Boost Your Brain Power Using Neurobics : Brain Power

Article by Greg Frost

Neurons refer to nerve cells found in the human brain. Neurobiologists highly recommend neurobics as the most appropriate exercise to boost your brain power. The habits you are currently used to are responsible for your current results. You can also improve or better your results if you change your habits. There are several ways to boost your brain power which people can employ and get desirable outcomes. However, this article intends to highlight only the major strategies that can be used by different ages to boost brain power. All the strategies that are discussed here are in form of exercises:

1. Developing motor pathways. This is an essential exercise recommended for people in all ages. Even at old age, you can employ this exercise to boost your brain power. Tightening up connections as well as new pathways is quite simple so long as a person is consistent in the exercise. For the right-handed, try using your left hand when changing clothes, making phone calls, eating, writing among other activities that you perform using your right hand. This exercise helps in creating new pathways for nerves and aids to boost your brain power.

2. Cognitive ability. This might involve playing your favorite game or doing any other activity that will task your mind. For instance, use a new way to reach the workplace such as using a new path, traveling different directions, changing the position you sit in an office or using a different chair, disarranging the contents of your table among other adjustments in your daily routine. This is where brainwave entrainment technology comes in, such as watching a new movie on the latest DVD. Such movies require extra thinking hence boost your brain power. Stagnation in habits bars the growth and development of your brain. If you are used to watching soaps, try watching horror movies and your brain will definitely be ignited.

3. Stimulating other senses. Just like the first strategy, try to do things differently. For instance, closing your eyes when carrying out ordinary activities such as taking a bath, dressing, washing dishes will ignite and develop dormant senses that you rarely use in the course of your daily activities. For instance, blind people have a superior auditory sense as compared to people with acute eyesight. Blind people also have a sharp sense of touch and smell and can identify people they regularly interact with just by touching them or smelling them. Boosting brain power requires more than just carrying out the ordinary activities.

4. Having enough sleep and rest. It is recommended that sleeping for eight hours in the 24-hour cycle will greatly boost your brain power. Lack of enough sleep and rest leads to a feeling of stress. The lesser the stress, the more your mental functioning will be. The current economic hardships have seen people spending as little 3 hours on sleep to make ends meet. Beware, such habits will have adverse effects on the functionality of your brain which you need for the success of your chores.

Neurobics protect your brain cells from aging, boost brain power, improve cognitive function and reduce your vulnerability to Alzheimer’s disease.

The Best Brain Supplements : Brain Vitamin

Article by Holly Avens

What would you do if you knew that you could prevent memory loss and Alzheimer’s? Well it is possible to do just that with exercise, healthy eating, good sleeping habits and proper supplementation for the brain. Studies have been done that link to this result and it is amazing to think that you are in control of your own outcome, not genetics in this aspect. There are three supplements that are recommended in order to sustain good brain health; which are CoEnzyme Q10, a Comprehensive Multi-Vitamin and Acetyl-Carnitine.

CoEnzyme Q10CoEnzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant that provides energy to all cells, especially in the heart and brain. CoQ10 is vital to your brain power. Aging causes a loss of CoQ10; which is why your brain can not function at full speed like it once did. The recommended dosage is 100-200 milligrams. Supplementing with CoQ10 has been researched and has been proven to be effective and safe. It is important to realize the role that CoQ10 has in your brain functionality and to take the proper steps to help your brain stay at its optimal level.

Comprehensive Multi-VitaminTaking a Multi-Vitamin that contains at least 400 mcg of folic acid and 500 mg of Vitamin C is important for many reasons. Folic acid overall reduces homocysteine; which is the culprit in causing heart disease and strokes. Folic acid and Vitamin B12 work together to prevent brain damage; which would have occurred otherwise. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that promotes the transmission of messages throughout the brain. Vitamin C overall reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s by 20% to where it keeps the brain functioning efficiently and effectively. Again, make sure the multi-vitamin has the stated amount above in order to get the optimal results.

Acetyl-CarnitineAcetyl-Carnitine is the third brain supplement to help prevent memory loss and Alzheimer’s. The key to this supplement is that it can protect the brain from neurotoxicity and oxygen deprivation. As you can see that this goes hand in hand with CoQ10. As CoQ10, gives the energy to each cell, Acetyl-Carnitine creates an environment for rejuvenation for the mental and physical function of a cell. It is recommended that no more than 1,000 mg of Acetyl-Carnitine a day be consumed without the approval from your doctor. As can you can see these supplements are vital to good brain health. Taking them will allow you to feel better overall and later in life you will have better memory than you could have; which will lead to a better quality of life. Act now to protect your brain with exercise, a healthy diet and great brain supplements.

Increase Brain Power: 3 Brain-Boosting Secrets To Enhance Your Mental Abilities : Brain Power

Article by Michael Lee

Life requires people to be in a constant state of evolution. This is not merely limited to the physical; you can also evolve mentally. One way you can do that is by learning ways to increase brain power. After all, the brain is the mastermind of your body. And given the opportunity, your brain can take you to great heights.

If you want to know how to increase brain power, then you’ve come to the right place.

1) Consume Gingko Biloba.

Gingko Biloba is the national tree of China. But its main contribution to your brain power is in its leaves. The leaves have been known to improve memory and induce mental alertness in healthy individuals. It encourages more blood flow to your brain and also helps in reducing mental fatigue.

However, keep in mind that Gingko Biloba should be used with caution. If you have a blood clotting problem, are pregnant or taking anti-depressant drugs, find another alternative to increase your brain power.

2) Exercise Your Brain.Your brain also needs to work out! Instead of being a couch potato and letting the television do all the thinking for you, why don’t you solve a crossword puzzle once in a while? Engage in a Sudoku match or play a strategic game of chess to increase brain power.

These activities get your mental faculties thinking, which in turn, improves the way it operates. Think of your brain as a car. Unless you take it out the garage once in a while, its parts will start rusting and will eventually become unreliable.

3) Do Not Overstress.

Too much stress can literally cause brain damage. If you really want to increase your brain power and keep your brain healthy at the same time, I advise you to avoid getting yourself in a succession of stressful situations.

If your job is naturally stressful, then take a few breaks in between projects. Spend the weekend at home, relaxing in bed. Or if that’s too indulgent, take two hours off and get yourself a nice, relaxing massage.

It is easy enough to learn how to increase brain power. The challenge, of course, lies in keeping the habits up, even after a week has gone by. But if you put your mind to it, I’m sure there is nothing you can’t handle. Your brain is very powerful. Don’t let its potential go to waste. Eat healthy, exercise your mind, and find time for rest and relaxation.

If you are one of those people who want to reflect better, your brain power boost might be just a few steps away. These seven steps might help you in your pursuit to keep your brain working perfectly fine.

1. Engage yourself in a Regular Exercise

Do simple exercises like a simple walk or jog. It may not be as intense as a full-blown work-out. You just have to keep your body physically fit and active.

Become Smarter Eating – Brain Foods : Brain Foods

Article by Jeremy Wong

This is a continuation from Eating to your Smartness – Part 1, part of a series of articles about becoming smarter through foods, so visit http://www.smarter-mind.com/ if you haven’t read it.

In part 1, I mentioned of the huge benefits that foods can have on the brain, and talked about the first of the 3 important components that will help boost your brain’s power – water. In this article, I will speak of oxygen, and the benefits and importance of keeping a good supply of it to your brain.

Oxygen for Smarts

Our brain needs a lot of oxygen, and it’s a known fact – it uses 20% of the body’s TOTAL consumption of oxygen, a very huge amount considering that the brain is only 2% of our whole body mass. This is the reason the brain starts to lose its mental abilities very quickly when deprived of this all important gas.

This is the sequence of events that follow an oxygen supply cut from the brain – within 4-6 minutes, large numbers of brain cells begin to die. No more than a few minutes later, death.

From all these facts, you can see that oxygen plays a big role when it comes to the brain. The sad truth is that most of us are not maximizing the amount of oxygen we can give to the brain and thus, not allowing the brain to perform to its full potential. The lighter effects that many people experience nowadays are fatigue, sleepiness and a lack of alertness.

Chances are that you are one of the many who suffer from this. There are various ways to overcome this problem and create results that are opposite of this, in which you generally become smarter and more intelligent. It’s all a matter of knowing how.

So how do you go about doing that?

One of the ways to do this is to eat meals of smaller quantities more often. So, instead of eating 3 larger meals every day, you eat 7 smaller ones. A good way would be to have sandwiches, as they are easily brought around. This way, more oxygen goes to the brain as less of it goes to the stomach for digestion.

Nutrition Brain Food : Brain Foods

Article by Janet Walker

My brain is very important to me and i assume to you to, meaning your brain to mine. Since we age, which is out of our control, both our bodies and our brains grow old also. However by realising smart food choices, we can preserve our treasured gray matter for longer and improve our brain function. Below are a few brainy choices for keeping our brains in good shape.

Blueberries have been revealed to shield the brain from stress, dementia, and Alzheimers. Diets rich in blueberries significantly improves both the learning capacity and motor skills, which are been shown through research.Avocados, although considered a ‘fatty fruit,’ can contribute to healthy blood flow and reduce blood pressure, which decreases the chances of developing hypertension, which can lead to a stroke.

Deep-water fish, like salmon is a good, freshwater fish option. They are abundant in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are crucial for healthy brain function.

Nuts and seeds are good sources of vitamin E, an important vitamin required by your brain to stave away declining cognitive functions. Walnuts, sunflower, sesame seeds, almonds, cashews and peanuts are all great options.

Whole-grain breads, oatmeal and brown rice also help to maintain a healthy brain by decreasing the risk of cardiac disease. Through promoting a healthy heart and improved blood flow, the brain is sure to flourish via excellent oxygen and nutrient delivery through the bloodstream. Complex carbohydrates also provide the brain with a constant stream of glucose that heightens brain function. It is crucial to keep off simple carbohydrates often found in junk food since the glucose gives the brain a short-lived sugar high, often followed by a crash that makes you feel hungry and tired.

Freshly brewed tea also has potent antioxidants, particularly the class known as catechines, which also promotes healthy blood flow. Since black teas do contain caffeine it is crucial to use it sensibly.

Dark chocolate has potent antioxidant attributes that contain several natural stimulants, which enhance focus and concentration, and promotes the production of endorphins, which helps improve your mood. Once again, moderation is the key.

Happy Eating.

DHA Omega3 – The Brain Food : Brain Foods

Article by Gordon P Hall

Literally thousands of new people from all walks of life are turning to the natural healing nutrients that are DHA Omega3. These people have learned of the importance of taking a daily supplement of Omega3 and adding it to their health regime. If you read on, I will tell you why they call this remarkable oil, the brain food.

You see, DHA Omega3 is used in huge amounts by our brain. The brain is comprised of some sixty per cent fat. Over half of this fat is DHA Omega3. This is used to keep us happy and content with our life. Researchers have discovered that DHA gives your brain a jump start, regardless whether you are young or old.

However, please be aware, that if our DHA Omega3 levels, which are tied to our serotonin levels, ever fall, then we are in for some bumpy weather. We shall suffer from emotional distress, which will show itself as mood swings and bouts of depression and other emotional disorders. On the other hand, DHA helps our memory and our recall function.

A high intake of fish is linked to a significant decrease in memory loss and a lower chance of developing Alzheimer’s Disease. On the other hand studies done in the US, show it may be linked to mental health. The studies showed a correlation between the lower amount of fish being eaten and the rising incidence of depression.

An adequate intake of DHA has been found to be necessary during pregnancy. You see, the fetuses cerebral cortex is made up of twenty per cent DHA fatty acids. And the retina is made up of some fifty per cent DHA. This DHA is absolutely essential for the baby’s normal development.

You must never buy an Omega3 supplement that has not been molecularly distilled to remove the impurities such as lead, mercury and the PCBs. These PCBs cause cancer and take hundreds of years to break down. This method is the only way to get rid of these PCBs. The remaining oil will be as pure as you can buy.

Gordon Hall is fervent about enabling you and everyone to live a healthy lifestyle, and is an ardent reviewer of fish oil supplements. To discover which supplements Gordon recommends after far ranging and extensive research. Visit his website now at: Elite Fish Oil Supplement

Brain Power: 7 Ways to Boost Your Brain Power : Brain Power

Article by Trevor Johnson

Unless you fit in the Einstein category, chances are that you would like to increase the power of your brain.

There are various ways to do this – some natural, others involving the use of food supplements.

1. Regular Exercise

Start by exercising regularly. This doesn’t have to be a full workout at the gym. It can be as simple as walking more often.

Exercise releases chemicals into your brain called endorphins. These are our body’s way of feeling happier and these chemicals will have a positive impact on your brain.

2. Supplement Your Diet

Natural supplements like Ginko Biloba have also been shown to have positive effects on brain power. You can get them online from places like Amazon or from your local health food store.

3. Exercise Your Brain

Another way to increase the power of your brain is to use it more!

A few minutes “brain exercise” a day will help – anything from doing Sudoku or a crossword, reading a book, etc. Anything that stretches your brain is useful!

4. Brain Power Games

Many of the games consoles nowadays have games that are aimed at increasing your brain power. These are often labeled Brain Training, so if you have access to a games console they are a good way to increase your brain power. There are also computer based equivalents if you don’t have a console.

5. Take Up a Hobby

Most hobbies have some kind of learning involved. Whether it’s the best way to make a fly for your fishing or how to use the tools for wood turning or whatever, you’ll almost certainly have to learn new things. These will help you to expand the power of your brain as it starts to use parts that haven’t been used for longer than you’d care to remember.

6. Get Plenty of Sleep

Sleep is the time that our body uses to rebuild and repair itself. Making sure that you get enough sleep will give your body the energy that you need during the day. Taking a 10 minute “power nap” once or twice during the day is also a habit well worth learning. You’ll wake from the power nap refreshed and raring to go again.

7. Learn To Relax

Our modern lives tend to be more stressful than those of our ancestors. Whilst we’re not necessarily working physically harder, our brains are definitely working harder than those of our ancestors a few hundred years ago. We’re subjected to a barrage of advertisements and other external “data” that our brain has to process in case there’s a threat (that’s our ancient survival programming coming into play). Take up some kind of relaxing hobby whether it’s regular exercise, meditation or another form or relaxation. Your brain will appreciate the break and will work harder for you when you need it to.

You can also use the power of affirmations to boost your brain power. Take a look at the link below to the review I’ve done of the Brain Power Pro software that runs on your PC.
