As technology rapidly develops, we depend on it more and more to make our lives easier. But does it? With easy access to information readily available to us via our computers, cell phones, and television—all sources that have all-inclusive storage and memory capacities—do we depend on these sources so much that we have lost our own ability to store and recall information?

Fortunately, leading memorization techniques can help us with spontaneous recollection without depending on technology. These techniques improve memory through natural methods. We no longer need to worry about forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, or other important dates, not to mention the ramifications!

Not long ago, it was believed that adults stopped growing brain cells. In fact, it was all we could do to keep from destroying the ones we had. Any trauma to the head could put us at serious risk of destroying our existing neurons.

Now, we know that this isn’t the case. Research shows that new cells develop in the hippocampus, which is the part of the brain in which we store memories. Every day, we grow thousands of new brain cells. There is, however, one catch: only those of us who participate in active learning get to keep them.

Memorization techniques typically rely on three methods to improve memory, including:

What they are now learning about the brain is teaching us how to resolve issues that range from sleep deprivation to mental illness to memory loss, and with this knowledge we are able to fight dementia, improve sleep, improve overall health, and increase memory and intelligence.

Here are some tips on how to challenge, exercise and feed your brain.

Exercises for Good Brain HealthWhen most people think of exercise, they envision working out to keep their bodies physically fit and healthy. But the brain – so important to living a full life — also needs an exercise regimen to stay agile and alert.

What can you do to challenge your brain? Activities like crossword puzzles, card games, reading, volunteering and Sudoku puzzles will stimulate thought and cause you to retain information and problem-solve. Even planning a vacation or attending a class will require the brain to process new information.

More challenging activities might include mastering a foreign language, learning a new computer program or taking music lessons.

Most people do not consume enough protein. Opt for proteins found in cold-water fish, like tuna, wild salmon, herring, trout, sardines and whitefish. Conversely reduce saturated fats – such as red meats and animal products, and replace these “bad fats” with the monounsaturated fats in olive, canola, sunflower, safflower and soybean oils.

Decrease the intake of trans-fats (also called Trans fatty acids or hydrogenated vegetable oils) which are found in many processed foods.

Avoid high glycemic or simple carbohydrate foods that are really just empty calories. Sodas, sweetened drinks, cakes, cookies and other sugary snacks will give you an initial energy boast, but they will cause your blood sugar to fall dramatically which places stress on the body.

The goal is to have a healthier body and mind. Your brain will benefit from a well-balanced diet and improved food choices. When in doubt, choose fresh options, read the labels and consult with your physician or a nutritionist.

You will need to purchase a domain name for your site (available from many different online vendors) and then find a web hosting company to place it online by doing a simple Google search (there are many hosting companies as well).

Or you can go the route I went which is to find a company which will provide you with software to build your site and also host it for you. There are several companies like this out there. However, the one I chose takes things much further. They also help you find and select a perfect domain name for your site and handle all the technical stuff regarding search engine submissions. And they teach you how to build your site so it will generate lots of traffic (as opposed to having no one find your site once it is built). The cost of their extensive website building and hosting program works out to less than per month and comes with an unmatched library of helpful tools for the beginner.
