Therefore, instead of pushing yourself you need to stop and take a break. Relax for a bit and stop trying so hard. You know that you need to get your project done by a certain time by if you can’t get it finished because you are stressed out and pushing yourself its not going to do you any good.

Recently there has been a lot of controversy over subliminal messages in the news. Over the last few years they have gained a lot of media coverage.

Firstly fast food chain McDonalds were caught flashing a one frame message of their logo on the Food Network TV channel. Of course George Bush was accused to be using subliminals during his re-election campaign and speeches.

It is quite sad, but even after being highlighted in the media like this, both George Bush and McDonalds were able to walk away untouched.

The allegations against President Bush were proven to be politically motivated and eventually they went away, and McDonalds claimed it was just an error rather than a purposeful subliminal message. No further investigation ever followed either Bush or McDonalds – sadly.

There should be stricter boundaries and systems put in place to monitor and control the use of subliminal messages and how they are used, but going back to the original question of whether they are actually illegal or not then:

Simply put, no they aren’t illegal.

They are not allowed to be used within tv, radio, or any kind of advert for example you can’t use purely subliminal audio, or flashing subliminal images / words.

However the the rules don’t really apply to a “subliminal suggestion”.. A subliminal suggestion is usually a subliminal still image. When you first look it looks normal, , but after looking closer there is a subliminal suggestion there. Usually this is a link to sex, or even just being “popular” or “cool”.
