be calculated by taking your weight, dividing it by two and change the pounds to ounces.

These facilities use the same method of sanitizing water they have used for years. Chlorine bleach is the bacteria remover of choice. There are several reasons this is not a good product to use for sanitizing H2O.

Water used for showers causes steam. This is a bad thing for people who are asthmatic or have other breathing problems. The steam contains chlorine and this can cause an asthma attack or difficulty breathing for many people. A strong immune system, younger, healthier looking skin and shiny, soft and manageable hair is another benefit.

Here are some interesting facts when it comes to aqua. Drinking water faucets are a breeder of germs from the liquid constantly being pumped through them. Untreated liquid carries proteins, nutrients and enzymes to the body. Aqua also takes toxins and wastes out of the body.

When you travel if it is by airplane or car you should make sure you are hydrated. The one thing you do not want to do however, is to drink aqua inside the aircraft. Bottled water from a good filtering system is the best choice when flying or riding. This will ensure that you do not become sick from drinking contaminated liquid.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tested the water on passenger flights. Thirteen percent of 158 flights did not come close to meeting EPA standards for healthy liquid for drinking.

Drinking water safety is extremely important. It ensures clean aqua to help metabolize fat and change food into energy. The daytime fatigue we feel is caused by low consumption of liquid and it also helps to fight colds. Now that you are armed with this information, what you do with it will make the difference between being healthy or not.

Rajagopalan is a clean water enthusiast and has done extensive research on various water filtration systems. Applying that research to his own home has been very beneficial to him and his family in all-round protection.
