Auditory Memory Exercises Helps Enhance Short Term Memory Skills

Music, addresses, faces, dates – these are a few of the things that a lot of people forget about frequently. If it happens to you more frequently than you’d like, there are a variety of strategies to bolster memory that everyone can always do. One particular strategy could be auditory memory exercises. It isn’t stating that it will not take some energy to improve your overall memory however; the harder you rehearse these exercise routines, the far better at memorizing you’ll get. Before long you’ll be requiring notepads and pencils less, and you’ll be able to remember more than you happen to be accustomed to. Most of these exercise routines could be somewhat entertaining. A number of the ways you can train your memory are mentioned below.

Playing the Radio Can Certainly Help Your Memory

When you’ve got a favourite radio station, you can have fun with the auditory memory exercises by taking note of their day-to-day top ten. Don’t write these down as you hear them, wait a little for every one of the songs to be played out before attempting to jot all of them down in order from the first to last. Initially, even trying to remember all of the titles can be difficult, particularly when they may be songs that you are not acquainted with. But with time, you can actually call to mind every one of the titles, the specific artist, as well as the album the track originates from. There are a variety of radio stations which have contests involving memorizing these types of top ten countdowns. So while gaining better short term memory, why not have fun and win a few bucks while doing so?

Two Brains are Much Better Than One

If you feel you simply can’t finish an auditory memory exercise all on your own, try looking for a companion to do it with you.

Generally, these partner exercises involve your companion detailing a collection of terms, or phrases – perhaps names, address contact information, phone numbers or any type of list – then you need to remember the list and repeat all the items in order. Once more, this process needs practice and time, but before long you’ll be seeing that you’re improving at memorizing details.

In the event you choose to accomplish your auditory memory exercises on your own, you’ll be able to practice with recordings of anything at all from songs to speeches to plays. Listen closely to a song which you’re not acquainted with or one in which you do not know the words and phrases, then try to note down the song lyrics just after. At the beginning, replaying the tune to confirm if you have gotten the words effectively would be common, but before long you will end up doing it less. Try to get to the level where you can listen to a brand new song and write down the lyrics accurately without replaying the record.

Auditory memory exercises are usually handy approaches to improve your short term memory as well as your overall memory skills as they can be performed from anywhere and also at any moment.

One of the most effective ways of improving your memory is to buy Procera AVH. It is a brain power supplement made from safe natural ingredients designed to improve memory function. Alison Benjamin has read extensively about memory loss and suggests that anyone wanting to improve their memory try Procera AVH.

Brain Vitamins : What Are Brain Vitamins and How Do They Increase Memory Retention?

One of the most complex organs in the body, the brain requires plenty of nutrition and nourishment for good health, proper functioning as well as long life. To provide ‘fuel’ to the brain one must take brain vitamins for not only boosting brain metabolism but also to protect against age-related memory loss.

As we grow old our memories begin to fade. We no longer remember the small details of our past and some people even lose connection with their past. This often leads to depression and social isolation for people with acute memory loss and diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Brain enhancing vitamins facilitate the brain to manufacture the right amount of proteins and fats to enable its smooth functioning. These can be taken as natural and easy-to-use nutritional supplements, thanks to the modern science which has enabled manufacturing of a large number of vital vitamins for the brains.

Some of the most important nutrients that help preserve the memory are antioxidants that are popular for their cell-protecting properties. A recommended dose of antioxidants combined with vitamins for the brains such as vitamins C and E are known to support having strong memories. Simple intake of these brain vitamins may help stave off Alzheimer’s disease, reduce the degeneration of brain cells and eventual loss of memory.

The brain enhancing vitamins C and E may also help prevent age-related dementia. People can naturally find these nutrients in fruits and vegetables including berries, prunes, raisins, and garlic. Fish oil supplements, fatty acids found in salmon, tuna or sardines are also a good source of essential brain enhancing vitamins.

Although brain vitamins can be found in various foods, it is not always possible to eat all kinds of fruits, vegetables or fish in any given day. It is therefore a logical to take some natural food supplements available easily in the stores. It is always advisable though to consult your doctor before you begin supplementation of any kind. Since there are a wide variety of products on shelves which claim to have brain enhancing vitamins and other essential nutrients, it would help to know what to look for when buying such products.

In addition to brain vitamins, there are some other important nutrients such as Tyrosine,
amino acids and Boron which play a role in enhancing the memory. Tyrosine is naturally found in protein rich foods such as beef and chicken; amino acids such as Tryptophan, are extracted from whole grains, and Boron are found in avocados, apples and nuts.

Another popular brain booster is Choline, which is found in eggs and milk. By consuming products containing brain vitamins, critical amino acids, and antioxidant and other important nutrients, you can give adequate support to your nervous system functioning and enhance brain health.

Mike Stevens has been studying the causes of memory loss and cognitive decline for years, and has written many articles on the subject. He is well-versed in brain vitamins and supplements, and contributes regularly to http://www.memory-enhancement-guide.com, a site discussing ways to enhance mental ability and prevent memory loss.

Techniques Widely Used in Boosting Memory Power

As with common tools of the mind, the more we practice using these tools, the more we will be effective in using them. If there is no practice and effort, we cannot strive for a good memory. One does not have the time necessary to expand the memory quality, most of these methods are very helpful in day to day living.

1. Mnemonics

A much known tool used in memory improvement is mnemonics which is a method to recall information that is very difficult to remember. The broad plan in using mnemonics is to introduce hard-to-remember-information in a way that they can easily be remembered.

The brain is very complicated and it can encode and understand complex data such as colors, images, sound, taste, position and language. These stimuli are utilized in the creation of a visual picture of our world and our memories are utilized to retain these pictures.

a. Images – you can utilize a microphone to remember your friend mike or wind for Wendy. Be sure to always use positive images because the brain tends to block unpleasant images

b. Words. You can use words that start with the first letter of each word that can represent the initial of what you want to recall. For example, musicians usually remember the lines of a staff E, G, B, D, and F by remembering the words “Every good boy does fine.”

c. Acronyms. These are initials that can create words. Musicians remember the spaces in a treble staff by memorizing the word FACE.

d. Rhymes. Most of us have learned that 30 days hath September, April, June and November.

e. Humor. By providing overstated symbols to relate facts and figures can be pleasing to brain coding because it is humorous and it will be simpler to recall.

2. Roman Room System

The Roman Room System is a method used while studying a new foreign language. Words can easily be studied while seeing a town with regular things that you normally see. New nouns can be learned if you visit the town square and try to be familiarized with the counterpart of common names.

3. The Peg Word System

To remember a list in a certain sequence, the peg word system is the most effective method. However, before starting this method, you need to remember a roster list of peg words. Normally, there are two main ways to do this. Have a minute look at both of these methods, before deciding on which to use, or you can use your imagination and use both. The first method is simple and easy to use. All you have to do is memorize the words that rhyme with numbers 0 to 10.

The second method is the alphabet system, where you recall words for the numbers pegged from 0 to 99. This helps to form a relation without having to remember a difficult relation with number rhymes. Using peg words, you are sure to get the right number by using consonant and converting them to numbers. The extensive the list, the more effective as you will avoid recycling, resulting in less confusion.

The side effect is the long time for you to memorize the list. However, once you recall the peg words, you will be benefitted by the list permanently.

Boost Memory : Boost Memory Power – Learn How You Can Meet 50 People and Easily Remember Their Faces and Names

The Face Method

The Face Method is intended to help a person more easily remember the names of the people that they meet, by associating a memorable and unique image with the name that helps you to recall it. This image is then associated with a feature of the person’s face that is particularly notable. There are five distinct stages involved with the method.

Firstly you must ensure that you correctly hear the name. Too frequently people will pay too little attention to the name that they are hearing, or will mishear it. This will make it impossible to correctly commit the name to memory, and so even if you have to ask for the name to be repeated it is essential that you correctly hear and understand it.

A name in and of itself is abstract and hard to remember. To make things easier you need to associate the name with an image that makes the abstract more concrete, and the more unique the image is the greater the chance that it will be easy to remember. This is the second step.

If you had met a man named Mr Madison you may for instance imagine a small boy who is so hopping mad that his face is red and there is steam coming out of his ears! He is jumping up and down on one foot and clenching his fists. The more unconventional the image the easier it is to remember.

Thirdly you need to find something about the person’s features that stand out. It may be a mole in a particular place, or big ears or nose, or a deeply clefted chin. The feature that you choose must be permanent, as opposed to hair colour that may be changed, or a moustache that may be shaved off. This facial feature must then be associated with the image that represents the person’s name.

In the fourth step you link the image for the name with the feature that you quickly picked out. The angry boy may jump up and swing off the man’s bushy eye brows in his ranting anger, that is if the eyebrows were the feature you thought to be most distinctive about him. When next you next see the man you will be able to recall the angry little boy (the mad son) swinging from his eyebrows, enabling you to recall the name Madison for the gent.

The association may be forgotten, especially in the minutes following your choosing it and so this is then the most important time to repeat it. The repetition helps to set the association to more permanent memory, and the time period between your reflections on the association should be increased from a few minutes, to an hour, a few hours, a day and upwards. If not occasionally reflected upon this association may be lost.

It can also help to set the name to verbal memory by using it more than once in conversation, at appropriate and natural seeming times. Ensuring at least that goodbyes are offered will give you a chance to repeat the name.

Boost Memory : Boosting Memory Made Easy

A powerful memory can be so useful, it really can even be the deciding factor between success and failure in many areas of life. A good memory will make you look more respectable, in control, professional and more.

So you want to improve yours? Here are our top 3 memory boosting tips:

Varied repetition: The most basic form of memory – especially if you generally have problems remembering things will be to repeat something over and over. This works, but only so far. You can add extra power to this technique by using a few forms of different repetition, i.e. in trying to remember a new friend’s name; repeat their name back to them – i.e. “nice to meet you Dave”, repeat the name in your head, sing the name in your head, write the name down on paper. Doing just a couple of different things like this will really help too boost your memory – give it a try you’ll be amazed!

Visualize: Just being told a fact, or perhaps the date and time of a meeting place can be easily forgotten. Make yourself 3x more likely to remember by doing a quick 10 second visualization. For example, a friend asks you to meet them in town on Saturday outside the town clock at 2pm. Visualize yourself stood there in the future, look around you, and look up at the clock and note that the time says 2 o’clock. Just taking a few seconds to do this will make you much more likely to remember.

Subliminal Messaging: One method which is becoming increasingly popular is the use of subliminal audio. Subliminal messages work as a mild form of hypnosis, but you don’t have to enter a trance. You can use them while you work, or study, and all they do is send subliminal suggestions into your mind to help you focus, take in information more effectively, and boost your memory over the long term. They are not magic or instant, but they will enhance your efforts and give you an advantage.

Short Term Memory Techniques

The amazing thing about your brain is that it takes in, processes and remembers everything it sees and thinks about. Just think of the information stored away in your brain after all the things you have experienced in your life. They are all in there! However as you also know it is not so easy to bring them out again. Just imagine your eyes, ears, fingers, taste buds and nose being little recording devices and recoding everything as you experience it. Then the film it is all being recorded onto being piled willynilly into a big box sitting at the back of the room. That is what happens with the great majority of the experienced information you take in during a day. It is as if your memory is a series of files with some very neatly kept ones with good labels and pegs on it that the information is organised into, then some ones which might be a little cluttered and not quite organised but it is still possible to find things if you look hard enough and then the great boxes full of files that are completely jumbled up and random and even hard searching would not be able to find what you wanted in there.

So the key ,of course, is organisation. And to help you do that there are a series of really useful lists that you can use to link your new information to. We have already got one very helpful in one in the form of the 1 to 10 list. Here are another couple that will help you power up your short term memory by giving you ‘labels’ for your files!

Think of your body. You know it well and it can provide you with a great list of pegs that you can easily access to link new information to by creating vivid, silly pictures making one new thing attach to each known thing. For example, run through your body and see how we can form the Body List.

1.

Toes

2. Knees

3. Buttocks

4. Love handles

5. Shoulders

6. Arms

7. Fingers

8. Collar

9. Face

10. Hair

Easy wasn’t it? You now have this list to hand to link to anything new.

Next here is another way to make a list you can have in the back of your mind when you want to perform some memorisation on new information. This involves thinking about rooms you know well and assigning different items in each room to be the hooks to create your Room List. Here we go with an example:

Room 1 – Kitchen

Fridge

Stove

Sink

Kettle

Rubbish bin

Room 2 Lounge

Sofa

Chair

Rug

TV

Table

Lamp

And so on…. you can have as many rooms as you like.

What you have to do now is to keep going over these lists so that they are automatic in the way that your 1 to 10 list is now automatic. These will be even easier to remember because they are based on things you know really well and form a natural order (hint; when you are making your room lists anchor them by using your own kitchen/lounge/bathroom layout so start at the door – what do you see first, then second, then third….) This means that your Room list might have a different order to someone else’s but that doesn’t matter. It needs to be in the order that works for you. Make sure you keep going over the lists to the stage where you can call them all out by name. Once you have that done you can start playing about with new information by linking it to these and see what works best for you.

We are a team of experienced experts in the field of psychology, brain based learning, positive mental health and for short term memory techniques. We are committed to bringing the highest quality information on these topics to the public. Ontario, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2013

Dario Franchitti, the race car driver involved in a serious accident at the Grand Prix of Houston on October 6, is set to return to racing next year. According to USA Today, Dario Franchitti underwent a second surgery on his right ankle recently and was released from Memorial-Hermann Texas Medical Center on October 10. (USAToday.com, Dario Franchitti has second surgery on his right ankle, October 14, 2013) Franchitti also suffered two broken vertebrae, a broken right ankle and a concussion in the crash that sent his car airborne and into a catchfence.

While the headlines surrounding Franchitti are now focused on his rekindled relationship with his estranged wife Ashley Judd (US Weekly.com, Ashley Judd going to give it another try with estranged husband Dario Franchitti, October 20, 2013), theres a less-talked about issue still lingering: how will Franchitti protect himself should long-term or unseen permanent side effects keep him from racing ever again?

His recovery is looking great right now. Everyone is reporting he will get back to racing next year and I hope thats true. I also hope that this accident is a wakeup call to his financial lifeline just as much as it was a wakeup call for his marriage. No one is invincible and for pro athletes, their window for making big money is very short. Franchitti is now 40 and in a different financial situation than a 20-year-old newbie. What would happen to a 20-year-old race car driver in their first season who suffers a crash like Franchittis and isnt so lucky? Disability insurance must become a top priority for pro athletes, says Frank N. Darras, disability lawyer to the pros.

Pro athletes have a limited time to save enough money to support themselves and their family for a lifetime. Its true they have other lucrative options after playing pro sports, certainly more than the rest of us, but that money wont be nearly as much as they make during their time in pro sports. The younger they are, the more risk they face. A young first-time pro athlete could lose it all in one play or accident and thats certainly not enough money to last a lifetime.

A private own-occupation disability insurance policy will protect pro players, in their first season or last. It will pay them a monthly disability benefit if they are no longer able to perform the essential duties of their occupation. For a race car driver like Franchitti, this means no longer having the arm or leg movement to be able to drive a car at tip-top-speed.

Whether a race car driver or a star NFL quarterback, an own occupation disability policy protects the income that goes along with their lifestyle and current occupation. Players often dont know where to start with these policies and can get themselves into trouble. Thats why its a good idea to consult with an experienced top disability insurance lawyer who can navigate the fine print of these pro athlete disability contracts and forewarn of insurance loopholes, says Darras.

This brain enhancer is enabling individuals to put an end to forgetfulness, lack of concentration and mental fatigue. In addition, the Procera AVH supplement positively impacts other aspects of life since it restores optimal brain functioning within the individual. In view of this, one using Procera AVH can expect to receive benefits far beyond enhanced cognitive performance.

The appeal of Procera AVH is its unparalleled ability to restore neurotransmitters to levels once enjoyed during youth- all through the use of natural ingredients.By elevating and restoring key neurotransmitters within the brain(like acetylcholine) one is able to receive the benefits of optimal brain functioning- such as:

Optimal focus and concentrationEnhanced Mental ClaritySignificantly increased Memory RecallAn end to brain fogImproved energy levelsImproved moodIncreased IQ

This results in rejuvenated brain operation and is comparable to the dramatic results one receives when replacing the spark plugs within a vehicle.

Unfortunately, the decline of brain functioning has become a fact of life with the scanty “brain food” diets that are followed by mainstream society. It is true that switching to a brain essential diet will provide results over an extended period but that action(which is also highly recommended) pales in comparison to the returns one receives from adding Procera AVH to their daily regimen. This outcome is not surprising, as Procera has been formulated to contain some of the most potent and natural ingredients that have been clinically proven to increase blood flow and metabolic activity within the brain.

If one is seriously considering a move towards regaining and re-energizing the health and functionality of their brain then Procera AVH is a definite move in the right direction. Memory Enhancement | How to Improve your Memory

Memory is a process of retaining, storing and recalling experiences, and it is closely associated with learning. Thought learning, knowledge is acquired, and through memory this knowledge is made available. There are different types of memory, temporary or short term, which is stored for a very short period of time in the brain- a millisecond to a few minutes, and permanent or long term, which is more lasting.

Supporting factors to promote mental function and enhance memory

In order to enhance memory, optimum mental functioning must be promoted. Optimum mental functioning requires mental stimulation, proper nutrition, social interaction and support, breathing and relaxation, water intake, physical exercise, rest and sleep. Some medications can cause memory problems, so special care should be taken to identify if this is a side effect of any of your medications, and if so to discuss this with your health care provider should memory problems develop. The following provides more information on specific areas to address for promoting mental function and enhancing memory.

Learn/Do Something New

The brain can absorb new data, make new connections, and acquire new skills, which helps to enhance memory. To take on new things you need to believe that you can deal with the specific activity or problem and that you will have reasonable success. You can improve cognitive functioning with training that focuses on learning how to draw conclusions from a set of facts, or identifying relationships between different shapes.

Guided imagery can also help to stimulate the braing.

In guided imagery one must be mindful of their breathing, using their breath to help them relax into this practice. Through guided imagery a pleasant experience is brought into the mind’s eye. Through the senses all the dimensions of the experience are recalled into our memory. Visualizing all the dimensions of the experience, the sight, smell, sounds, and feelings, not only helps to produce a feeling of well being, it sharpens the memory by recalling an experience and revisiting its sensory details.

Social Interaction and Support

Humans require positive meaningful interactions with other humans. Lack of stimulation from these types of interactions can lead to depression and cause memory problems. Unfortunately not all human interactions are of this nature. In addition to your routine interactions seek out those with whom you can have positive and meaningful interactions.

Nutrition

Eating a well balanced diet is essential for healthy aging. Within a well balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, bread and cereal, the vitamins that support our memory (folic acid, B12, and thiamin) will be available.

Breathing & Relaxation

Breathing is good, it is essential to life. We can use breathing to calm ourselves. Focusing on your breathing can help to reduce tension and nervousness, which can inhibit our ability to pay attention and can interfere with memory.

Water

Water is an essential element for humans to exist, it also helps to promote memory. Not enough water can lead to dehydration, which can cause confusion and problems with memory.

Physical Exercise

The mind-body connection is real. Physical exercise can promote mental alertness and healthy aging. Exercise comes in many different forms. Finding what is best for you and fits with your lifestyle is critical to making it part of routine activities. The keys to physical exercise is that it must be safe for you, be something that you enjoy doing, and you must do it regularly several times a week. Before beginning any exercise program you should consult your health care provider.

Boost Memory : A Dozen Sure Fire Ways to Boost Memory in A Diverse Classroom

Do you have students who have difficulty remembering information for tests? Most teachers do. Here are a dozen sure-fire ways to boost memory in your diverse classroom:

Provide visual clues.

Create visual images to represent key concepts being taught by using simple clip art or line drawings or symbols. Whenever the concept is presented, present the visual symbol also. Have students draw the visual symbols in their notes, or provide a one-page handout of drawings representing concepts in the unit for students to cut and paste in their notes or on their study cards.

Color code notes. When giving notes, connect a color with specific chapters/units being studied. For example, an eight-grade teacher presents the French and Indian War in green overhead marker, and has students write notes using green marker. The next unit may be presented in blue, the next in brown. Caution: Avoid using red and green back-to-back, or blue and purple back to back, as students with color deficiencies may not see a difference between the colors.

Create silly ditties out of connected information such as historical events, literary sequence of events, science system parts and function or sports rules.
Have students read with a blank piece of paper on the desk and instruct them to mind map the story line, characters, and detail as they read.

Have students create mnemonics to remember lists. At the beginning of each class session, quickly review the unit’s mnemonics as a whole group, reciting them aloud. If possible, give the recitation a ‘rap’ beat.

Put emotion into your lessons. When introducing new concepts or facts, put on your “drama” hat and use animated expression, modulated voice body language, and hand gestures to bring the concept alive. tudents may announce that you are ‘nuts’ but if their test scores go up, nuts is good.
Ask students what they already know about a topic before you teach it. Have them list three things they want to know about the topic. Teach the topic, and then ask students to come up with connections to their own lives. For example, “Have you ever experienced the feelings that Juliet describes?” “Do you think the problems Madame Curie faced exist today?”
Have students print key facts to be tested on index cards using colored markers. Use a different color for key words/cues in the facts. Have students write a question for the fact on the other side of the index card.
The brain is social. At the beginning of class, during a transition period, or at the end of class, have student pair with a partner and spend 5 minutes reviewing using their study cards. Use a kitchen timer to signal the end of review.

Create visual diagrams or flow charts of the step-by-step process for using machines, cooking, computer instruction, physical education games, body system process, etc. Have students review by presenting the diagrams without the words for the students to complete. Some students may need a word/phrase box.

Create time sequence charts with titles for major eras of history. Then create a mnemonic to represent the titles in sequence.

Stanislavski Acting Technique : Memory Exercises

Article by Alison Roskopp

Constantin Sergeyevich Stanislavski was a 20th century Russian actor and director. He created an acting method that has been used and transformed by many greats within the acting industry. His methods and techniques have trained a plethora of modern celebrities and stage actors. His goal when creating the Stanislavski system was to create realism in acting. He is the father and creator of Method acting.

Stanislavski believed in the power of imagination in creating real emotions. He taught his students to use “If” questions: “What if this happened to me?” Also he told them to ask questions about who the character was and used the answers to create the realism of emotions.

The Stanislavski method trains actors to use what is called a super-objective. How it would work is first the actor finds the driving force or theme of the script. Next the actor must find the objectives within that script, such as what the character wishes to achieve, obstacles and actions. The point of using the subject-objective is to focus on the action instead of the emotion.

Students studying the Stanislavsky acting technique are taught concentration and relaxation. The actor is taught to relax his or her muscles and prevent using unnecessary muscles that are not needed in an action. Then they must work on concentration and learning the ability to find “solitude in public.” This solitude will help the actor with any tension that may come from performing. For example, the actor would concentrate on a small area, and then increase the size of the area until it encompasses all of the stage.

For the emotions, Stanislavsky taught emotional memory. Emotional memory is where actors recall past memories to achieve the needed emotion for a role or scene.Character building is also a major focus for Stanislavsky. Actors are taught to learn how to build their character with different techniques. This is achieved by using “from the outside in” approach. This “outside in” builds the character’s physicality and voice.A class starts will relaxation and concentration. A beginner actor first works on doing concentration exercises and a more skilled actor works on emotional memory exercises. Homework is abundant, as students must create a complete and full biography for their characters. In addition to the bio, the student must create additional scenes outside of the script.

Within the script itself student must also write down super-objectives to break scenes into units, then creating action verbs for each unit. Improvising is also expected from actors studying the Stanislavsky technique. Then lastly is physical and vocal training. In this part of the class, actors go through exercises and learn about costumes and makeup. Rhythm and tempo are also taught as well. Speech, singing and dance classes are often times strongly encouraged by a Stanislavsky teacher.

Alison recommends that all actors learn the master techniques early in their careers. Attend acting workshops in Los Angeles to learn technique and stay sharp. Prepare for auditions with the best acting coach in Los Angeles, Lesly Kahn.
